might as well link u to drephen's vids from this tourney (this was a local columbus thing from last weekend) he pretty much ***** as usual

it was mostly pokefloats i think cuz drew beat him pretty soundly in singles, drephen plays fearless though he just runs in and calls stuff then techchases, i just got to grow some balls against fox i guess

so enjoy the vids, but dont forget to critique my set

well stop throwing out attacks, of course he doesn't run into anything -- even decent players can spot when you're blindly throwing out attacks and bait them out.

stay out of the air unless you're spacing attacks and know what you're doing, sheik is very easy to pick apart when she's above you

to approach just charge needles and walk to him, foxes always sh nair or dash dance camp, you just have to react to it

ya i do just start spamming dumb stuff when i get nervous, gotta work on that, thanks for the tips:)

alot of the time i think i was trying to catch his jump, but he never really did jump, and i just left myself vulnerable

thats actually a real solid approach now that i think about it, if he rushes me, sh back shffl fair, if he dashes away i could full jump needle. as opposed to just getting paranoid and start bairing before he even approaches

i play a very ground heavy sheik in general, rarely going to the air unless it's to shield pressure with sh fair

if the fox is a sh nair happy one I wd back often and ftilt / grab. if they're grab heavy i spot dodge more and empty sh more since most players like to come in for a grab attempt as you land (a lot of players spam aerials while landing). so instead i just empty sh wd back and if they bite they get ftilted or pivot dash attacked or whatever ****.

whenever fox has to cover more distance than sh nair range i charge needles. if they start camping w/ lasers you try to trap them to the corner of the stage to cut their options and go from there -- most foxes will get aggressive with a sh nair when you're near or go into the air

using dsmash is the nuts, but you have to learn when you can use it and get away with it; you can't spam it.

the drephen approach where he runs right at them is also very effective; shield, dash attack, boost grabs, dsmash, and wd back are all options from it.

kind of in the same neighborhood as ....neighborhoodP was saying (pun not intended), your worries about trying to get a fox to run into stuff ironically backfired.

you threw out a lot of attacks for no reason, which, if you're not a falcon, isn't really recoverable. you saw that the fox wasn't being overly aggressive and was only attacking when he had good spacing...and for some reason you chose to fight that patience with impatience :( the mere fact that he forced you to ruin your gameplan instead of adapt your gameplan gave him the win from the start IMO.

there are a couple of ways of how i deal with defensive spacies, which should be considered okay i guess since my teammate and person i play 80% of the time is a defensive spanimal.
1) walk. walking can't be taken for granted. not only is it a mindgame, it allows for more precise and generally more adaptable spacing. there were a few times where you started to run in, he approached, and you had already ran too far to DD, so you did the really slow turn around in dash animation to try to run away instead of shielding, and got punished for it :( running is really only used to take advantage of something, such as edgeguarding or dash attack, and shouldn't be a movement opener, so to speak

2) you roll too much >.>; there's really no reason to roll vs. foxes unless it's away from a smash or shine. better spacing or retreating saved for walking/jumping/WD'ing

3) wow, you played a lot better on corneria than my sheik can...but a couple of just simple mistakes were giving him the wall...and even trying to chainthrow him against it or something...also you wavelanded to forward tilted from the edge like 75% of the time and it became predictable especially during the 30 seconds on the tail where you and juke were both trying to get that 1 kill move off :X

good matches though, hope anythin i said halped at least a little :X

ya, if i was thinking straight instead of frantically trying to kill him i wouldve grabbed and backthrowed him out of that corner instead of repeatedly smacking him into the wall and letting him tech.

im glad this got recorded ive never rewatched a tourney set im learning alot about myself

SO basically i should try walking around more and looking for openings? the cactuar approach?

his usual response to you coming after him was to dash backwards.

if you walk forwards towards him (or dash/wd alternate or wd towards him, basically if you go after him) eventually he runs out of space and has to do something if he continues to use his normal strategy.

then you punish it by outspacing him with your superior range and priority.

when you charged needles game 2 he tended to stand there or laser. if you wanna cut down on his space asap it's really easy to charge needles, cancel the charge, and then dash/wd towards him. there's a bit of lag after his lasering from landing and if they're careless or determined to outcamp you, it's really easy to capitalize on it.

uhhh if you're gonna u-smash tech chase on fox do it earlier than you think you need to.

this fox has a habit of full jump nairs. which imho is terrible against sheik. you gotta punish those especially when he does them on your shield. sh uair oos puts an end to that crap, and it even sets up a nice combo or tech chase. even wd back oos and then grabbing him when he lands would be better than just sitting in shield. if he's going to do silly things and not pillar properly it is advisable to kill him for it.

this and what ara was saying...

Dazwa also shuffles a uair on foxes jumping out of shine or shield. it's really effective, quick, and safe. fox also shouldn't be able to approach with a dair since...ftilt. so the hardest part is definitely spacing against nairs and not being caught in running upsmash/grab, so once a fox fulljumps, he should be *****.

not re-reading, i probably failed at grammar, i apologize *is tired*.
