Brawl singles tournament at a huge LAN-event in
Finland!
Lantrek is one of the biggest annual LAN-events in Finland, this time we get to host brawl singles there.
Fixed Prize payouts for Brawl singles (guaranteed):
1st 200€
2nd 100€
3rd 50€
Last year we had 29 entrants but with lower fixed prize pots.
There will be singles AND doubles
We will also host an inofficial doubles tourney just like we did at Lantrek 2013. It might not have fancy cash prizes like singles, but the winners will probably get a bunch of energy drinks or chips. Creating a monetary pot by ourselves could also be an option (as long as we are permitted by the hosts).
Venue Fee is 15€, this will grant you access to the venue for the whole weekend, as well as the right to play in any of the console game tournaments (excluding Halo 4 and COD)
Venue fee + Brawl singles = 15€

Brawl will most likely be played at 17.00 on Saturday, this might change though, since we aren't sure of the schedule yet. I will try to make it start earlier if 17.00 is too late for somebody. We can also play crew battles between for example Finland and eventual out-of-country players.

The website is in Finnish and English. Once you've created your user (you don't need to provide all the info they're asking for), register by clicking "Tournaments" and "View and participate" and choose Brawl in the list of tournaments. You can register until the 9th of January 2014.
Ruleset:
WFs, LFs and GFs are Bo5, everything else is Bo3.
3 stocks, 8-min timer, items set to off and none, pause off.
Starters:
Smashville
Battlefield
Final Destination
Yoshi's Island (SSBB)
Pokemon Stadium (SSBM)
Striking is done in the following order: P1 -> P2 -> P2 -> P1
P1 begins by banning one stage, P2 bans two stages and this is followed by P1 banning one stage from the remaining two stages to decide which stage the first match is played on.
Counterpicks:
Pokemon Stadium 2
Castle Siege
Lylat Cruise
Frigate Orpheon
Halberd
-Ledge grab limit: 35 (all characters)
-Dave's stupid rule is on - You cannot counterpick a stage in a set on which you have already won on in the same set (unless the opponent agrees to play on it).
-Anti scrooging rule: Scrooging under the stage twice in a row is prohibited. You have to take damage from your opponent before scrooging a 2nd time.
-MK's IDC is banned.
-Purpously causing IC's fusion glitch to occur is not allowed. Causing any other glitches that make the game freeze is not allowed either.
-All infinites are allowed until 300%
In case of a timeout, the winner will be decided based on the following conditions and in the following order:
1. The player that has exceeded the 35 LGL loses the match.
2. Amount of stocks left
3. Amount of damage
4. If neither one has exceeded the LGL limit and both are tied in stocks and damage, a 1-stock 3-minute match will be played on the same stage in order to determine the winner. 35 LGL
5. Step 4 is repeated until the winner is determined.
In addition to Brawl, there is a multitude of tournies in other games at Lantrek:
eSports:
StarCraft 2
Counter strike GO
Dota 2
League of Legends
Console games:
Halo 4
Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare
NHL 14
FIFA 14
Tekken tag tournament 2
Retro combination (could be anything from Duck Hunt to Super Mario Kart)
More info about the event: http://lantrek.org/2014/en Everything hasn't been translated yet and some info is still missing on the English version of the website. Will be completed any time soon.
SLEEPING
The venue has designated rooms for sleeping, which means that they will be silent throughout the night. Be sure to take something to sleep on, since the rooms will only have thin carpets at best. A sleeping bag is recommended!
TRAVELING
By plane
Flying to Helsinki (around 170km from Tampere):
Another option would be to fly to Helsinki and to take a bus from the Helsinki airport to Tampere (costs around 22€ for one way). Taking a train from Helsinki railway station is about 30€ for one way. The duration of the trip is 2 hours.
There is an almost hourly ExpressBus coach connection from Helsinki Airport to Tampere bus station. The bus departs from platform 13. It arrives at Tampere central bus station. From there you can either split a taxi (5km to the venue) or take bus number 7 and get out at a station called "Kenkätie". You should be right next to the Tampere exhibition centre.
Susi will also be able to drive people from the centre of Tampere/bus station to the venue.
Getting to the venue should be fairly easy and it is very likely that I (accompanied by someone else, or someone else) will travel with OoC players to the venue.
Just check google maps for the details and other things that you're uncertain about.
Flying directly to Tampere:
Some airlines have direct flights to Tampere. This could potentially be cheaper and easier.
Tampere is serviced by the Tampere-Pirkkala airport, which lies around 11 km from the venue and the city centre.
Blue1 has direct flight to Stockholm and Copenhagen.
More importantly for the budget traveler (aka smasher), Tampere is Ryanair's Finland hub, with service to cities such as Oslo, Edinburgh, Bremen, Frankfurt/Hahn, London, Milan, Rome, Alicante and Malaga.
Ryanair has some ridiculously cheap round trips from various German cities to Tampere for as low as 50€.
There will most likely be a carpool going to Tampere from Helsinki. This will be the cheapest and the most fun way to travel. If this doesn't happen then I'll probably ride on the same bus with the out-of-country visitors just like I did with Gardex and Hudet last time.
Helsinki is connected to every major city in Europe by regular flights.
Start looking for flights early and you'll get them cheaper.
By boat
Those who are coming by boat from Sweden could either dock off at Turku and take the train from Turku harbor to Tampere, or take the boat all the way to Helsinki. From Helsinki you could take a bus/train or join our carpool (unless you have a carpool of your own).
Tampere traveling guide: http://wikitravel.org/en/Tampere
Includes all the travelling options, places to see, things to do, restaurants and other fancy stuff in the city.
There is a Supermarket/Shopping centre, McDonalds, a Finnish hamburger restaurant, a pizza place and some smaller stores nearby (around 300m from the venue).
