After watching the trailer (and not having a 360 or PS3) I'm glad this is for PC too!

I'd give a basic rundown, but that's what this short video does and my god it looks amazing. They're not wrong when they say that this is one of the most powerful videogame characters ever. Yowza!

I've seen stronger. I just wish they would've kept it under wraps until they actually had it getting to the end. I remember hearing about this way back when and then it just vanished till they poped it up again with "oh yeah we changed it to make the game more badass." Also my expectations for a game always drops when the producers use the word badass, in any context. Game still looks fun, but it will most likely end up like many of its predacessors, a week or two tops of solid gameplay (that time including in the time spent with the extra errands and trying to squeeze out the achievments you want) In the end, once you hit the top in a game like this, there really is nowhere left to go. I'm definatly playing it, most likely not buying it.

I originally bought the Wii over the Xbox because I liked 3rd person action adventure games while first person shooters tend to make me motion sick.

But this year, Brutal Legend, Divinity II: Ego Draconis, and Prototype are all coming out, all of them for the 360 and not the Wii. What's even more frustrating is that although the later two are also PC games, there is no way I could get my PC to run them without a couple hundred dollars worth of upgrades.

I really, really hate how 3rd parties hate Nintendo.

/endrant.

The biggest problem I see with this game is that it seems to have a strong parisitic focus, much like Halo. The problem with that (for me) is that playing in a dying city doesn't seem very fun. Why would someone want to be a bad*** in a dully-colored (Fallout) or a diusgusting and diseased (this) environment when you can be a bad*** as Link or Mario (or even Jack from Madworld, to an extent) in environments you might actually want to see in person?

Don't get me wrong, I love a dark storyline. I just never understood the appeal of a dark, dreary, and/or depressing world. Could someone explain to me why the Fallout 3 overworld was amazing? It might help me understand and appreciate this game a little more, because it does look awesome except for the Flood elements ripped from Halo.

Although I do admit, I have to see the Brutal Legend environment for myself. Now THAT looks awesome.

MadWorld is basically the same setup. Chaotic city. Most games that come for the Xbox 360 and PS3 don't come to the Wii because of its capabilities. They'd have to dumb it down for the Wii.

There's a few things that distinguish Madworld from Prototype though, namely

1. A very powerful and somewhat clever censor to protect the player from the gore.
2. Varied environments - A normal city, followed by Asia Town with ninjas, followed by
a midevil castle infested with zombies, area 51, and a casino theme to top it all off
.
3. I would actually want to go to Varrigan city, because I have never seen anything like it before. So far, this looks like the somewhat drab GTA4 city, which gets turned into a fleshy, disgusting Flood infestation from Halo.

I recall that one of the compliments given to Nintendo games is that they feature places that people want to go to, the type of places people daydream about. I admit, daydreaming about Ninjas,
Zombies
, freezeflames, and vast green landscapes, is kinda cool
zombies though, maybe not so much
. But I never was quite able to understand daydreaming about the drab, brown post-apocalypse, the typical, grey city, or the parasitic, fleshy infestation. Why would I go to places that are depressing or in some cases, difficult to simply stomach without being disturbed? Could someone explain why they would want to go their, as evidenced by the popularity of Fallout and GTA 4?

This game is compared to inFamous, which sucks because this game's graphics/physics look pretty dated. It looks like Spider-Man: Web of Shadows meets Incredible Hulk.

Ummm.. Coolest story ever?
Sorry, cool story doesn't equal good gameplay.

I guess that's my problem with a lot of these games. I could care less about story, as long as all the gameplay elements are polished, but could care less about a game with a brilliant story if the gameplay has some issues, such as not being fun for me. Storyline explains all the greys and browns though.

Wow. I really need to play Xbox. Those graphics look much better than anything I've seen on the wii.

I guess I'll get InFamous first, but when I have spare money I'll deff by Prototype. I'll sell GTA4 for it if need be.

Actually I made a comparison blog about these two games, idk if you'd care to read it. It's somewhere lost in the user blogs.

Well... yeah. The 360 and PS3 have much higher processors than the Wii. The graphics/physics on this one look... ok.

The thing about people who own the wii and only the wii...

They are very easy to please, graphics wise. In fact, I'm a little surprised more games don't try to push the graphical capabilities of the wii. I'd imagine an average graphic Xbox 360 game, which should be fully portable, textures and all, becuase it is only average, could sell millions of copies being unlike anything any wii owner has ever seen before.

Even Metroid Prime 3 is kinda cartoony, and so far, that is the best technically use of the wii's graphics processor.

I do admit though, that there is something abnormal about Prototype's graphics that make it a much more visually pleasing game than CoD4 or 5. What threatens the fun factor isn't the graphics themselves, but that the game seems extremely disturbing and unsettling to play, with a lot of RE type monsters. Even without the monsters, something about taking out the U.S. military, prior to hearing a detailed in game explanation for why I shouldn't try to sneak by them instead, seems outright unsettling. You need to know that the bad guys are bad guys at heart, or a group of AI's that have no other function than to amuse you. Any other role feels a little off.

Stealing everything in sight is O.K. though, because no one seems to mind.

And that's what I learned from Pokemon.

Well I mean, sometimes people enjoy being frightened or having the living **** freaked out of them. And a depressing game world can be very immersive, done right.

I'm with you though, as someone who plays games for escapism I'll take the Great Sea or Isle Delfino long before I'll explore a horrifying necromunda.

While Prototype is definitely interesting and I could care less about the graphics and physics as long as the game itself is fun, I'm definitely getting InFamous before this. InFamous looks much more interesting storywise and more fun gameplay wise.

Of course, I'll probably end up picking up both.

Lol. Sorry. Unsettling?

That is barely an excuse for not picking up a good game, or rating it lower than it should. Bioshock sure is scary, and "disturbing" at times, but it still is a great video game. Same goes for the RE series.

I think the graphics are the way they are because of the action on the screen. There's dozens of people running, tanks, helicopters and other military trying to fight you and the infected and there's the infected themselves tearing **** up. To get all of that on screen and keep a steady frame rate you'd need pretty good hardware, otherwise something would need to be cut and in this case it's better to cut down on graphics than on enemies, vehicles and such which could affect gameplay. I'm sure as long as the game is ported well [assuming it wasn't made for PC and then ported to consoles] the PC version will be able to sport better visuals provided peopel have the hardware to do so.

I'll be getting this on PC but I'll probably get a controller as well since it looks like one of those games that doesn't game well with a normal mouse and keyboard.

Manhunt.

It is the most extreme game that illustrates my point.

There is a wide spectrum of games between Manhunt and Super Mario Galaxy, and many different levels of revolting. There are a lot of people who cannot have fun playing RE (I would say most), and they shouldn't get a RE game.

To put that into perspective, the closest I've ever gotten to survival horror is the original Halo's Flood stages. I could never enjoy those stages, in spite of them being very well done, genuinely scary, and propose the reality of a parasite that can take over your friends and family and turn them into explosive cucoons. That was my first experience ever with that type of a game. Where do you think a person like me fits on the spectrum?

Well, I finally got my hands on Prototype. I have a lot to write about the game, but I'm waiting until I finish a few more trophies to mark my progress. Here are some points:

- If you rather a slower, less arcade-like game with a great story, go with inFamous. The story in Prototype feels way too much like Puppet Masters and a few other Sci-Fi stories to be considered anything ground breaking or the like. The voice acting is pretty atrocious.

- Action is pretty great in the game, and the city feels really alive. I love how if I am walking, cars will swerve out of my way, and wreck. I also love how you can become ANYONE in the city.

- The side missions are borderline ********. While some missions are really fun and cool, I hate races in 3rd Person games. inFamous did a great job disguising their race as part of the story, so I was able to at least get over it, but there are just missions where you either race along the rooftops (no explanation why) or you glide from a roof to a fountain (no explanation why). Also, the missions are ****ing hard to get gold. There was one mission where you have a minute to kill 120 enemies with your bare hands. This, on its own, is pretty hard, BUT they compound it by adding in these harder enemy types to slow you down. Poorly designed there.

As of now, it's a good rental. There is a lot to do in the game, but the story feels like an afterthought, like "Hey, I have a really cool idea for a game!"

I enjoyed some of the side missions, mainly the War ones. The only ones I really hated were the Consume events with soldiers and infected where you either have to destroy a hive, consume scientists, consume 3-4 officers, break in a base or destroy a base.

I felt the powers could have been better balanced as well. By the end of the game you will probably never ever want to use claws because of how weak and limited in terms of combos they are, and ironfists will only be good for ******* around once you get the blade arm.

I LOVED the consume missions, especially sneaking into the base to consume everyone.

As the missions get further, the game gets boring. The Helicopter sucks as a vehicle because any enemies with rockets will be the end of you.
