Reasons for Roy's position on the tier list?

So I understand why Marth is supposed to be better than Roy; but why is Roy considered bad? Most clones are somewhat close to their original on the tier list. Roy is the only clone so far from his original that he isn't even considered viable. What makes Roy so bad?

dont forget the really bad recovery : |
i can't think of a winning matchup for him except maybe one of the low tiers

Lack luster edge guarding
Poor recovery
Easily combo'd
Shut down by several characters

That's the short answer. Explaining why those things are true is the long answer but I don't think that much explanation is needed.
