Smash 3DS Misinputing on the 3ds? Not lag related

I'm having a hard time with tilts/smashes, and find myself doing stuff in the wrong direction because the joystick movement didn't register. I'll also end up doing a neutral-b instead of an up-b and doing a very embarrassing SD.

I have the new 3ds, and it isn't even a year old. I've tried re-calibrating with no change in gameplay.

Anybody else have this issue? Do I just need to git gud?

It seems you have circle pad problems. I would try moving it in multiple games and/or applications on that same N3DS to make sure its functional. While doing this you should want to pay attention to the direction you move the circle pad when inputting. If you find yourself moving it in the wrong way yourself... yeah... I guess http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/facebook/000/693/282/c81.gif. And if the circle pad is misbehaving... Its the N3DS. Anyway I have went through a 3DS, 3DSXL and now I'm using the fabled N3DS as we speak, and I have never had this problem myself. Well if the N3DS is malfunctioning, then I would 1. Google or 2.Send it to Nintendo. Hope you fix this problem soon.
