The Toreador march from FNAF. I found this music to be more disturbing and creepy than most of the trilogy, and it always unnerved me that it was from the spanish opera "Carmen", and the original is about what is described as a circus that runs red with blood (the song is really about the running of the bulls, but select lines like these seem intentional)

Chronicles

You may have heard of this gem of a Wii/New 3DS role-playing game thanks to Shulk's playable appearance in Smash Bros. The original Wii version goes for inflated prices and I imagine that not all of you are interested in buying a New 3DS system at the moment, but I highly recommend anyone who has even the smallest interest in RPG's to experience Xenoblade at least once in their life. Wii U owners have Xenoblade Chronicles X to look forward to.

Anyway, you may have seen my fellow Xenoblade fans rave about the game's excellent soundtrack on other Smashboards threads, and for good reason. It is deserving of all of the praise it gets. Different songs were handled by different musicians including Yoko Shimomura, ACE+, Manami Kiyota, and Yasunori Mitsuda, resulting in a varied selection of musical pieces. Because there's so much to list and for the sake of preventing spoilers, I'm only posting a select few tracks. I wouldn't be surprised if some of my pals from the Shulk boards decide to come here to post more anyway.

Main Theme -- This somber piano/violin piece plays during the title screen. The story is an emotional one, so this music is a fitting way to start the game off.

Prologue A -- The game starts off with the game world's origin story before cutting to an epic battle between the armies of two rival titans-turned-land masses, Bionis and Mechonis. This piece sounds as any epic orchestrated battle music should.
Prologue B -- Take what I said about Prologue A and apply it here. This time, as the opening concludes, the tempo of this track starts fast, but then slows down near the end.
Unfinished Battle -- More stellar orchestrated music that plays during one cutscene in the entire game before a certain battle takes place. This would have been perfect for Smash.
Engage the Enemy -- From what I remember, this usually plays before boss fights, sometimes during emotional moments and fittingly so.
Riki the Legendary Hero -- How about taking a break from the dark and serious tone and listening to a lighthearted tune instead? This theme plays during a few cutscenes that don't take themselves too seriously, one of which ironically doesn't feature the Riki character.

Each environment has its own fitting theme music.
Colony 9 -- When the player first takes control of Shulk, his quest starts at his home colony. This music gives off a peaceful, but adventurous vibe.
Gaur Plain -- Xenoblade's most well-known and upbeat environmental music deserves it's iconic status because it's simply that good. I'd hate to quote that Shulk meme, but I'm really feeling it!
Alcamoth, Imperial City -- This track plays at the home of the winged High-Entia race and their royal family. It gives off a royal and serious vibe in contrast to Gaur Plain's cheeriness.

Just hearing these exciting tunes will get you pumped for battle.
Time to Fight! -- Yoko Shimomura's generic, but stellar orchestrated battle theme for most battles at Bionis.
Mechanical Rhythm -- This rock music plays during most battles at Mechonis.
You Will Know Our Names -- This optional boss theme requires no introduction. I'm sure at least most of you have heard it in Smash.

*I Didn't include a lot of good music from 2 because they copied quite a bit of it from the first one. I also didn't include a lot of music because I just don't like 2's soundtrack as much as 1's.

SUPER FIGHTING ROBOT!
DOO DOO DO DOOO
MEGAMAN!
The classic series of Megaman is my favorite games on the NES and some on my top 10! So why don't we take a look at the classic series, all 11 games! (Forgetting Mega Man and Bass? Because I'm not.)
Megaman 1:
Bombman's stage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avjuNvutxsw&index=2&list=PL2F9FC2ABF7FDAF43; for such an action packed game, this track is kind of... peaceful. IDK. Its cool though.
Fireman's stage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTIdRD5qrag&index=5&list=PL2F9FC2ABF7FDAF43; honestly, this sounds like the music meant for Elecman, but it's the best track the game has to offer for me.
Level Select Jingle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgwvD2-TYCc&index=10&list=PL2F9FC2ABF7FDAF43; It actually originated here.....
Megaman 2:
Intro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CL02gX8hSTk&list=PL2F553EFB76F93B22; This theme is actually the end theme to Megaman 1, but it's more iconic and recognized as the intro theme to Megaman 2, so I figured it belonged here. Probably the best intro theme in the series.
Intro part deux: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFdby6ljawk&index=2&list=PL2F553EFB76F93B22; aaaannnnddd the game immediately cranks it up to 11 and sets the tone for the rest of the game.
Level Select Jingle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gqni-M1k9gw&list=PL2F553EFB76F93B22&index=5; ...and was perfected here.
Bubble Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEULEvmq7yE&list=PL2F553EFB76F93B22&index=6; My favorite track in the game. Water levels wish it could be this cool *COUGH COUGH* WATER TEMPLE *COUGH COUGH*
Heat Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OJphbcA9SY&index=9&list=PL2F553EFB76F93B22; I rarely see this track get any recognition by fans, so I figured let's show it off here!
Wood Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvAAOmoEftg&list=PL2F553EFB76F93B22&index=11; This track sets a really cool jungle theme to go along with a really cool jungle stage.
Air Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhK4D3ytYMc&index=13&list=PL2F553EFB76F93B22; *I couldn't think of anything creative to say here, but it's a good song*
Wily 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTbfpkByIM8&list=PL2F553EFB76F93B22&index=16; More iconic than the game itself, the Wily theme stands as one of the best video game songs of all time! (you should have known this would make the list)
Ending: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KL9Gnx42Xf0&list=PL2F553EFB76F93B22&index=22; The sense of accomplishment you get from the ending theme is unrivaled. This theme is a great ending theme to a great game.
Megaman 3:
Intro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IXw00Wf-dU&list=PL21DC5F77ED694068; Really good track that sets the mood of the series.
Top Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZNwZhyDRTM&index=6&list=PL21DC5F77ED694068; Another track I feel is underepresented, it has a great beat to it and it was pretty catchy, too!
Spark Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfM3Ut6XXGs&list=PL21DC5F77ED694068&index=8; I really love this track, there's not much to say other than that it's really good.
Gemini Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjZhyTbd_IE&index=10&list=PL21DC5F77ED694068; Mysterious, catchy, this track has it all!
Wily Boss theme (stages 1,2,5, and 6): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBAbsZ1Li7Y&index=19&list=PL21DC5F77ED694068; I never really enjoyed most of the boss themes from the Megaman series, but this one sticks out as it's catchy and actually sounds like you're fighting evil!
Ending (Protoman's theme): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEklFzNlNdY&index=21&list=PL21DC5F77ED694068; Who knew a whistle could be so powerful? This is my favorite track in the entire series, as it is a major depature from the expected music, being somewhat sad and depressing. It also fits Protoman extremely well as a character, and is (I think, correct me if I'm wrong) the longest track in the originals on the NES. If you're only going to listen to one song, listen to THIS ONE.
Megaman 4:
Dive Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bXE8ldC2DA&index=5&list=PL97FBDB1FE18B2E34; Kind of intense and very cool, love this song.
Dust Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o65s78WI3oI&index=7&list=PL97FBDB1FE18B2E34; I really love this music, as it starts how by sounding like the place you are is fairly empty, but gets more action packed as the song progresses. Why does everyone hate Dust Man, I kind of like his design.
Pharoah Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ok5I0Yp-7fo&index=8&list=PL97FBDB1FE18B2E34; the most upbeat and fresh desert track I've ever heard, a great adaptation of the traditional "sand world" music.
Cossack 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9zoPeH-Ly0&index=22&list=PL97FBDB1FE18B2E34; A nice theme for a castle, has a somewhat different tone from most of the tracks in the game.
Wily 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1Txs_rI0bk&index=26&list=PL97FBDB1FE18B2E34; THIS SONG OOZES COOL. I absolutely love this track, personal favorite from megaman 4.
Megaman 5:
Crystal Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNMI-Vkrp_Q&index=3&list=PL68DA338C7EA8D0FA; a very mysterious track, kind of makes me think of the cave zone from Sonic 2.
Napalm Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLI6FzBY_JA&list=PL68DA338C7EA8D0FA&index=6; I really like this song, my personal favorite from Megaman 5.
Star Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCJss_gW2Qw&list=PL68DA338C7EA8D0FA&index=7; for the robot master having a pretty goofy concept, I really like the feeling of loneliness and emptyness as well as the wonder I get from this track.
Charge Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C75Q7bdQAQA&index=10&list=PL68DA338C7EA8D0FA; ever wonder what would happen if Thomas the Tank and Mega Man had a baby? This song. This stage. This robot master. It's actually really upbeat and fun, a great track.
End theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C75Q7bdQAQA&index=10&list=PL68DA338C7EA8D0FA; a very satisfying end theme for the game.
Megaman 6:
Centaur Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0h5kOuxuFM&index=7&list=PL2E2A41D6EB4D64F6; this track feels like greek mythology and robots had an 8-bit baby and it was awesome. Another great mysterious track, and it feels much different from the traditional style of music, and it's a welcome change.
Flame Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKHVUupbqx0&list=PL2E2A41D6EB4D64F6&index=8; fits the theme of the stage very well and stands out overall in the game.
Knight Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBZL_Iqheeg&index=9&list=PL2E2A41D6EB4D64F6; A MUCH different track than usual, but it stands as my favorite track from the game.
Tomahawk Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hz-3Xd43OGo&index=11&list=PL2E2A41D6EB4D64F6; this game just seems to nail the out of genre music, doesn't it? Makes me feel like I'm actually PLAYING a western game.
Megaman 7:
Intro Stage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1T1RZttyMwU&list=PL4019AEE8478B354E&index=3; An intro stage? IN A MEGAMAN GAME? Well, that's how the series kicked off its life outside the NES, and this track is a great introduction into the game.
Bass Theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKofgjK0ous&index=5&list=PL4019AEE8478B354E; Just like the name of the character, this track has a nice bass theme to it, and it's pretty cool as a character theme.
Freeze Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNRbJ-wLMjY&index=8&list=PL4019AEE8478B354E; This track has a cool theme and it's a nice song to chill out to.
Junk Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lK_bD7RyIU&list=PL4019AEE8478B354E&index=11; a very catchy tune that I personally love. It's also somewhat intimidating, like the robot master it represents!
Robot Museum: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPOXSlzlbKo&list=PL4019AEE8478B354E&index=15; This track starts off Mortal Kombat and then immediately turns into some of the most memorable tracks from the series in one huge mashup that I LOVE. Best track from MM7.
Shade Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QEh-xlsJk0&index=19&list=PL4019AEE8478B354E; I don't know about you, but this track sounds kinda shady.
Shade Man (Alt.): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4XPZRJknX0&index=20&list=PL4019AEE8478B354E; THIS IS LITERALLY JUST GHOSTS AND GOBLINS. AND I LOVE IT. GOOD JOB CAPCOM.
Turbo Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRodHnfPgAg&list=PL4019AEE8478B354E&index=21; very fast paced and fun, a really cool track.
Boss fight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yooYiGn6GRo&index=22&list=PL4019AEE8478B354E; I'm not a big fan of the boss fight themes for the most part, but MAN is this one rad.
Final Battle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4L0DVsWC2u4&list=PL4019AEE8478B354E&index=31; an epic final showdown between you and Wily! A great final boss theme.
Megaman 8:
Rock Man 8 Intro (japanese): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVs0z-VNnFI&index=2&list=PLBF2026BB0A977BA7; the japanese version of the intro is MUCH cooler than the English version.
Wily Theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHehHNIzCd8&list=PLBF2026BB0A977BA7&index=5; fits Wily well as a character.
Mid Boss: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuosDeGI_Ow&list=PLBF2026BB0A977BA7&index=6; This theme is bad***. not much more to say about it.
Tengu Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9p1J2rXfzwU&index=8&list=PLBF2026BB0A977BA7; very cool theme for my favorite robot master in the game.
Cut Man (remix): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m01BQzi3zek&index=13&list=PLBF2026BB0A977BA7; way better than the original theme, and a cool way to pay homage to the original game.
Duo theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkMbXr151_Y&index=14&list=PLBF2026BB0A977BA7; pretty cool theme eh? Not much to say on this one, but it's pretty good.
Search Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUC4oOXiB1I&index=16&list=PLBF2026BB0A977BA7; I love the laid back techno chill this track has to offer, and it's a standout amongst other tracks.
Final Wily: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89bohAZTPCA&list=PLBF2026BB0A977BA7&index=30; SO. COOL. Very simple, yet very tense, this track is a great final boss theme.
Rockman 8 ending (japanese) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcRp7fEpN6A&index=32&list=PLBF2026BB0A977BA7; and I like the japanese ending more than the other releases in terms of music. Very nice congrats for completing the game.
Megaman and Bass:
Tengu Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLGUPZC2tD8&list=PLC82D83AC9FAEBEB7&index=8; he's back, and with another cool theme too!
Dynamo Man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GBxTUyfWO0&list=PLC82D83AC9FAEBEB7&index=10; Megaman gets sneaky in this cool track. (As a side note, this is also the reason I haven't completed Megaman and Bass. THIS GUY DOES NOT DESERVE THIS COOL TRACK BECAUSE THE BOSS IS IMPOSSIBLE)
Boss: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpwWB-9qqzE&index=16&list=PLC82D83AC9FAEBEB7; A very cool boss theme, simple yet brilliant.
(Will update soon with the rest of the games music covered!)

To anyone who hasn't played a From Software Souls game all I'm going to say is that you really need to. And as time goes on there are more and more options to pick from of their wonderful series on many different consoles. Demon Souls in PS3, Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 on 360, PS3, PC, PS4, and XONE, and now Bloodborne on PS4. I have been playing some of Bloodborne at my friends house because I myself do not have a PS4 to play it on. However, all this aside, Bloodborne has to have one of my most favorite sound tracks from a majority of games I have played. Here are some of my favorites.
One of the biggest things that stands out to me in the soundtrack is the pacing of the songs. As people who have played the game my know, many of the bosses have different stages they go through during the fight and the music is made to that it changes nd intensifies with each of these transformations. This may not seem like much, but trust me when you are in the middle of a crazy fight like in these games the music definitely cranks up the intensity.

Split/Second was an arcade racing game in which the main gimmick was that performing stunts gave you points, which you could use to modify the track. These changes ranged from detonating petrol tankers at the side, to opening temporary shortcuts that shut behind you, or if you had a full bar, destroying part of the track and changing its route entirely. Since I am mentioning it in this thread, it should come as no surprise that it has an amazing soundtrack as well, including what I seriously consider to be one of the most underrated video game theme songs of all time:

I love how this song doesn't hit you right away, but spends about three minutes building up the song before delivering an epic ending. Despite that however, it never feels shallow and instead feels great throughout. It is also a great genre mash-up, mixing a cinematic orchestra style with electro to create a unique sound.
A lot of the other songs from the soundtrack are remixes of the main theme, and they too fit the racing atmosphere. Such as this, which essentially plays during the game's boss battles:

I am a bit sad that this game isn't discussed all that much, and that it will likely never receive a sequel. It is an excellent arcade racer and i'd recommend it to fans of that genre.

I'm surprised this masterpiece hasn't been mentioned yet:

This game is probably my favorite game in the entire series when it comes to music. There are so many amazing tracks in this game so I'll try my best to say why I love them.

Let's start with the normal galaxy themes:

Good Egg Galaxy: The first level theme, which sounds very grand and at the same time very calm.
Battlerock Galaxy: An adventurous yet calming theme.
Loopdeeloop galaxy: A more upbeat tune that sounds like you're in a race (I've probably heard this song the most since it took me forever to get past this galaxy).
Space Junk Galaxy: Incredibly calming and simply perfect.
Beach Bowl Galaxy: A much more lively tune that gives off a summer feel.
Ghostly Galaxy: Another calm yet beautiful piece that gives off a somewhat creepy/lonely feel, which is perfect for a galaxy featuring Boos.
Buoy Base Galaxy: One of my favorite songs in the entire Mario franchise. It starts off really slow but builds up into something adventurous. Shame its only used in one galaxy.
Gusty Garden Galaxy: Probably the most well-known song in the game, and for good reason. Its calm, adventurous, and just plain beautiful (like every other song in the game).
Melty Molten Galaxy: Another grand piece that also sounds mystical (1:06 is my favorite part).
Bowser's Galaxy Reactor: The final level theme, which is not so fast paced yet still adventurous. Its a great way to prepare you for the final battle.

Now the comets:
Speedy/Daredevil Comet: An incredibly suspenseful piece that really suits the mood when you have to hurry up or when you'll lose in one hit
Purple Comet: Another amazing piece, and one of my favorites in the game (gets really good at 0:59)

Rosalina themes:
Comet Observatory (Ver. 3): A beautiful piece that sounds like something you'd hear at a royal ball.
Rosalina's Story Book: I can't listen to this without tearing up a bit. Simply amazing.

Onto the boss themes:
Megaleg (also Fast version): A great song for one of the coolest boss fights in the entire game. The fast version makes it even more suspenseful.
Kamella: Mystical and fast paced, which sounds great.
Bowser Battle: Such an epic piece during a normal Bowser battle. The chorus makes it even more grand.
Final Bowser Battle: This is probably one of the greatest final battle themes I've ever heard. Everything about it is just amazing. It sounds as if you're truly settling the score between you and Bowser.

And finally...
Credits theme: The final song, which perfectly captures that makes the game and its soundtrack so great. The entire piece is a rollercoaster of emotions. It's adventurous, calming, sad (1:37), joyful, and overall perfectly wraps up the game.

While I enjoyed going through a whole series, it takes too long and the posts are too big, so I'm gonna tone it down a bit.

This time I'll be looking at just one game from a massive series, and that game is Shin Megami Tensei IV. Released for the 3DS a couple years ago, the game gave us one hell of a soundtrack that added greatly to the post-apocalyptic atmosphere the series is known for.

The Main Theme. The first song we heard from the game, from back when all we had was a teaser website. It perfectly sets the mood for everything that's about to come.
K's Tavern. A catchy song for where you take sidequests in Mikado. Mikado gives us a rare glimpse of SMT playing with a medieval setting. We don't stay there for very long, but all the music there has a bit more of a traditional JRPG feel to it, which is pretty cool to see and hear for once in this series.
Naraku Battle Theme. Probably my least favorite battle theme in the game, but it isn't bad. Somewhat intimidating for the first dungeon in the game.
Mid Boss Battle. Chaotic and catchy.
Boss Battle Theme. Again, it's chaotic, I really like this approach to the battle themes considering we are fighting demons and gods.
Tokyo. A really nice theme that plays on the world map for Tokyo.
Tokyo Battle Theme. One of my favorite battle themes in the game.
Aboveground Urban Area A. An oppressive song for when we're exploring the bloodstained streets.
VR Battle Theme. This doesn't show up often, it only plays during special puzzle battle quests, making me look forward to them even more.
Challenge Quest α. Plays during sidequests, unsurprisingly. Pretty catchy.
Challenge Quest Boss Battle. Another battle theme, it has a similar sound to the others. I like it.
Shinjuku Underground District.
Aboveground Urban Area C. Another urban area theme, I love the atmosphere of walking around in a demon infested city with this playing.
Ikebukuro Underground District. A pretty upbeat song, something that doesn't show up often in this game, it's refreshing.
Roppongi Area. A different world map theme for a change of pace, and it's pretty catchy.
Shibuya Underground District.
Tsukiji Hongwanji.
Fiend Battle Theme. A remix of Nocturne's Fiend Battle Theme. Still as good as it was there.
Challenge Quest β. Another sidequest theme. Like the last one, it's pretty catchy.
Domain Boss Battle Theme. Some metal is always a good thing.
Camp Ichigaya. So good. One of my favorite themes on the OST.
Battle A3. Really good.
Infernal Tokyo. One of two really interesting areas in the game. I won't go into more detail since we're nearing the endgame, point is that the song is really nice.
Purgatorium. One of the final dungeons.
Battle B5, and Battle B6. Themes for one of the final bosses.
Lucifer Palace. One of the final dungeons.
Archangel Battle. DLC boss battle theme. Really good.
End Credits. And this is the end. A really nice song to finish this list.

I personally really enjoyed SMT IV. I'm glad it brought back the cyberpunk elements that Nocturne was lacking, and its soundtrack helped to reinforce it. SMT IV's soundtrack is one of my favorites in recent years, it greatly builds upon the game's atmosphere all around, while also having plenty of great songs worth listening to outside of it.

Another music dump on games I want people to play, try out, or just listen to. This one is a long time running adventure/action/jrpg that's severely underrated. The way I see it, it's how a Zelda game should have evolved if they didn't try to stick to their roots so hard. Imagine if the magic casting from ALBW was the norm, Roc's Feather equipped, and the game being twice as fast. Anyway, the series also has some awesome music, which is typical from Falcom. I suggest everyone with the slightest interest to check out all these songs. The games are fantastic along with its music. If you have the time, it doesn't hurt to listen to the full song since later parts like to swap instruments around.

Ys 1&2 Chronicles - Feena
This is the song that you'll hear when you boot up the game. Very pretty sounding. After beating the first two games though, the impact this song creates is really quite strong and something else.

Ys 1&2 Chronicles - To Make the End of a Battle
Intro song for Ys 2. After completing Ys 1, you reach somewhat of a cliffhanger. Then starting two, you'll hear this Mega Man-ish song, hyping you up for what's next to explore.

Ys 1&2 Chronicles - Ice Ridge of Noltia
For such an old game, Ys 2 has one of the best soundtracks of the series. Remixed or not, they're all good.

Ys Oath in Felghana (III) - Illburns Ruins
A game I haven't gotten around to yet, but considered one of the best Ys games.

Ys Memories of Celceta (IV) - The Foliage Ocean in Celceta
Intro for Ys IV. Not too bad of an OP, I still like Ys II's more, however.

Ys Memories of Celceta (IV) - Ancient Land
One of my favorite tracks in Celceta. Amazing song when you're progressing and exploring. Less talking, more listening.

Ys Memories of Celceta (IV) - Morning After the Storm
Another good map song. Ys is full of them.

Ys Memories of Celceta (IV) - Seeking the Vanished Mask
It's the latest Ys game I beat, so the songs are still pretty fresh in my mind.

Ys Memories of Celceta (IV) - Burning Sword
Last track I'll post of Ys IV. Another track in Celceta's forest. A good one at that.

Ys Ark of Napishtim (VI) - Release of the Far West Ocean
This is the game that made the game come back from hiatus. Its new engine would be used and refined in Oath in Felghana and Origin. A pretty typical Ys opening.

Ys Ark of Napishtim (VI) - Mighty Obstacle
The boss song for this game. Has this Egyptian theme to it and starts becoming awesome around a minute in.

Ys Ark of Napishtim (VI) - The Ruined City of Kishgal
Another good sounding tune for a dungeon.

Ys Ark of Napishtim (VI) - Ernst
Easily the best boss battle of Ys VI.

Ys Origin (0) - Water Prison
A very Chrono Cross-ish sounding song. Very good. Origin is the prequel for the series. Highly suggested that people play I and II first before playing Origin.

Ys Origin (0) - Silent Desert
This song is anything but silent. The title certainly sells short on how good this track is.

Ys Origin (0) - Tension
Very different from the other tracks I've linked. Origin's entire soundtrack is amazing.

Ys Seven - Innocent Primeval Breaker
Ys Seven is the game that introduced the party system, something that carried over into Memories of Celceta and eventually into Ys 8 which should be releasing this year in Japan.

Ys Seven - Vacant Interference
Boss theme for Seven.

Ys Seven - Crossing Rage

I noticed something when I started listening to some of those Ys songs.
"Composed by Yuzo Koshiro"
Looks like he only worked on the first two games.

Let's talk about Yuzo Koshiro for a moment. He's been composing music for video games since the 80s, there's a good chance that you know the soundtrack of a game he's worked on. I actually haven't played too many games that he's worked on, but there is one series with his name on it that is very close to me.

Etrian Odyssey.

This is a series of dungeon crawlers by Atlus. Inspired by old school dungeon crawlers, Yuzo Koshiro brings chiptunes to the first three games. Once the series made it to the 3DS he switched to an orchestral style, both styles are great in their own way.

EOI - The Withered Forest. The theme of the fourth dungeon, and my favorite dungeon theme in the first game. The remix in EOU is great too.
EOI - Destruction Begets Decay. The second battle theme, it's pretty catchy. EOU's take is good too.
EOI - Fifth Dungeon. While the series isn't known for its story, the name of this song has a pretty big spoiler for the first game. Anyways, the song is pretty good, though I think it's a little too upbeat at times for the location. Again, EOU's take is good. EMD plays up the upbeat side even more, having not played this game I'm not sure what to think of this take yet.
EOI - Rising Again. Plays during an important mini boss fight. EOU's is great.
EOI - Blue and White. A really nice song for important scenes. EOU's is wonderful.
EOI - Ecstasy. Welcome to the post-game, everything wants you dead. This song is appropriately chaotic for the fights in the hellish final dungeon. I like EOU's take even more.

EOII - Cherry Tree Bridge. The fourth dungeon theme. A beautiful theme, one of the best in the series. EOU2's take is also beautiful. EMD's is an interesting take on it.
EOII - Cherry Trees and Wings. This doesn't play often, only during a couple events, but it's pretty good. And here's EOU2's take.
EOII - Inspecting the Resounding Weapons. The second battle theme. I wasn't too fond of EOII's first battle theme, but this one more than made up for it. EOU2's, The original was a little short though, so EOU2 adds to it.
EOII - Heaven's Rock Seat. The fifth dungeon. Set's the tone of the final main-game dungeon better than the first game did. I really like this theme. EOU2 does a wonderful job with its take.
EOII - Azure and Silver. A cover of EOI's Blue and White. EOU2's.

EOIII - Waterfall Woodlands. Easily my favorite first dungeon theme in the series, it's beautiful. EMD's take does a great job updating it.
EOIII - The First Campaign. The first battle theme obviously. Very catchy and still one of my favorites.
EOIII - Hoist the Sword with Pride in the Heart. The standard boss theme for EOIII, and also my favorite boss theme in the entire series. EMD's take is so good too.
EOIII - The End of the Raging Waves. The boss theme for ocean quests, one of my favorite battle themes.
EOIII - Is That Blood Thine or the Enemy's. I haven't posted an FOE theme yet have I? The dungeons in EO games are filled with minibosses called FOEs, you generally don't want to fight one when you first see it, because it will kill you. This theme perfectly captures the feeling that you should not be fighting this thing. EMD's.
EOIII - Cave of Splendor. Lava cave! A catchy theme that really fits the area.
EOIII - Those That Slay and Fall. The second battle theme. Catchy, but unfortunately EOIII doesn't have a theme for post-game battles and this shows up a little earlier than the second battle themes in other games, so the battle themes are not spaced out as good as they could be, but it's still good.
EOIII - The Blue Sea Temple of Ritual. The fourth dungeon. Really good.
EOIII - Chalky Woods. The fifth dungeon, one of my favorite dungeons in the series and I really love this music. I love EMD's take on it too.
EOIII - Cold Justice. Instead of remaking Blue and White again, EOIII decided to make its own theme for important scenes, and it's my favorite of the bunch.
EOIII - Their Own Brand of Justice. The final boss theme, and my favorite final boss theme in the series. EMD's is an interesting take on this theme. I like the original a little more, but this ends up sounding closer to a typical EO boss theme, which is cool too.
EOIII - The Vengeful God in the Dark Ocean Abyss. Here it is, my favorite theme in the whole series. This is found in the post-game dungeon, which is also my favorite dungeon in the series. A very unsettling theme, perfect for the home of a Lovecraftian horror.
EOIII - Calling That Detestable Name. Speaking of Lovecraftian horrors, the post-game final boss finally has its own theme, and I love it. EMD's is cool too, though I like the original a little more.

EOIV - Storm. The first battle theme. Catchy, I like it.
EOIV - Misty Ravine. The second dungeon. Beautiful.
EOIV - Library of Puppets. The fourth dungeon. At this point it should be no surprise that the fourth dungeon has great music.
EOIV - Faith is My Pillar. The second battle theme, and my favorite random battle theme in the series. EMD's take is good, but I like the tone of the original more.
EOIV - The Silent Wind Blows. A short, but nice theme for certain events.
EOIV - City of Radiant Ruin. My favorite fifth dungeon theme. It's a shame the dungeon itself ended up being so short, because I would have loved to hear this theme a lot more in the game.
EOIV - The Legend's Successor. Final boss and post-game final boss theme.
EOIV - The Ancient Oath. Event theme, it's nice.
EOIV - With Eyes Blazing. The post-game battle theme.
EOIV - The End of Raging Winds. A remake of the EOIII theme of a similar name, just as good as it was there. EMD's take is different than I would have expected, but pretty cool.

Looking at the number of songs posted for it, it should come as no surprise that EOIII has my favorite soundtrack of the series. Still, I love the music in all of the games, and can't wait to see what Yuzo Koshiro brings to EOV.

I think I'm gonna post some of my favorite tracks from both soundtracks for Sonic CD. I always thought the game had the best music from the series even though I mainly prefer the JP version more. The US version isn't bad, though.

Hey, I'm gonna post songs from The Last Remnant because nobody talks about that game, but it had really great music. There was a large number of locales in the game, and thus a multitude of tracks for each new town or dungeon. In addition, for some reason the game saw fit to even have a selection of battle tracks, sometimes changing the song according to how the tide of battle is going.

I suppose a deep soundtrack is to be expected of a Square-Enix JRPG, though, right?

Opening Theme - The First Awakening

Notable Exploration/Town Tracks
Creeping Shadows
Rolling Hills, Sprawling Plains
Glittering Gold
Swirling Sands
Free and Easy
Arcane Mysteries
Limberlost
The Crumbling Fortress
Old Traditions, New Methods
Echoing Hallways
Through the Tulgey Wood

Notable Battle Tracks
Clash of Opposites
Sword Sparks
The Gates of Hell
Out of Control
Nisus
Schismogenesis

Around five years ago, I bought a game on a whim. It was a little visual novel for the DS that somehow made it to NA, a Gamestop near me happened to have it and I had heard some good things, so I figured "why not".
The game was called Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. Its great atmosphere and interesting story made it a amazing addition to my DS library. A sequel called Virtue's Last Reward was released a couple years later, and now the series was known as Zero Escape. Unfortunately, while the second game ended with obvious plans for a sequel, the sales were not good enough and the series has been lying dormant since. A third game has just been announced, so let's celebrate by looking back at some of the great music from the series.

999:
Morphogenetic Sorrow.
Imaginary.
Chill and Rigor.
Extreme Extrication.
Binary Game.
Ternary Game.
Foreboding.
Recollection.
Quietus.
Septenary Game.
Digital Root.
9 Years.

VLR:
Virtue's Last Reward ~Orchestra~.
Lounge.
Biotope.
Monitor.
Q.
Placidity.
Strain.
Confession.
Clarification.
Divulgation.
Demise.
Blue Bird Lamentation.
Virtue's Last Reward ~Piano~.

Dragon Quest IX is a game that I dearly love and it has one of the best soundtracks of any game I've ever played. There is such a variety that you rarely ever get bored listening to the in-game music (unless you're grinding for hours upon hours).

Overture IX - This is the main theme of the game and gets you in the spirit of adventure. The lighthearted composition gets you ready to sail the oceans and travel from coast to coast, facing any danger that dares show its face around your brave bunch.
Intermezzo - Pretty standard menu music.
Heaven's Prayer - Also known as "The Observatory", this piece of music has a sad, but mystical and beautiful sound to it.
The Palace Oboe
Come to Our Town - Cheery little early-game town track.
Healed by a Hymn - Standard organ music.
Our Dreaming Town - Night time version of "Come to Our Town". It fits well.
Pub Polka - Captures the mood of how cheerful and bouncy the pub is supposed to be.
Alchemy Pot - A very creepy theme that doesn't sound as creepy in-game for some reason.
The Sun-Gathering Village - Another happy town theme.
Evening in the Village - Night time version of "The Sun-Gathering Village".
Tragic Prologue - Expertly composed and opens the game with a good piece of music as you fall from the Observatory.
Cross the Fields, Cross the Mountains - Adventuring theme.
Sea Breeze - Adventuring theme (in the sea).
I Won't Lose - I feel like I would like this theme if I didn't listen to it for countless hours of grinding.
Dark Den of Thieves - Theme of The Plumbed Depths.
Cave Waltz - I honestly don't remember this one.
Omen of Towering Death - Theme of the Gortress (a place equally as scary as the music)
Stella's Theme - A happy, upbeat theme for a happy, upbeat character.
Stella's Tears - A sad version of the happy, upbeat theme for a happy, upbeat character.
Riding in the Ark - The theme of the StarFlight airtrain.
Painful Feelings - A sad track related to the death of a main quest character (won't spoil it for those who haven't played this masterpiece of a game).
Swirling Desire - Boss music, don't ask me why they named it Swirling Desire.
Verse of Prayer - Related to the death of another main quest character.
With My Companions - Multiplayer, but I never heard it until I went through the OST because none of my friends ever got into DQ.
Destiny - Pretty much a shortened version of Tragic Prologue
Assemble, People - Theme of Alltrades Abby (where you go to have a class change).
Guide Them to Their Fate - Has a peaceful, eerie tone.
A Temple with No Master - Last temple, leading up to the final boss.
The Time of the Decisive Battle - Final battle theme.
Towards the Starry Sky - A loose arrangement of "The Observatory".
Protectors of the Starry Sky - A cool theme that takes a little of everything style-wise from the soundtrack.

Surprisingly, I haven't seen any mention of Supergiant games' Bastion, so I'm gonna be the one to share this beauty of a soundtrack which is in my personal top 3 of soundtracks for games.
You can find all of the songs here:
https://supergiantgames.bandcamp.com/album/bastion-original-soundtrack

My personal faves, however, would have to be -
A Proper Story
In case of trouble

And the two character themes and end theme (Zia's) (Zulf's) (End) the end theme being the best of three for a reason I'll leave anybody interested in to discover.

Other than the music, I highly recommend this game to everybody, especially if you like deep voiced narrators expertly woven into the narrative of the game.

Ok, then...

Let me start with the Pokemon series.

Pokemon has always been an awesome game series for me, and definitely one series I'd always have fun with. And I've got to say, tons of good songs spawned from this series. Here are a few of my favorites:

Vs. Zinnia, from Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNcU0gNg1pM

Lake of Rage, specifically from Gold & Silver remakes HeartGold &SoulSilver.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_91JEnNZzEE

Driftveil Drawbridge, from Black & White and its sequels.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TraPkxmj5uY&list=PL6akIKaXBeU2mXSuKQbkaZ_pU7SXG3iJA&index=20

Laverre City, from Pokemon X and Y.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95a6lAjFVvQ

Courtyard Colosseum, from Pokemon Battle Revolution.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jW9A35Lqcy8&index=7&list=PL6akIKaXBeU1ckDmw3Soi8E7OWXpp0Qny

And last but not least, Giratina's Battle Theme, from Pokemon Platnum.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWKA-JGA-3M&list=PL6akIKaXBeU2y8a2B7Wbg2eaB6JgSV7me&index=11

Seriously, whenever a new Pokemon game gets announced, I not only get excited for the new features, I also get excited for any new music that might be in the game. That's the beauty of this series as a whole for me!

Next comes Rayman 2: The Great Escape.

The Rayman series has always been one of my top favorite game series, but it's this game in particular that I love the most. Rayman 2 is what got me into gaming, as it was also the very first video game I ever played. The atmosphere was fantastic, the controls were simple, and the soundtrack was so vibrant... Here are a few songs from the game that I particularly love:

Entering the Pirate Ship, taken from the level Fairy Glade.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbC5VLrBIko

The Sanctuary of Water & Ice.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdgNtcxbVGA

The Cave of Bad Dreams.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaM2FTwcY30

The Top of the World.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96fCn-ebXxQ

The Sanctuary of Rock & Lava.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPjGfW1FZec

And last, the Final Battle at the Crow's Nest.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_ir4oAuRZQ

Actually, I love every track from the game, but those songs are just my personal favorites. If you haven't played any version of this game yet, I highly recommend that you do!

Next up is the stealth platformer series, Sly Cooper.

The Sly Cooper series was created by Sucker Punch as an answer to Insomniac's Ratchet & Clank and Naughty Dog's Jak & Daxter during the PS2 era. This series is so much fun to play around in; the characters are fun and likable, the story is interesting, and the gameplay is pretty top notch. Some of the music in this game is also fun to listen to, and most fit into the whole stealth gameplay very well. Here's a couple tracks I found to my liking:

Theme from the level High Class Heist in Sly 1.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ujsh5HjMvPc&index=5&list=PLE58A25EE716B2CF2

Theme when playing a minigame in Haiti from Sly 1.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZnH5y9-mwM

Theme from the level Bentley Comes Through in Sly 1.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-1Nyciq3aE

Theme for Operation: Hippo Drop, a mission from Sly 2.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0IQ_wyOQLw&list=PLDC0A896AF5B3728F&index=17

Theme from Episode 6 of Sly 2, when inside the cabins.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGW-qdSzDSk&list=PLDC0A896AF5B3728F&index=38

Theme from the hub world of Episode 8 of Sly 2.
Normal- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aikQCug8iF0
Spotted- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3CBRuvhd40

And finally, the theme from Episode 1 of Sly 3, during the Gondola Chase.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_T_Df-t2VM&index=6&list=PL936C77827269A10E

At the time of writing, I have yet to own Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, but I would like to get it at some point. All in all, this series is fun for me, and I always enjoy playing it when I get the chance.

Lastly in my game music list is the Mario series.

Ah, Mario. You have changed so much over the years, and your games really seem to hold up. Of course, though, this is a thread about music, and the Mario series has its fair share of tracks that I love. Here are some of my favorites:

Dire, Dire Docks.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBPbJyxqHV0&list=PL8FA3FE759E7FEE2B&index=22

Buoy Base Galaxy.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z29bt-wjS88

Castle Theme from Super Mario World.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdmS4ndSAT8&list=PLE14D89ABE94E7409&index=15

Overworld of World 8 from New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lt-E4OMWTZE&list=PLD902F5E40D382277&index=32&spfreload=10

And lastly, both parts of the Great Tower Showdown from Super Mario 3D World.
Part 1- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vhZcqbQI-8
Part 2- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dM1b3geh2wg

As Mario continues to evolve, I will always look upon it with great interest of what the future has in store for the series, no matter what ideas Nintendo may have.

Welp, those are all my favorite game tracks. Sorry about the wall of text, but I hope you guys enjoy, and take your time to listen to each song and tell me what you think.

Why is this thread dead?

I don't like that.

What I do like however, is Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze's soundtrack. This game saw the return of David Wise as the composer, and is my favorite game and soundtrack of the series.

Title Theme
Mangrove Cove, Underwater
World Map
Funky's Fly 'N' Buy
Busted Bayou - One of those silhouette stages, I couldn't stop listening to this song for a long time after I played it.
Big Top Bop - I was not expecting this song when I first played it, but I love it.
Windmill Hills
Sawmill Thrill - A crazy minecart level that I love with a great song.
Wing Ding
Rodent Ruckus
Grassland Groove - A really cool level that moves with the music, just listening to it doesn't do it enough justice honestly.
Baobab Bonanza
Frantic Fields
Scorch 'N' Torch - Another one I couldn't stop listening to after I played the level.
Twilight Terror ~ Stickerbrush Symphony - We all know the original, and I love this take on it. Interestingly, this song only plays for a small section of a rocket barrel level, many might go right into the level without noticing the song, perhaps it's meant to be an easter egg of sorts.
Twilight Terror(Rocket Barrel)
Cannon Canyon
Deep Keep
High Tide Ride
Funky Waters
Irate Eight, (Underwater), (Tension), (Chase)
Current Capers
Harvest Hazards
Reckless Ride - Another rocket barrel level. Maybe some people get tired of them, but I like the tune so I'm glad it was changed up some for each one.
Fruity Factory
Jelly Jamboree
Jammin' Jams
Frosty Fruits
Punch Bowl - Another heavy song like the first boss, I'm so glad there's a few of these here, even if they do seem a little out of place for a Donkey Kong game.
Homecoming Hijinx - I loved this song ever since I heard it in one of the trailers, it plays in a couple levels, my favorite easily being the silhouette level of the final world.
Seashore War
Aquaduct Assault
Blurry Flurry
Forrest Folly
Frozen Frenzy
Volcano Dome - Final Boss theme
Staff Credits - Oddly, the full song isn't played in game, a shame because it's great
Secret Seclusion - Welcome to post-game hell, with the most upbeat music possible.
Temple ~ DK Island Swing
Temple II

Such a fun game with an amazing soundtrack.

I've been listening to the Undertale OST a ton, and there are so many gems in there. And lots of tunes that you'll listen to, and then not immediately get grabbed by, and then listen to them on a different day and be totally entranced.

Here are a couple of my favourites!

Heartache: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xflkF-sqNaM

Alright,so i got two problems here:
1,I'm just now finding this thread!?

2. The lack of Tekken here disturbs me,so be prepared for some Tekken beats!
before i was playing Smash 4 a bunch, I was playing Tekken Tag Tournament 2 a bunch. i knew some frame data,a few tag teams here and there to mix it up,and ofc the Tekken Tunes. The games hold a nice place in my heart, because when i first played,i had no Memory Card for the game,so all nighters all around!

I haven't played all of them, but i have listened to some awesome songs, with favorites ranging from T3 all the way to T7!

Tekken 4. The soundtrack for this game is so zen. so glad i listened to it.

Tekken 5. T4's got the zen,but this and 6 bring some hype.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 took the combo system up a notch. even though i wasn't the best at the game,it was nice playing Bryan and Bruce together and see them take off half a characters life in one combo. lots of music was on point here.

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow is one of the Castlevania games that I don't see discussed often. Initially released for the Game Boy Advance in 2003, Aria of Sorrow not only took influence from Symphony of the Night in terms of gameplay (Metroid-esque exploration, RPG elements, etc.), but also added new features including the Soul System in which the game's protagonist, a high school student named Soma Cruz, could obtain his enemies' powers after defeating them, and featured a unique storyline compared to the rest of the series. It's arguably one of the better entries in the Castlevania franchise. If you're a Castlevania fan and you haven't played this game yet, then I highly recommend tracking down a physical copy or downloading it via the Wii U eShop for $7.99.

The quality of the music, while limited by the GBA's sound chip, is as good as you would expect Castlevania music to sound on Nintendo's 32-bit handheld. Much like in Symphony of the Night, each area has its own theme music that compliments it and the atmosphere of the game well.

Castle Corridor
Chapel
Library
Dance Hall
Floating Garden
The Arena
Underground Reservoir
Forbidden Area
Clock Tower
Top Floor
Confrontation (Boss Theme 1)
Heart of Fire

The soundtrack CD that accompanied the PS2 game Castlevania: Lament of Innocence featured haunting orchestral arrangements of a few Aria of Sorrow tracks.

Destined Cruz (Castle Corridor)
Requiem for the Dark Souls (Chapel)
Holy Cross Obsessed by the Moon (Top Floor)
