This is essentially the INC, albeit not talking about the needle cancel into move instead of going into a shield option. Good video to help explain part of the INC and needle canceling. (We're calling it the INC right guys? Haven't checked back on the thread yet)

a grab is just a shield+a input... if you can cancel something with shield you can cancel it with grab

yea, the z input is just shield+a, it's why you air dodge in midair in s4 and why you can aerial with z in melee/brawl
