Well, for anyone that thinks a Pokemon trainer can't fight. Grab your Pokemon game, go to the Safari Zone, and you can do many nasty things to the Pokemon there without the need of Pokemon of your own. Like throwing rocks or bait to them, playing the Poke flute, sprinkling Sudowoodos with a watering can. I know that any trainer that faces alone to a legendary Pokemon is as good as dead. But they can manage to beat up people at SSBB.
Like everyone said, May chances are very unlikely. But now that almost all the good characters were suggested, all what's left are some random character ideas that still have very small chances to get in.

Mewtwo is evil in the games. That never changed. The anime just ruined him. I do fear that with Mewtwo being the lowest of teirs, that they may end up replaceing him with Deoxys.

10 year old girls in anime/games are adoreable, so I wouldn't mind player with her with Jigglypuff as my partner, as we take on the non-adoreable Pikachu and Pichu.

Bad example, because even though Falcon never fought in the games, he is a Bounty Hunter, so he is sure to of had experience in fighting. Dr. Mario and G&W are better examples.

I know that any trainer that faces alone to a legendary Pokemon is as good as dead.

Like Ash when he went up against Mewtwo. I was so happy once I saw Ash die, only to have my heart broken by Ash coming back to life from Pokemon tears. That was beyond the gayest thing I've ever seen, and I NEVER use the word gay. **** Ash should of stayed dead -.- Could of replaced him with the Gold/Silver hero.

In finish, I want to bang an imaginary Gameboy character too! XD

The female trainer of Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire would be also called May (or Sapphire). When some people still hangs on the annoying, yet valid excuse "only pokemons represent Pokemon". I think seeing a trainer would be a fun and still possible choice. And May is the one of the most popular trainers, just next to Red (thanks to the anime).
As for the moveset, maybe you should limit the "summon Pokemon" moves to HM moves, like:
Bup-Fly. May calls her Swellow and she hangs from him. The Swellow can fly for a limited time and then he returns to its pokeball.
But for the moment, this thread deserves this:

Ash would be called Red if he ever made it in...what would May be called? I never played beyond Blue and Yellow, so I don't know May's default name.

May is her defult name in the games with her in it.

Its a good idea and I agree that some of the summoning moves could be changed. She would add another female character.

Moving to the Sky Uppercut- she doesn't have to do an uppercut with Blaziken, just hang on to the Pokemon and get a boost while Blaziken pummels opponents upward.

Then again, I had Roy's UpB in mind when I thought up that move, so I'll have to work on that.

But yeah, you guys are right about me having to work on the summoning moves a bit. BUT THE SUPER SMASH STAYS.

I'm glad most everyone's OK with the idea. I got tired with having Pokemon fill ALL of the Pokemon part of the roster, so I thought a trainer would be a bit more interesting.

And I got a "sorta-seal-of-approval" from Tomasiarty (sp?)! How nice.

Well, there has been a 'Red for SSBB' topic. As well as a 'Misty for SSBB' topic. I'm more surprised there hasn't been a 'Jessie and James for SSBB' topic or a 'Team Rocket for SSBB topic'.

Actually, I'd think Jessie and James would be pretty good. They were in Pokemon Yellow, and Pokemon Puzzle League. As well as had a bonus in SSBM. Like, give Jessie the moveset, and make James a clone, or costume with his own voices. I can imagine their B moves involveing Arbok, Wheezing, Meowth, and Wobblefet. Too bad Wobble is already an item. Meh, I just want to Star KO or Rocket KO Team Rocket.

Anyone got a good idea for an UpB move I can use for May other than Sky Uppercut? It can't have lag, and it shouldn't leave her open to attack. It should also be able to attack the opponent.

Then there's the popularity factor with people liking the pokemon more than the trainers.
