Hey to everybody who is eager to learn this amazing new tech.

I present:

Percentage cancelling.

not quite the right name for what happens but still fun
[/lame]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSvtGYBPvro&feature=related

is a video showing the tech

starting from 1:44 .. the IC's CG a Link.
Notice when the % of Link says 66% for the first time, the second iceblock doesn't add 1% extra after that, it just stays at 66%, then it starts counting again..

BUT THEN!!

When Link's percentage is 70% it just stops... even though the Iceblocks still hit Link..

DEFENSIVE AT !!!!

but seriously...
what happens there?

That's a glitch. It has to be. It's probably also a one time thing. See if you can do this again.

Ice blocks do very, very little damage.

And (someone) correct me if I'm wrong, but they do even less as they get smaller.

And they've staled by that point. They are just doing so little damage that the % hadn't changed yet.

It happened earlier in the video too, by the way.

Its probably the damage properties of the block, or like the recently discovered specials that stop momentum, overlooked.

Some of the games attacks are so weak that they do less than 1% like Lucario's pummel and the Ice Climber's Ice Blocks if they are heavily decayed. I think Fox's lazer eventually reaches this point too but I've never tested it.

I'm pretty sure tiny ice blocks at the end of their range stale all the way to 0%. I'd have to do further testing, but from what I've seen, they literally do not damage opponents.

No ones making fun of the thread title?

Ice blocks do less damage the smaller they get I think. Also I think they have a liiiittle less knock back.
But I could just be imagining it.

lol ^

But yeah, its just getting stale, and I believe the ending parts of the ice block do less damage. This happens with some other character's moves too.

Go into Melee, grab 2 luigis, do the luigi ladder, you will notice only every other hit does 1% damage. They are each doing about 0.5% damage. This is what is happening here. No glitch. No need to call it anything. It's not a new tech. You aren't even canceling anything.

Have a great day and I hope you have fun.

Lol at being serious about the title i gave this thread, and yeah, i didn't really check for spelling hahaha

But on topic again..
Does this mean that using the Ice blocks like falco's laser lock is now proven to be pretty useless?
I mean.. it only get the opponent further away from you leaving you with no options for attacking after the iceblock that gets the other over the edge..

Just because it does no damage doesn't mean it's useless.

Percentages in brawl are actually decimal increments. As had been stated before me, the attack had staled to the point of doing "0.25%" or less.

The game actually calculates damage by decimals, so its possible to get less than 1%.
