Man this is too sick :cool: plus as a piano player I'm really digging that piano solo!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cegdR0GiJl4&ob=av2e Die Antwoord - Enter the Ninja
this guy is wack. I love the beat composition but Die Antwoord has been extremely hyped up for me by many people and I'm kinda underwhelmed. Flow is pretty good but I just don't really like his voice and delivery. His inflection is really annoying. I have the same problem with a lot of non-American hip hop. The chorus/hook is also really annoying. overall an unpleasant experience.

2/5 for the beat

Such a dirty bass line. The speeding up and slowing down of the same riff is something that you find in a lot of QotSA and is generally pretty interesting. I wish it would have ended like 40 seconds earlier though. I wasn't feeling the end

I dig the vocals. There's something really familiar about the melody. I like it, but not crazy about it. Have nothing really bad to say about it, but nothing really stood out for me either.

I think there is a pretty melody hidden somewhere in here, buried under overmastered, glossy production. As it is, I'm not a fan of any of the instrumentation or the sanitized pop singing that overtakes everything else. I think this vocal melody and chord progression would be really good as a slow and mournful ballad instead of something that sounds like an anime intro song.

Of course I have heard of Jethro Tull, but this was the first song I have actually listened to I think.
Really liked the opening instrumentals. It was like a revolutinary war drummer-boy going double time and playing the fiddle at the same time, but then this eerie organ and electric guitar came in, but it didn't seem out of place. I was picturing Link in the lost woods, but like when he is half deluded and chasing skull kid like in the beginning of Majora's mask.

Not crazy about the singers voice as it came in, but I forgot about it as I tried to follow the story.
I guess I was already thinking about Zelda, so images of Epona and Lon Lon RAnch started popping up as he was describing the horse not clearing the jump. The girl actually reminded me of the Zelda, from the animated series, cuz she seemed kind of a *****. Didn't like how the guy gave himself no chance and buried himself under the weight of his lowly class. But I guess there is a lesson in that.

holy **** this thread is so awesome. i came into this subforum to look for a place to post this song and i found just the place! and shout to luigi for regulating on lazy/pretentious reviewers LOL. now back to the review~

I am ashamed of myself that I hadn't heard this album till just about a week ago

during the first minute i was like "ehh.." wasnt really feeling it until it transitions into the next uh, section i guess, of the song. then it reminds me of some 80s **** and its really pleasant. totally stealing your rating scale too, tommy.

:urg::ohwell:[:)]:bee::awesome:

overall, i enjoyed it. i wasn't crazy about it, but i could certainly listen to it again. it gives me a cool visual of like, being out in vegas or something and getting ****ed up in a strip club, lmao.

Well, I actually managed to make it all the way through the song, so it deserves a 2/10 at the very least but I'm not sure I could rate it any higher than that.

Mutiny On The Bounty - Call Me Cheesus!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2EDKwQ2Uc0
really nice intro. once the vocals came in though i was slightly turned off. they sounded really muddy. guitarwork is dope. eventually i came around to the vocals; i enjoyed the chorus.

:urg::ohwell::)[:bee:]:awesome:

this is a band i would definitely be interested in checking their work further. what genre would you put them under?

I like that really simple beat. And the chimes and piano chords in the mix make it a chill backdrop to the oddity of Tyler and Hodgy's lyrics. But like most of OF's stuff, it's a bit more of an acquired taste I guess.

Speaking of Tyler, this girl uses the beat from Yonkers for her own R&B thing

6/10, I like Nero but that track just isn't as catchy as some of their other work.

I can't wait for this album.
DSO is definitely one of my favorite bands. On one half of my musical spectrum, they are by far the biggest influence on me. This song has made me extremely excited for the new album. The new drummer is fantastic (which was my biggest worry), I love the use they're getting out of the horn section. The vocals are amazing, as always.

1/5 for my rating. i quite literally was going to make it 0/5, but the link took me to youtube, so it did some good.

One of my favorite songs by this band! I absolutely adore the horns in this song, and the intro guitar reminds me of Super Mario Sunshine for some reason XD. It's also one of the more fast-paced singalongs I've heard.

My favorite song from this band. That intro is iconic. All the different riffs repeat just the right amount of times. The fills and leads are atmospheric and technical as hell. That vocoder thing before the choruses is brilliant.

I don't like the clean vocals though. I don't like it in any of these djent bands because it sounds the same whether it be Tesseract or Periphery or Ever Forthright. Whenever they start with those clean vocals it really annoys me. Yeah, I'm aware that the same vocalist is in some of those bands (I think) but still! There are other bands that try and ape that style of singing too and it sucks.

but that's such a small part of the song it doesn't really matter

plus, there's an extended instrumental interlude with saxophone and piano and guitar solos. it is beautiful and transitions perfectly into the heavier part.

so yeah, I love this song lol

Nintendo, despite whatever else is up for debate, does absolute work with their game score composers.
1) Nice bobby rhythm, you could tell just from a soundtrack that it would be heard in a quaint, novice little place. And outside. Definitely an outside song.
2) Haha, fun. They're not like, super deep or anything, but I like those lyrics. They don't betray the source material.

reminded me of driving around causing havoc in san andreas. last song you posted by them i said it made me feel like i was in a strip club in vegas. i feel like these guys just make the kind of music that goes well with doing bad things, despite the harmonious, almost blissful sound. a nice clash of emotions there.

:urg::ohwell:[:)]:bee::awesome:

i didn't give it a higher rating simply because its just not what i'm used to listening to. i'm almost sure that if i sat down and listened to their albums, their style would begin growing on me.

I have to admit, it is a lot better than I excepted. The song has a really cool feel to it. What really kills it for me, though, is the vocals (Yes, I know they are necessary). The rapping is something that keeps my attention, and the "OI OI OI" gets drilled into your head.

Overall, 3/5.

I'll give that an 8/10. Like with everything TMV related, this would be a billion times better without the castrato vocals.

Nice groovy keys intro. Feels like prog-reggae to me, lol.

Vocals are okay. I like the spacey funk synth/guitar interludes the most.

3:57 is amazing and beautiful!

overall very cool song. the vocals are boring at worst, but they are serviceable. everything else is awesome.

I am not a huge fan of that style of music but I enjoyed the music. I really enjoyed the lyrics as well.

"The Shelter" The XX (Beat Culture Remix)
Nice start even though I feel like I've heard this beat a trillion times by now.

I'm a sucker for anything with really distant etheral vocals though so I like this so far.

I really like the syncopated beat that starts like a minute in. The song got a lot better all of a sudden. Perfect vocal sampling.

then the swelling static pads when the beat drops away are really nice.

I gotta say, I was expecting something else to happen for the ending, not just going back into that same part as before. Still nice though! I like the bells at the very end.

I really like the beginning of the song! It catches you without being too catchy...like...some songs that that beginning "hook" that is just way too overplayed in the rest of the song.

I like how the direction of the song just changes but yet it keeps the same beat throughout. My favorite part was around 2:44-45. I just love when music just does that.

I am not too knowledgeable in music theory but I really enjoyed listening to this song.

the first section with the beastie boys i wasn't feeling too much. i just didnt like that beat over check it out.

when the sing-songy part starts, i really begin to dig it. its just so happy and i cant help but bob my head to it. pleasant. by the time the beastie boys come back around i'm actually liking it with this beat.

eww, who invited daft punk? in the final section, it just sounds like two songs playing at the same time and it kinda ruins it.

:urg::ohwell:[:)]:bee::awesome:

a song that would work well in a "happy" or "pre-going-out" playlist. it'll get you in a good mood. but the ****ty mixing of the daft punk prevented me from scoring it higher.

Awww don't hat eon Daft Punk! I do agree the Daft Punk parts do seem a bit out of place at times but the beat is the base of the song. I agree, I listen to it before I go to the dance clubs or when I go running. If you like the melodic, sing-songy parts; check out "Starry Sky" by CAPSULE. That is where it's from.

The first part is fairly repetitive but not in a bad way. As you said, the main melody picks up and it became pretty fun to listen to. However, while it was fun to listen to, it didn't fully keep my interest throughout the song. While I blame it for being 6 mins in length, it also lives up the curse that so many techno/rave songs suffer from.

At times, the beat is the same and just repeats. Instead of actually listening to it, you are just chilling to it. Which can be a bad and good thing; depending on what you are looking for. Overall, I enjoyed it after the melody came in but I found my mind wandering throughout the song.

Plus, I was surprised to find this was from "Conker's Bad Fur Day" lol.
