Umm....how do we input the values? Or are we waiting for Almas to finish his super condensed character specific traits code thing?

This is meant to be what he will put in for his super condenses code, I think the current codeset is too complicated for us to be able to do it :-\

@Paprika: From your personal experience, or you think I havent brought it down enough?

grav at 1.15 and SH at 1.05 lowers his insanely high SH by almost nothing. SH of 1 or even 0.95 would suit him better

I would make sure that you add a small amount to everyone's full hop to people you have gravity on. I see a lot of characters that have over 1 grav with no change to their full hop. I think a basic formula to go by is to up the full hop by half of the change in gravity.

I can't wait to test those values.

And don't forget that Snake and Ike were in dire need of a higher full hop (Ike couldn't get of the ledge with just a ledgehop or get on upper platforms with both his jumps, and Snake's full jump is pathetic)

Ill update in a bit with said changes.

Edit: Updated, for those characters with slight up grav increases (1.05), I did not adjust their full hop as 1.025 is not a value we can input into the codeset according to Almas' other post.

Did you use your and my results (and Dark Sonic's agreement to them) to make the basics for this list?

What do you mean by that Almas?

Also, is it easier to plan each and every character seperately or to change a few that need it only?

Pit needs a higher full/double jump. None of his ledgehopped aerials auto cancel anymore. And it takes him 3 jumps (full hop+2 midair jumps) just to reach the top platform on battlefield (it used to take two).

Each of the variables can have one of 16 different values, which we can choose. The variables in this case are SH Height, FH Height, Grav etc.

I think it's better to just set a baseline for everyone then tweak everyone over time. The new code will be easier to modify (to the point of people being able to modify it), so you won't have to wait a few days just to change one value.

That said, the more vital balancing features need to be tweaked on a per-character basis very carefully. But I think this is more about making every character feel natural and unique rather than balancing them using it.

Yes I did Cape, please look through at the red ones compared to the old values (everything got multiplied by around .95, and then i manually adjusted the red ones a bit)

I test with Bowser and it's much better than what I previously thought. I tested in training mode before, which is apparently a no-no. For some reason it was incredibly difficult to SH, and when I did it went much, much higher than normal.

My only complaint is that it's very difficult to klaw-hop with SH at its current height, but maybe I need to work on it a bit more.

That's very odd... My codes should be working perfectly in training mode...

You gave MK 1.35 for something when 1.35 was not a value.

Seems stable. Should stack with other codes (spunits' animation speed changers, just put any old value in the old location for SH etc.) - It's short enough now that we can fit in my old merger code and give a stable release after some testing.

wow, nice. one question: is it gravity, upgrav or downgrav that the second code does? and what does the first actually modify?

The first sets dash speed to 1.15, then sets SH, FH, FF and DGrav depending on character.

The second sets grav depending on character - or sets grav to 1 for certain moves (The Up+B of D³, DK, Booser, Link, Toon Link most notably).

I'd love to put this on my Wii, but I need some help since I'm not a coder at all. With the other list, which codes do these replace? I can take it from there no problem.

the "constant writes" is replaced, as well as the 2 very long char specific, I'm not sure about the dashing etc since there is also spunits merger code. better wait for a reply from almas

I'll produce a codeset in a few hours, using my old merger code instead of some of spunits' stuff to avoid the glitches.

Sounds like a plan there big <3. Once you post the codelist I will hop on there and test it out. Then I have to travel all day tomorrow, so I wont get to talk to you guys til tomorrow night (so have tons of stuff to test).

Is this the code that can be easily changed? If so, how do we change it if we wanted to experiment with values?

The first two numbers correspond with the character ID.

00=Mario
01=Dk
etcetc

Almas said:
XXABCDEF

XX is the character's ID, and the following characters define the value for up to 6 different things: Short Hop Height, Full Hop Height, Gravity, Downwards Gravity, Fast Fall Speed, and one other, to be assigned at a later time (air mobility seems like a candidate for this - dash speed also if we decide not to have a straight increase across the board). Because this value can be anything from 0 to F, we have 16 values that can be used. Because of the structure of the code, there is no efficiency loss (and only half a line per value loss) for using this many, which should be suitable for customizability.
Look on the first page for the values we used and the list of what we used.

I get the constant writes. I don't get which are the two very long char specific codes.

The first two characters are ID. (00, 01, 02 etc.)

Then, it is: SH/FH/FF/DGrav/Grav. The value written there corresponds to the value in the table in the OP.

So, to choose an arbitrary line:

0A6664A0

means the character with ID 0A (Ness) has 6 (->1.05) for Short Hop, Full Hop and Fast Fall, 4 (->1.00) for Downwards Gravity, and A (->1.15) for Overall Gravity. At this point in time, the 0 is a placeholder.

Ganon still feels like all his jumps are too low
Sheik feels great
Link feels good, up and B still sucks?
ZSS feels great
Samus feels good
Pit SH uair needs to autocancel, and ledgejumped fair and bair at least (bit too much grav)
ROB feels good
ICers up and B still sucks, lose height on forward B with sole ICer
Dedede feels heavy in the air again. Needs to feel blimpy
Fox feels AMAZING
Falco doesnt feel fastfallery anymore
Wolf still has a SH fair autocancel problem
Lucario feels good
Ike feels right
Snake full jump still blows
Sonic up and B sucks

Is the crouch cancel on the running going to be in a new merger code?

I put together a code list with this and I dont have that or the auto L cancel.

Link's Up+B is the same strength as it is in VBrawl despite Link having Grav >1. I guess it can be boosted further for a couple lines...

Dedede has VBrawl Grav... Should it be lower than what it normally is?

Sonic should have the same height from his UpB as normal, too.

They felt different to me. Maybe I did something wrong with the code, who knows.

The last test we did Sonic up and B felt fine and Dedede had the right physics, they feel wrong now. I dont know why.

ok so I ported it over, works perfectly (and yes DDD should be more floaty.) still have to add other codes to see how the entire thing feels, but this is already amazing

@Cape-Can you post your codeset or something. Mine is glitching out (or rather, it's more like something is horribly wrong with the ALR, Lagless ledges, and Jump speed values) and I really don't know how to fix it.

Huh, you're right, Sonic's Up+B does definitely seem crummy... Maybe I made a mistake somewhere...

ok, I used the old auto L-cancel, dash cancel, lagless ledge and buffer mod (I need to merge these), hitstun, no FF on C-stick, no tipping, no stale + fresh, DD, shieldstun, hitlag, triple jump glitch, no ASL, PS window mod.
and then of course above three.
total of 209 lines.

the game feels amazing =O
after a few short matches:
fox is good
CF is great
DDD too heavy
ROB is good
lucario is totally beast I tell you, though a bit heavy, but it's still good.
lucas is weird, his sideB makes him slide alot
and then there is kirby...
kirby is like melee jiggly but a lot faster. simply amazing.
