Hey guys! I'm heading out to my first ever local event this week and think I could use some critique for help in preparation for it. I've got quite a few vids on my channel that could be watched, but I'll throw three on here that I think best showcase my strength + weaknesses.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnyKtkyeHaY (:4falcon:)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfQ3337qyks (:4zss:)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmulWFetEDI (:4link:)

So with definitely being below professional level, any of you really good players are probably gonna look at these and want to write a book. The golden things I really want to know:

What is the #1 thing I need to start doing? (AKA If you don't get this down right now you're screwed)

What is the #1 thing I need to stop doing? (AKA This right here is why you're losing)

If you've got a little bit of time it'd be very much appreciated!

Thread isn't active, Foxboards in general isn't active. So really, can't expect much.

And Foxus, who the heck links to a For Fun match.

Remember me saying I was going to update this thread? Yeah maybe next week:yeahboi:

Holy **** why, this is impossible for me name each individual player, is this some sort of curse you're trying to cast?
It's in the description. I just don't know how to read Japanese. Also, not my fault the terminalkai people uploade those videos like that. The tournament videos are by set rather than monstrosities like this.
y0cChaN(よっちゃん) ― らっち~
★WiiU 20:58
5 にける ― おっ!
6 あかぶち ― ライ
7 翼 ― りゅーさん
8 シキ ― どにっく
9 れあ ― グレイフォックス
10 すけこっこ ― キータン
11 そめ ― ジル
Another video on that channel had Earth, the Pit player, fight KEN, a Sonic player, and I didn't know since Earth's tag was written in Japanese characters unlike KEN which was literally KEN.

Hey guys! I'm just beginning to play competitive smash and would appreciate if someone would critique my fox. I know I have heaps to learn in terms of general smash meta, and I feel a bit restricted playing with a 3DS as a controller so I feel as if there are some techs/combos I can't pull off efficiently. My match goes from 7:00 - 15:30 and I vs Marth/Roy.

- First game the biggest thing I noticed was not-optimal punishes. Towards the beginning you seemed to go for F-smash a lot when he'd whiff a jab or something minor, when you should've gotten a grab or even just an up-tilt to set up combos. Towards the end, it was the other way around. He'd whiff a dash-attack or an F-smash (which has huge endlag) and then you'd just F-tilt or jab when you could've up-smashed or forward-smashed.

- Second thing I noticed it that you're throwing out too many smash attacks in general. For example: towards the start of the first match when he was on that platform, there was no way he would have or even could have come down in time to get hit by that - and also when you ran to raw Up-smash on his shield towards the end. You have to commit carefully and wait for your opponent to mess up instead of hoping to get lucky.

- Minor thing, but when your opponent's on the platform above you it's probably a better idea to short-hop up-air than just up-smash. It does more shield damage, has less lag and your up-smash won't get stale.

- It's kind of hard to be concrete about, but in this match particularly you could've benefited a lot by baiting more. Your opponent liked to throw out laggy moves like side-B and F-smash, but it seemed like you weren't ready for the punish when he did. Just run around a lot and don't stay still, dipping in and out of his sword range, then grab or dash attack when he commits to something slow.

Hope this helps. Over-all not bad play, you did win after all. I think just solid hours of practice are the main thing you're in need of.

Before asking for critique, go watch a lot of the videos in this thread

The current top players would be, Larry and MegaFox, which we have quite a few videos off in this thread.

Between that Feel Tension and Snow(ballbob) are also worth while due to their weekly appearances in Xanadu.

So watch and learn from those who are further ahead! But remember Fox isn't that great on wifi compared to offline!

Foster J. Foster J. Turrin Turrin Ok thanks guys! Yeah I have a lot of mis-inputs using the 3DS as a controller which I feel would be fixed if I had a proper wired controller. I don't have the chance to play on a Wii U a lot so I don't trust the timing for me to pull off SH uairs on battlefield platforms. Ftilts always convert to usmash on a 3ds controller which I know ill get punished for and it doesn't help at all with a bit of input lag from wireless controllers.. Foster J. Foster J. Yeah I do watch people like Larry and MegaFox and I take a lot of notes. Thanks again!

Hey, everyone.

I'm not really that special, just some random mid-level Fox wondering if this is the right place to find critique.

It seems the topic focuses on high-level play, though it is named a critique thread.
I'm not all too familiar with how topics work outside socials, so I apologize if I'm in the wrong place.
I'm not looking to have my play featured at all, or else I wouldn't come near this thread with a For Glory video. I'm just looking for critique if that's alright, since I'm working hard to bring my Fox to the level of my Roy. I really want to use him in a WiFi bracket next week, where matches will be sent to one user and uploaded.

I recorded half an hour of matches with different players, which is featured here:

If I'm doing anything wrong, if you have any advice on getting the kill and ways I can kill confirm better, if there's little kinks in my play I could tweak, or if I'm not utilizing anything enough, please let me know. Anything and everything helps.

Thank you Mav for redirecting me here :)
Here's my Fox! (I'm trying to lean away from For Glory and into some tourneys/Anther's Ladder.)

anyone see anything I need to work on.
I know it's for glory because of the 3 minute limit sorry. Just looking to correct any bad habits I'm not seeing myself doing.

http://youtu.be/0uQqd-Yjlms

wifi is sooo different to offline play, for glory even more so, that its kinda hard to really get a feel for how you'd play offline from watching a for glory replay, you'd be much better off posting footage of you playing at a tourney or something if you want good constructive feedback

Played NEO on for glory last night and got some solid games with him. I'll post them here before next week.

I know luke but I don't have a capture card so the 3 min limit doesn't enable me to link those. My locals use 3 stocks so any match under that is just gonna be one player being stomped which would help even less.

An eager beaver uploaded some sets from Genesis 3; Larry Lurr's Fox vs. Fatality's Captain Falcon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-J2OaJUR0H0. Gonna assume that, officially, all of the sets on stream will be on showdowngg's Youtube channel, but for those also wanting to analyze some Genesis 3 sets now, go ahead.

I need some critique on my playstyle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eiy-KsR08XM
Is online: the problem is that where I live streaming is like 0 everywhere, and when i play with friends, we have never used my console.
I post this particularly bc was a match like lagless and that respect how I tend to play the most.
EDIT: there is also a replay of a crew battle. :s My matches starts at 36:40. Played vs a Diddy and a Falco (https://youtu.be/Yh2KwtmYDIA?t=36m40s)

If I was to say something, then you're just making a few mistakes in neutral, and not really playing optimising in terms of weaving in and out, but stuff like that is hard to judge from a few videos, I'd say you may approach too much and not go back'n fourth enough.

Also sorry about me being lazy, tons of things going on, but I haven't forgotten this thread

Can't the opponent shield after the butt hitbox of f-tilt? D-tilt comes out on frame 7, and that's not counting the turn-around frame to hit the opponent. Still a cool mixup though.

I was testing this out myself before but it really just isn't worth testing, there are too many variables that could mess up if you get one of the 2 tipper hit-boxes of D-tilt, which do combo, or any of the other hitboxes, which don't. Your opponent's percent, your percent, how inside of their body you are when doing the reverse f-tilt/butt f tilt/ whatever you wanna call it, and whether or not you're playing on a grassy stage.

Hey guys! Relatively new Fox main (co main with Ness) and I got on stream at my local last night. Iggy is our best Rosa and I'm pretty pleased with how I did for the most part. I kind of dropped the ball in games 2 and 3, though. Any and all advice is appreciated!
