Thanks for the info prog! This project has really stepped up!

Just wondering. Sorry for the multiple posts about this, but will there be anymore meetings. If there are, when will it be?

It goes without saying that we'll keep our own, the question is how do we draw in first time viewers?
We had one famous game journalist go to last year's EVO and show what video game tournaments look like by following one player's little adventure and interviewing a couple players and TOs.
Each episode totaled from 30k to 60k views on Youtube (French+English version), and 80k to 160k views on the website (which is huge considering there's only a third as much French speaking people as there are English speaking people all over the world) :

I don't know about the English speaking websites, but if you find somebody who's willing to do the same, that would be great. A similar series about Smash may not be received as well because our game is not known to be played in tournaments in the first place, but EVO and its fundraiser is actually an opportunity to justify this exposure.

I'd like to make music for this, but I have a really specific idea that's going to take a while. When would the due date be for music submission?

Ouch. Okay. My fault for not seeing this thread until 6 months after it started. I'll give it my try-hard ethic and see if I can make it.
If not, no worries!

And this makes a great segue!

So, Bose (Norwegian smasher), started remixing the day after I posted that we needed music.

You guys might remember this snippet:

Of course, he's back with a second project.

Great work.

Provided I make it home at a reasonable hour, I'll be making a live update on tonight's episode of Melee It On Me (I think, otherwise I'll post another video update to my youtube channel). Again, I want to thank everyone that's involved.

No new updates as of yet.

However, I do want to open things up, so to speak.

Some of these videos are designed for youtube.

A majority of them are being designed with streaming in mind. There will be a dropbox for anyone to access to download these events for their own streams.

That being said, tournament organizers, if you want to have your promotional videos hosted on this dropbox as well, so that streamers can promote your events as well, you will have that opportunity. I'll post all of this information soon, but wanted to give you all the heads up.

So, when this project first came to being, we really wanted to hear from everyone as to what they want to see as viewers, players, streamers, commentators, TOs, etc.

We had a lot of that on paper, but always a good idea to double check and not lose sight of the people that this is being done for. That being said:

Leave feedback, questions, comments, concerns, consternation.

A few weeks since the last update. A majority of the updates have been moved to https://twitter.com/UofSmash

but in case you're lazy...I'll bring the news to you.

School is out, so things are getting back into swing.
--DarkDragoon is working on designing the logo. He's a stellar guy with a great guy, and everyone also should congratulate him on his engagement.
--Boback was working on the intro/outro bumpers, but his laptop was stolen. :(
--Musicwise, tracks are being completed/mixed, so that's awesome.
--Toph and Zydin are working on their project, hoping to get something completed soon! Also, Toph's recordings will help out StrongBad with his project (the updated How To Play).
--Armada is still scripting his stuff.
--MattDotZeb/Ripple/CubaIsDeath are working on filler material, will get an update from them eventually.

And the big announcement:
Cactuar is one of the brightest minds in the game's history. So many people who are paragons of skill in the Melee community have been under his wing or discuss strategy with him regularly. Want to know his secrets? Well, he'll be putting together a series of tutorials as well for the channel, complete with a companion thread on the boards.

This is big stuff! Can't wait.

So I personally think that a video should be made talking how to get into the community. I would like to help in that video, if it is decided to be made, or in any other way I can.
PM me if there is anything I can do

I really hope a few of the filler videos can make it in time for EVO but it's looking kinda unlikely going by your recent posts about things. :(

I haven't updated this in a while, so apologies for that. Things have paused with the U of Smash...somewhat. Those that are involved in the project know of major news that will be a much bigger help than a hindrance.
