Oh, man. I see Knuckles being like a small Ganon. Really hope they add him in eventually. Definitely would be a character worth investing time in to learn.

No, not really, I kinda see him like a sort of cross between DK and Sonic.
pretty sure he means he could see Knuckles being built from Sonic like Ganondorf is from Captain Falcon. you know, slower and stronger.

wait, they both float now. maybe he was being literal.

I dunno. I personally don't see the point in having a new character who's a representative of a series that already has characters playable.

Lyn is an okay choice because she seems like she'd have really interesting moves, but Takamaru would probably have the same moves too.

... what? Knuckles is "pointless" because we already have Sonic from the same series, but Lyndis is okay despite the fact we have Roy, Marth and Ike? think before you post, man.

but Takamaru would probably have the same moves too.
oh-so no.

I wish people would play his game. the most he has in common with Lyndis is his curved sword - otherwise he's got a projectile array comparable to Sm4sh's Megaman or Link, while the sword's main use is in last resort strikes or blocking incoming projectiles. he's a ninja in samurai's clothing if anything.

That's an argument against any further metroid reps, y'know.
And I'm actually someone who's content with gaining Dark Samus or Anthony Higgs.

Dark samus would be sick, for phazon effects you could even borrow lucario's Aura element and the new light element

The PSA is not even close to finished, it's getting better at least.

Dark Samus would be sick, lol my only problem is that I'd hear "Samus" 3 times in the CSS which is kinda wack X)

We already have two Samus in the CSS, and apart from being HUGE Ridley wouldn't add any interesting thing to the game. While PM already has Lucario I don't think they're interested in another character who changes the meta like the idea I proposed earlier of having Ridley play by his own rules, kinda like the two giants in TvC.

Why does it need to be either of those as a new Metroid rep anyway? Why can't it be either Sylux with his cool-as-**** bombs (if they managed to pull them off), Weavel with the ability of separating his body, using the plasma sword he has in the intro of Metroid Prime Hunters and his awkward projectiles or Noxus with his ice abilities (the only other characters that have ice powers of any kind are ICs and Samus in her ice mode)? And I'm sure they could also make something cool with Spire and Kanden (not so sure about Trace since we already have R.O.B. as the sniper).

I would also suggest Gorea as a character with the ability to transform between his first and second forms, being closer to Samus' ice mode/fire mode than Zelda/Sheik thus being a single character instead of two separate characters that need to be balanced separately. But there's no sticker nor trophy for him.

...Well to be fair, there aren't many well-known Metroid characters besides Ridley.. And although I really want Ridley to be in the game, I could stand to see someone from another game series in his place.

Then again, that would mean no Ninten either...

I guess I'm just biased towards having the characters from the classic roster's universes.

Because 3 out of 5 of my votes are villains of the classic franchises.

Yeah Metroid is a series that doesn't have many recurring characters, the only characters that have showed up in multiple Metroid games is Samus(obviously lol), Ridley and Dark Samus iirc. Sylux idk if he appeared in any other games besides Metroid Prime Hunters

Sylux appeared in the ending of Metroid Prime 3 Corruption and Metroid Prime's producer said that he would like to make a new game about the relationship between Samus and Sylux.

Also the friendly creatures from Super Metroid also appeared in Fusion. I don't think they would make a cool character though.

Dude, don't be so.... critical.
No?

Bagan's mod is pretty good for the effort spent, but it's only skin deep. the problem with it is that unlike every other character in the game - especially those dramatically overhauled by the PMDT - I have no idea what bagan's Ridley is meant to be.

Marth? a character that makes light fast strikes prioritizing spacing.
Roy? fastfalling marth who plays in the opposite.

Ganondorf? a character that is supposed to capitalize on mistakes and punish heavily.

Bowser? a character that tanks attacks and lands his own devastating blows.

Wolf? Juggle into Side-B.

B's Ridley? be a giant, purple space dragon. that's all i get.

which he has done, and done well. but as far as being a character in a fighting game, it's terrible.

I don't think it's a matter of you being correct, which you are, but a matter of being just a wee bit harsher than most people are accustomed to.

I beg to differ - he seems like a character who's extremely painful to be on the ground, but in the air, is an absolute floaty machine who tosses his enemies around a lot... Just like Charizard...Who is also a giant purple space dragon... Errr... Waitaminute...

Of course, that could be because Ridley's ground-based animations are a bit broken on the ground compared to in the air. That jab and that running animation physically hurt. That's only with a few minutes of the beast. I think if Project M were to do Ridley, they shouldn't simply adopt the popular Ridley mod and instead, create their own thing with inspiration from the mod.

Ridley seems to me like if Charizard was Fox, Ridley would be Wolf.

Basically, a lot of similar moves, but Ridley pushes you around a lot frickin' more, he makes most of the cast combo food, but barely loses to his rival all the time.

I want to like Bagan's Ridley a lot.. But the Other M-style skin disgusts me. No matter how much he says the Brawl one was garbage, I still prefer it because at least it looks exactly like the Ridley I grew up with, and it doesn't remind me of 50 Shades of Samus: The Game.

On the bright side, he'll be doing a Super Metroid-styled model with a slightly different moveset at some point. I think he's gonna edit the Brawl model slightly to do it but it should look more like you remember Ridley.

To me it seems that most people want new characters in PM based on origin or to represent a game, but to me it would be more about enhancing game play. Take Ridley for example, a large character with most likely multiple jumps. Sound familiar? I'm sure he would be very unique compared to DDD if he were added, but the only real reason people want Ridley is because he is from the Metriod series which lacks representation. I would rather have a made up character that adds depth and a unique aspect to the game (Lucario AC, or shell shifting) instead of a big character that most will play once then go back to some other character. Now this might be biased because of my love for fast characters but I enjoy fast faced entertaining sets while I play PM, and I'm not sure that wanting a character just for game rep is a bad way of deciding what character should be added to PM. Now this isn't to say that both of these criteria can't be filled, someone like Issac of Sora could be great candidates that would add new fresh experiences to PM which would be a wonderful thing to have. This is just my opinion so tell me what you guys think.

"50 Shades of Samus: The Game" ?

I swear, if you make another horrible reference, I will literally give all the h8rs the Steam Greenlight to go ahead and rant. I odn't get it, and neither does anyone else.

I get what you're saying, some of the characters we want don't bring something new to the table. The thing is though imo it's a lil hard to bring something new at this point because some character archetypes aren't possible in Smash that exists in traditional fighters. 1st off there's the fact that everyone has the same inputs for their moves, that alone prevents PM from introducing a charge character (Guile for example). Charge characters rely on walking backwards which you can't do in the Smash, characters always walk forward. Then there's the fact that in TFGs characters have different dashes, some characters can continously run, some take like a slight leap, others have dashes that have them go low to the ground to avoid projectiles, I've even seen characters that teleport for their dash which lets them cross people up as well as avoid projectiles. In Smash everyone runs, just at different speeds and different heights. Plus with 40+ characters it's hard to really make characters truly unique without thinking way outside the box (Lucarios new moveset for example), the problem with that is that a lot of people don't like characters that break certain rules of Smash (I don't know who made these rules though lol). Charge characters, Rekka characters, mixup characters, these are just some of the types that aren't possible in Smash (imo) but who knows maybe the PMDT has a way to make these types possible

I do feel that smash limits itself in many ways like you said with running and what not, but I think Ryu in smash 4 shatters that expectation. People might disagree the PMDT implementing characteristics foreign to smash, but to see that a character in the Official smash game that has something entirely unique and new to the series should show that it is ok to push the boundary of the norm for characters. I don't however know the technical limitations of the PMDT, it be that something too unique is not possible to do in PM.

I will never understand the hardcore Ridley fans. Other M Ridley looks muscular and healthy with badass animations.
While Brawl Ridley looks like a dragon on crack with ******** animations. Nothing like his manga adaption. Bagan improved Ridley in every way. I actually didn't like Ridley till I seen Other M Ridley. I see now why Ridley supporters are so bashed because the majority wanted a horribly skinny Ridley that just don't work in Smash and shouldn't.

To begin, I'm not trying to start a debate or an argument, just a healthy discussion.

The thing about that is.....That opinion went in both directions, there were detractors who thought Other M Ridley still didn't work from a design standpoint meaning they thought the general idea of Ridley being playable didn't work because alot of them said: "Being big is apart of his character", or "Ridley is all about flying and wingspan" (Guess those people never read the canon manga and just projected their own thoughts of what made Ridley Ridley).

Either design can work, and looking "********" is subjective, and whatever design the fans of Ridley favored, they still shouldn't have been bashed for it regardless. So just because something looks "********" to you and doesn't to others they should be demeaned, insulted, and attacked for it? That just doesn't make sense. I'm not saying you said it was okay or anything, what I'm trying to convey is the whole situation around Ridley should've never exploded like it did. It's sad that all of that controversy was all because a group of people simply wanted a damn fictitious character in a fighting game.

Will voting ever be reopened? I think we ought to see how opinions have changed now that Smash 4 is out and DLC is here.
It has generally been agreed that voting will be reopened once new characters are revealed. At this point, however, I believe JCOnyx is still the running the show around here, so we'll see what happens when that time comes. It is also possible voting will be altogether restarted.

Oh, okay, I had no idea. That sounds pretty reasonable. I for one think that voting should be totally restarted when that day comes.
