Is Charizard's Up Grab Seismic Toss really just for show?

Or does it have an actual use, it seems like it should kill but it apparently does basically nothing even damage wise.

It looks cool, imo not as cool as PM Charizard's Uthrow Seismic Toss, but it seems it's mostly a damage racking throw. I thought I saw it do 10%, which is fair & I'll take that %.

It's a pretty good combo starter. Decent damage as well. I'd say it lives up to standard.

It might be Sky Drop. Charizard is one of the few Pokemon to get that move, and the way this looks fits that discription pretty well. Not that it matters much which move it's supposed to be, but just throwing that out there (he he).

It'd be cool if it dealt like 10% of the opponents damage to them;

Opponent at 40% = 4% damage
120% = 12% damage
210% = 21% damage, and so on.
