Hey guys. Some of you already know me but I usually dont' have a reason to post in here.

I'm just posting to gauge interest in a Wichita-based Melee tourney, through Lazy Day Games here in Wichita. We're a brand new gaming center that is focused on serving the competitive community of the Midwest, and we'd like to have Melee here too. Tournaments would be reasonably priced, and cash and prizes will be involved. Fees will be reasonable as well, and would include use of multiple TVs, Projector screens, and a fiber optic internet connection so we can run a Livestream.

Is there an interest with you guys in KC/L? I'd love to work with you guys.

There's a good chance the Springfield, MO crew would be interested in attending as well. I'll keep an eye out for it.

On a slightly different note.
LinkMO? Is columbia thinking of joining us this week?
I am like 90% sure we are attending this weekend. I just have to check with my doc appointment. Since Monday is the day they want to do all the transplant workup, I might have to do some pre-prep kinda stuff and if I do, then I most likely won't be attending :(. Leviathan MIGHT be joining too for some smash 64 (will Arkive be there?). He wants to attend the Event 52 in May.

arkive and 8bit live in cali now :(

Potts is really good at 64 too though so tell leviathan he should still come, and I'd like to play some myself. There's also a possibility Buddha, a melee player from cali might be visiting us again, so yeah I'm hyped for this weekend

when columbia says "we" that probably only means me and linkmo.
leviathan is a toaster strudel so he won't be coming (most likely).

but if no one else from columbia is going then i can't either because i need a ride.

I'm glad there's so much interest in an ICT Melee tourney. So, here's another question: What is the average fee for a midwest Melee tourney?
BTW, if you wanna check out shots of the venue, just search Lazy Day Games on Facebook. Lots of stuff there!

Average tournament entries range from $10-$15 per person for singles and a similar rate for doubles with an additional venue fee ranging anywhere from $5 to $15.
Many tournaments will waive venue fees if an individual provides a setup.

So...my wife and I subscribed to Netflix a few weeks ago and we started watching this show called Heroes. Midway through season three there are several references to Lawrence, KS and even one of the characters is from there. At one point they actually go there and are at the girls house in a corn field. Not sure if any of it was actually filmed there but I thought it was pretty funny.

Supernatural also has a ton of stuff about Lawrence, KS. Several episodes of Season 1 take place there.

Too late bro, they're already in season 3.

Ziv, make note of all of the new characters you see in season 3.
You will never see them again. In season 4 everyone goes to the circus!

SHOW KEEPS GETTING WORSE.

yeah ziv you'll find other stuff that's way better to watch on streaming. Have you seen Arrested yet? If not DOOO EEET then I'd suggest Dexter

feel like we should mention that sometimes for our smaller tournies we go down to charging just $5 for singles and same for doubles. Not saying we plan on that but it's an option for us on occasion

By Arrested, do you mean Arrested Development? If so, I've seen all three seasons and love it. And Dexter is actually my favorite TV show. The intro theme is my ringtone for my cell lol.

And yeah, so far I really dislike season three. Seems like they fired all the good writers and hired a bunch of wannabe comedians. Like they're trying to turn the show into a comedy. I'm going to finish the series though, just because it's still mildly entertaining.

i'll admit arrested development had a few episodes that made me laugh, but the show kept getting worse and worse. for my money, 2 and a half men is where it's at, jace.

Good to know. I figured on so much on the fees. I'll start the process. What dates are some upcoming tournies? I don't wanna try to compete with established ones.

Because the Winchesters are from KS.

there's gonna be a negative on columbia attending. too small of a smash time to drive time ratio.
We smash from 6pm to ???.
The ??? is usually around 5 or 6 am.

If 11 hours of smash is too little for you, I'm sorry. I can't do much better.

edit: Ziv, I hope you've seen firefly already. It's one of the first shows they put on netflix.
