“Panelists voted on a 1-10 scale with the best player receiving a “10” and the worst player on the list receiving a "1." Ballots that were not scaled properly were rescaled using an algorithm to place the best player at a “10” and the worst player at a “1.” This was then rescaled to a 1-100 scale. To reduce the variance, the highest and lowest three scores were removed from the average.”
The panelists voting on the SSBMRank are known to us, and feature some interesting individuals this year. Most notable is the inclusion of a single South Korean panelist, Glenn “KayB” Kim. As of this writing there are no players representing any East Asian countries on the SSBMRank; it remains to be seen whether any appear higher on the list. Other interesting panelists include top player MIOM #2 (Summer 2017 Ranking) Juan “Hungrybox” Debiedma, seasoned TOs Matthew “MattDotZeb” Zaborowski and Robin “Juggleguy” Harn, and veteran player and streamer Hugo “HugS” Gonzalez. Hungrybox is the only top five MIOM ranked player to participate in this year’s SSBMRank.
This SSBMRank will release lists of players each day, with breaks on weekends, in increments of ten players per list. As of this writing, players ranked 100 through 71 have been published. The list will end with the top ten players being published on the 16th of January.
