Why is it that after every game that Zero Suit Samus is selected, the cursor always moves back to regular Samus?

I know we are supposed to post codes here, but I actually need a little help. Sorry and if this is in the wrong post, feel free to delete/ignore me. This is my first time using the CSS hack. I have a couple easy questions. When attempting this hack, I will be using OPs code (if that's alright with him).

I read other forums and it was said that they could not get the ZSS textures to work since you must select her (without CSS) using R & L. So splitting them would fix this problem?

My second question regards the code manager. I already have the code for the file replacement of the... texture hack (File Replacment: v2.1a[Phantom Wings]). My question is, if I input 6 codes from the OP:

1- Regular Zelda Icon (CSS) [spunit262]
2- CSS fixes for Samus/ZSS and Zelda/Shiek V2 [spunit262]
3- Independent Pokemon Engine +no wreck My Music V2 [spunit262]

If I input these 6 codes from the OP, do I need to reinput the 2.1 phantomwing texture code or can I have 2 .gct files? Sorry, I'm a bit new. I hope I didn't come off as a scrub :/ Any help is greatly appreciated.

it's a known bug that has something to do with 'none' boxes
i had the same problem in a different place on the CSS, but it was only temporary

EDIT: you have some major errors in that css :/
i'm very surprised it even works...gimme a sec to take a look at it

if you dont have any none boxes in a 41-box css, the first 4 rows default to 9 and the last becomes 5
it could have been the extra random boxes you added that were causing the trouble

Nope, the same thing still happens :/

I've done quite a bit of testing, and it seems that the problem almost always occurs after a game on Halberd with a level 9 G&W or level 9 Random CPU involved. I don't see how this would affect the code, but it happens way too often to just be coincidence and could be a clue as to whats really causing the problem.

theres always the possibility that it's simply a faulty code in regards to none boxes

You might want to try troubleshooting a few things, one at a time:
Move the G&W icon
Remove the other none boxes, making the CSS have a pattern of 9-9-9-9-5
Replace 5d5e5c (pokemon icons) with 1d1e1c - as long as the independent pokes engine is there, they'll still be independent, but a trainer will show up in the background

It's really farfetched, but try removing the hitbox mod engine and data
It was probably a one-shot deal (with a different css but the same problem), but it worked for me, even after i put those 2 codes back in

I'm having some issues with a CSS (my first, actually).

I only made minor changes (to move Zelda and Samus/ZSS to the bottom, and some other adjustments to compensate), as well as adding the Alloys, Sheik and the independent Pokémon (5C-5E versions; no trainer) present.

At first, when I attempted to play as Red Alloy, I only got Falcon. I rechecked my codelist (listed below), and found I was missing one. I added it, and now the game freezes after selecting a stage.

These are the codes I'm running:

Giga and Co. Engine (this was the one I added after going for R.Alloy and getting Falcon. Also marks the start of the crashing)

What am I doing wrong, and what codes do I need to add (or remove)?

Edited to add: Where I'm getting the freezing is after selecting a stage, while I'm using what's supposed to be Red Alloy vs 3 CPUs on Random. The first try yielded an independent Ivysaur, so I'm doubting it's the random, unless maybe it's trying to choose an Alloy in a color greater than 0.


Edit 2: Strike all the above. Let it be known that in order to use Alloys on the select screen, you must use a custom random with them removed, or else if it tries to select FitZako*01-05 (or 01-06 for Yellow), the game freezes.

Seems to make it freeze? :( I kind of like my Wild Pokémon...loading codes using Snapshot method btw, only way I can run Brawl+ and textures and such using USB loaders...

It freezes when trying to load the snapshot if I try to use it with the Independent Pokemon Code. :/ When Custom Random is turned on and Independent Pokemon is turned off, it works fine.

I'm not a big fan of Sheik, but I still would like to have the original Zelda/Sheik icon. The CSS I have just has Zelda. Is there a code to still have Samus and Zamus separate but combine Zelda and Sheik?
Ya, I'm one of the Melee veterans who hated the abomination they call Sheik, she doesn't deserve her own slot LOL.

I'm basically running the 4.1 codeset set but with a 40 CSS instead of the Yeroc one.
I gave Zelda the "0E" value, which apparently is just Zelda.

Thanks, that helped. Also seemed that I used the wrong numbers for Charizard, Squirtle, and Ivysaur so fixed that as well. :p
Is there anyway to replicate the Melee character screen with nones as characters that are missing? And Lucario as Mewtwo and Toon Link as Young Link I guess due to textures...

a CSS should work fine online. You're probably getting problems because you're selecting characters that "don't exist" in the other players' unhacked wiis. Independent pokemon are such examples that would only work online if you and your friend have the same codes on.

Thanks, that helped. Also seemed that I used the wrong numbers for Charizard, Squirtle, and Ivysaur so fixed that as well. :p
Is there anyway to replicate the Melee character screen with nones as characters that are missing? And Lucario as Mewtwo and Toon Link as Young Link I guess due to textures...
can you post your codes since you CSS seems to intrigue me the most, seeing as to you said u changed the random, could u just post all of the codes since i also cant find the warioman fix

Has anyone ever fixed that glitch where sometimes after a match, parts of the CSS become unselectable until you exit out of the menu completely?

I figured that, but you can't really use any shape other than a rectangle without them...

If you have 3 or 4 slots for Pokemon Trainer, then that makes it the highest possible chance of getting him with Random, right? Is there any way to prevent that?

Actually, the CSS has nothing to do with "random" selection. The code "custom random" is what compromises the random list, so you can, for example, have separate pokes in the CSS but in the custom random code only have PT (I personally also leave MK out :) ).

I'm not sure how to tell from the Custom Random if that makes it so only PT is available instead of all 4 slots. I just seem to be getting PT a lot lately... lol

First off, i give no guarantee that this will work. I've never messed with custom randoms, so it's just as likely that this will mess with your game, unless it truly is possible that you can separate the css and the custom random (like ive said, ive never tried). of course, if you're playhing b+, there's no reason to want a custom random where you cant select the indy pokes. also, it's entirely likely that its merely a coincidence or you seeing stuff that isnt there, in regards to getting pt 4 times more than any other character (unless youve tested it :p) but, alas,
