Real people in online tourneys?

I’m still exploring this game’s online tourneys.
After playing them several times, something really stands out… All the other players are using real first names as their screen names. Names like John, Arianna, Evan…. None of these look like nicknames or creative usernames I would expect.
Now I’m wondering if these are even real people or just computer players. (Oy, what’s the point of playing against computer players online?)

Contrary to popular belief, normal people also tend to play video games too.

Not everyone is a hardcore gamer with a gamer tag, sometimes Michael just wants to play as his favorite fairy boy Zelda online.

Well, there’s a huge glaring prevalence of ordinary names that I’m seeing. It’s nothing like in other games I’ve been playing online, like Splatoon 2.

Btw I think players entering online tournaments are usually pretty decent, aren't they? Being myself a low intermediate at best, I often get bodied in the first or 2nd round. I m wondering what is their GSP.
