I'm not sure how this should be counted here.

1st of 26 : Defend this House - Smash @ Xanadu Amateur : 7/25/15

So at this Xanadu tournament, there were 64 people entered into the overall tournament. They broke it up into 8 pools of 8 and each pool played round robins. The top 4 from each pool moved onto the "pro" bracket while those who didn't could if they wanted to stay for the Amateur bracket. I got placed into a not ideal bracket for me. Of my 7 opponents, there were 4 Sonics and 1 shiek I'm just not comfortable in those 2 matchups. I did go to game 3 in most of those, but didn't win a single game 3. There were virtually no sonics in the other pools when I was watching so it was kind of frustrating. I stuck around for the Amateur bracket and tore through it easily (Rosalina & Luma 2-0, Sonic 2-1, Bowser 2-0, Mario 3-0). I felt I belonged in the top 32, but just had a bad setup in pools.

So I sort of won a tournament, but I didn't really win THE tournament. So like I said, idk how that should be counted here, if at all.

I'm not sure how to format and link this but...

3rd out of 23 :: Star Video Tournament Huntington Park #2 :: Huntington Park, CA :: 7/28/15

http://challonge.com/StarVideoHPMain2

I'm really disappointed by the events that transpired during this that resulted in my placing. I'll post about it in the general thread so I don't take up too much space here. I went by my name instead of Phampy for some reason lol

4th out of 36. Smash at the Break, Dunellen NJ, 7/28/15

http://8wayrun.challonge.com/thebreak319ssb4

So the rules were changed to customs off this week and i ad expected this to be the worst I've done here in a while but it actually turned out to be the best I've ever done atis local(to be fair though this was the highest seeding as well as the most amount of entry ever here)

I finally completed my long goal of making an upset and defeating an opponent who was stronger than me(OCS Vex), except I don't really feel as if my opponent is necessarily stronger than me anymore, and I think most of the people at the local would say we were about even. The feeling was underwhelming. With the new rules I certainly won't be going to this tournament every week, even though it was a blast.

Darn my trend has been broken! Worst placing so far but I half blame it on being unfamiliar with my new controller. Kept getting inputs and motions I didn't want. Oh well, I'm not too mad about it compared to the stuff that happened at the last tournament lol

7th out of 33 :: Mega Smash Mondays #12 :: Bellflower, CA :: 8/3/15

http://challonge.com/msm12singles

This will be my last tournament for a while I think. Don't really like going out to too many things lol. But for the most part, this was the toughest tournament I was in by far as it had power ranked players from Socal. Lost 1-2 to one of the ranked Metaknights and 1-2 to the Wario that ended up getting 4th. I got wafted so many times even though I had a good lead :[

Also for what it's worth, I got 1st place in their doubles tournament which had really silly rules where you couldn't play your character more than once the whole tournament. My partner and I saved our mains for grand finals when we were up 2-1 thinking we had it and lost LOL. Then we somehow won picking characters we never play.

COMFY & EASY TO WEAR: IX / August 8th, 2015 / Louisville, KY
3rd out of 34 (Customs ON)

http://smashboards.com/threads/comf...-the-huntail-louisville-ky-august-8th.413678/

I used both Peach & PacMan equally.

Lost winners to DtJ Joey (KP Joey).
  • 1st Round Pac vs MiiGunner. He out camped me. I'm not too familiar with this matchup.
  • 2nd Round Pac (with Customs) Vs. Robin. Don't really remember this too much. I think I SD one of my fresh stocks with this one and that inevitably costed me the match.
  • 3rd Round Peach vs ??? (Don't remember). My WORST match of the entire day (even including friendlies). I literally SD two fresh stocks here. No chance coming back after that.
Lost losers to KP Mister Eric (KP Shion aka JDB)
  • 1st & 2nd Round Pac vs Captain Falcon. We play a lot and he knows how to deal around my Pac really well.
  • 3rd Round Peach Vs Captain Falcon. I did MUCH better here. Should've just went Peach from the get go. Got him to 110%+ last stock, but he got the last hit on me sealing the match. Oh well.

Bourbon State Smash: Kerfuffle! / August 15th, 2015 / Louisville, KY
5th out of 67 (Customs OFF)

http://smashboards.com/rankings/bourbon-state-smash-kerfuffle.8031/event

I used both Peach & PacMan equally.

Lost winners to Katakiri.
  • 1st Round Peach vs Metaknight: I. got. absolutely. bodied. Did not take a stock off him at all.
  • 2nd Round Pac Vs. Metaknight. I fared somewhat better, but it was still pretty bad loss on my end. Only took a stock off of him.
Lost losers to Ralph Cecil
  • 1st Round Peach vs Fox. I also got bodied here.
  • 2nd Round Pac Vs Captain Falcon. Got him to last stock, but by then I was like 120%. No way could I have done him in at that point.
Though I got 5th, I most definitely need to work on my neutral game. I didn't think I'd lose to them that badly, but I did.

Placed 13th out of 180+ players at Nebulous Prime 1! I lost to Poyo's Luigi in winners and lost to this really good shiek in losers. Considering the turn out; Nairo, Dabuz, Angel Cortez, False, John Numbers, Ninjalink and other great players, I did pretty good! I'll try my best next week!

I placed 3rd out of over 100 entrants at Nebulous Prime 2. I lost Jash Toon Link in Winners Finals. Then I lost to Zori's Shiek in losers finals. I took sets off of Dill's Shiek and other players to get to Winners Finals. I also had great friendly's with NinjaLink's Greninja and Megaman.

The results thread will be up soon.

I'm just curious. Why did you switch to Villager on Lylat? Is that trampoline glitch still there? I'm entering a tournament this weekend and I want to know if I should avoid that stage. I don't have a Wii U so I can't test it.
It is harder to play with the fruits and the trampoline doesn't work some times and It sucks :/

Does the tilting automatically roll the hydrant or is it not steep enough?
Uhm... what do you mean? The strange point in the middle of lylat? I didn't know that it automatically rolls the hydrant.... video?

If an incline is steep enough a hydrant will automatically tumble without needing to take 13% damage. The only stage that does this in the 3DS version that is tournament legal is Yoshi's Island on the right edge.

Good **** man, I can't wait to see the vids when they are posted.

I'll be there for sure this week. Sucks that you're giving so many people Pacman experience though :D

Nice dude.

Beating both Zee and Dill? And contending with NinjaLink? That's awesome dude!

Considering you had a chance to fight all of them, how do you feel about those matchups?
Villager I feel like it's in our favor but Villager benefits on platform stages like battlefield and town/city.

For Shiek its in her favor. I'm still testing things out. If you can punish the bouncing fish with the key, that's good. Also baiting her bouncing fish as an escape option ( thus getting rid of her jumps ) you can punish the landing with the bell.

played Ninjalink in friendly's last week (both his Greninja and Megaman ) . Greninja I feel like it's even. Even with the patches he is more then viable. It was my first time playing the best Greninja, so I can't give any data on him yet. Just play horizontal, his up air is very strong. Megaman is in our favor slightly. A habit I have is placing the hydrant near him. He back airs me for doing that. Our projectiles beats his and his stationary mobility makes it hard for him to evade the different projectiles flying at different angles.

I'll post more data in a different thread later on in the week.

Agreed on all of the matchups.

For sheik, after witnessing Abadango beat Rain and Shu this weekend, I've come to realize that the hydrant is a pivotal tool in the matchup. Since sheik can't break it easily, it becomes our strongest source of stage control

Fair -> Key is very lethal on her as well since she's a lightweight.

Got 13th out of 98 players at Nebulous yesterday. The last two tournaments I attended I was disappointed so even though I know I could have done better I'm not disappointed with my performance.

https://smash.gg/tournament/nebulous-prime-sma4sh-3-singles/brackets

I lost to a Sonic in winners, I'll post this in the match up thread as well but I got heavily punished because my grabs kept whiffing in the ash grab dead zone. I didn't understand why this happening until after I left the venue. I typically dash grab when I know my opponent wants run towards me and shield. The issue with Sonic is that he runs so fast by the time he stops and shields he is much closer to you than you would have initially estimated. That's an adjustment I'll make for next time. Also his up b spring is great for breaking our pellet recovery.

I lost to Diddy in losers. This tournament is about 4 times larger than the tournies I typically attend and after winning 5 matches in a row losers I think I just had problems settling myself down. There were clearly some parts of the match I didn't have a good game plan. Ah well it's just something I'll have to work on the future.

I'm happy to say though I think I could have won both sets I lost. I really wish I had attended Nebulous last week now, I had an absolute blast!

I played Dill in friendly's and 3-1 him. The hydrant tactic works great against Shiek

Placed 2nd out of 109 players at Nebulous Prime 4! Took out top players like Dill's (Shiek/Luigi), Mr.E ( Marth/Shiek) and John Numbers (Wii Fit Trainer) in Winners Finals. Lost to John Numbers in Grand Finals ( we played all the way to game 10 ).

Had a lot of fun!

Here's the full standings for the tourney.

http://challonge.com/nebulouss_prime_sm4sh_singles/standings

I never popped off so hard till I beat Mr. E's Shiek in Winners Semis.

To bad there was no stream. A lot of epic sets, especially Grand Finals between me and John Numbers.

Congrats. Seems like hydrant is much stronger vs. Sheik than we initially thought. I'll have to try harder in that MU.

Forgot to post this. I placed 9th at Nebulous Prime 5. Lost to Ribbs (Ness) in winners, and NinjaLink (Greninja) in losers. I don't have the link for the bracket.

Placed 5th in teams today and 7th in singles at Nebulous today. Beat IQHQ Fire, Mike Kirby and 2 Stocked Snakee Rosalina. Lost to Mr. E in losers. I need to get better at unfamiliar match ups. I hoped to today showed that Pac-Man vs Rosalina isn't a terrible match up and that Abadango's overly safe playstyle got the best of him at Apex. Wish I got to play Jtails and DKWill in singles. Maybe next time.
