$10 Tournament Prize Pool (20$ per team for Doubles)
Set-ups:
We have 4 T.V's and 3 wiis so setup-ups are needed if you do bring a setup we will give you a voucher to come to a Pownz Smash Night for free. At Smash nights we give out prizes and order in pizza for all our smashers. They start at 7:00pm every Friday and end usually around 11:30pm to 12:00am.

Rules:
-3 Stock
-8 Minute Time Limit
-Items are set to "off" and "none"
-All sets with the exception of winner's finals, loser's finals, and the championship are best of 3 matches, with the aforementioned Finals sets being best 3/5 games.
-In the event of a dispute, controller ports will be selected by Rock-Paper-Scissors
-No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players.
-If the timer runs out, the victor is determined first by stock and then by percentage
-Metaknight's Infinite Cape glitch is banned.
-Standing Infinites are BANNED which include (but not limited to) Dedede's small-step chain grab, Marth on Ness grab-release, etc
-Ice climber infinites are LEGAL up to 250%
-Suicide Move Rules: (all situations are when both players are at 1 stock): If a suicide move ends a match (excluding Bowsers Suicide Klaw), the match will be reset with 1 stock each to both players on the same level. Time limit will be set to 3 minutes. Both players technically died at the same time, and that is why the match was a draw. Play out the one stock, and the winner wins that match.
-Players using a Wii-mote to play must take their batteries out when not playing. We can't be having wii's be interrupted because someone made a mistake. I will be enforcing this heavily, and there will be penalties if people do not obey.
-Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action. You are responsible for knowing your own character, and must be wary about accidentally triggering one of these effects.

Set format (In Order of Procedure):
1. Opponents choose their characters for the first match *
2. Opponents start the stage striking procedure
3. The first game is played, using the stage chosen during step 2
4. The winner of the previous match may announce their Stage Ban selection
5. The loser of the previous match announces the next match's stage from either the Neutral or Counter Stage Lists
6. The winner of the previous match chooses their character
7. The loser of the previous match chooses their character
8. Repeat steps 5-7 for all proceeding matches
*Double blind character selection may be called for the first match

Neutral Stages:
-Battlefield
-Final Destination
-Smashville
-Yoshis Island
-Lylat Cruise

Counterpick Stages
:
-Delfino Plaza
-Frigate Orpheon
-Battleship Halberd
-Rainbow Cruise
-Brinstar
-Pokemon Stadium 1
-Jungle Japes
-Castle Siege

Additional Rules for Doubles Play
:
-Life Stealing is allowed
-Team attack will be set to ON
-In team matches, the ports will be determined in a 1221 fashion; whoever wins the RPS will choose first, then the opposing team will get their ports, and then the teammate of the RPS winner will get the last port.
-Chibo's Color-Blind Rule: If a player on a team is playing Lucario, Sonic, or Pokemon Trainer, either team can request for them to be Blue Team and the opponents must abide. If both teams have one of the characters, they must work it out between them.

Additional Rules for Pools Play:
-Matches will be 3 stock
-7 Minute Time Limit
-Number of Players advancing from each pool will be dependent on number of entrants, number of players per pool, number of pools.

Prizes:
1st place 60%
2nd place 30%
3rd place 10%

General Pownz Rules:

20% is kind of wierd. 60/30/10 if you guys don't mind. Thats standard.

*edit* GUYS PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THIS STIPULATION:

1. Pownz will assign all official tournament matches to specific systems to ensure the smooth pace of the tournament. Any game played during tournament time on a system that has not been assigned to the players will be considered a ‘friendly match’ and be considered a Scratch.
I don't agree with it, BUT, it's their location and that rule stands. Don't be ******** and try to argue about it after the fact.

If anyone from Brampton is going, I'd appreciate a ride to this. I'd be more than willing to bring a full setup and pitch for gas.

If nobody from Brampton is going, can someone from Sauga pick me up from Square One? I'd still bring a Wii & pitch for gas.

If we get more then 50 ppl, pownz should add that money to the pot and then pay out the top 6 :bee:

I need support for this, who else like that idea?
For those who don't know me, my name is RXS and i'm POWNZ new competition master. I over see all the tournaments at POWNZ and make sure things get done right and to satisfy the players. I'm always open to suggestions and want to make things happen for the smash community. As an outsider to Smash I see a lot of potential for this community, and want to work with everyone here to make Smash a huge success.

Now in regards to the pot split....

Well if people want this we can look into it. Currently the extra $100 dollar pot money only applies to the singles tournament. (Pyro failed to mention this however I will look into seeing if we can extend it to the team tournament as well)

However, please remember that say, for instance IF 50 people enter that would be 500 dollars at $10 a head. Plus the $100 Pownz would throw in. Thats $600 dollars total. $600 dollars going 6 ways doesn't equate to a lot of money for the winner, or even the top 3 for working through a grueling 50 man bracket.

Payouts might look like this if we do top 6 pay out and get the minimum requirements for the extra $100 (so $600 dollars).

Payouts
1st - 40% - $240
2nd - 25% - $150
3rd - 15% - $90
4th - 10% - $60
5th - 30% - $30
5th - 30% - $30

Payouts
1st - 60% - $360
2nd - 30% - $180
3rd - 10% - $60

It doens't look too bad, but my opinion is that for the top 3, it really kills some of the hype of winning because now you have to share your spoils with not 3 but 6 other folks who didn't have to work as hard as you did. All the time used for training and practice all to be shared with 5 other folks under you who didn't put nearly as much time, effort and concentration as you did to win your matches.

Wow... ****.

All rivalry and **** aside, I feel for you, and I don't think anyone is going to call johns on that. Hopefully you can make it out, even if it's just to winterfest.

*Edit* You wanna know how epic Pownz is? They have their own bus advertisement.
