This thread wasn't necessary. I will be making the guide to doing this tonight in the Texture thread that is already stickied. I can't do it right now because I do not have everything gathered up (seeing as my MAIN computer is having problems). Please wait a few hours.

I'm soooooooo..... gonna add Madworld (wii) and Devil May Cry music to my game when there will be a working PAL version of this code lol:chuckle:

1 thing i'm wondering tho: Will the code cause the music to automatic loop or will it end at some point and there wont be any music for the rest of the match? :/

I don't know for sure, but I think you need to make it loop with a program like goldwave, and them conevert to .brtstm format, and put it in X:\private\Wii\App\RSBE\pf\sound\strm\(Music Number).brstm.

See original post for details.

****, I just thought this was another one of those threads asking if this was possible.

So glad to see PW hacking again, and **** he outdid himself with this one.
Glad I don't have to teach my friends how to ISO hack anymore, because that was such a pain to do. :p

Looking forward to this, and I don't think we can thank PW enough for what he has done here, what he has done in the past, and hopefully what he will do in the future.

There is little to no possibility of a code as simple as the File Replacement Code (I say simple speaking relatively) working for the USB Drive.

SD Replacement codes work on the principle that Brawl already has codes in place that execute from the SD Card. These codes merely hijack the code already in place to look for other files on the SD card.

Swapping from SD Drive to USB Drive in assembly code is not like doing it on a computer. You don't just type D:\ instead of E:\.

this is AMAZING! just curious, is it true that SD cards have life-spans and that they last less when streaming music?

Uhh, hard to say. People say that, but nobody's proved it so I would back up everything before. While PW was debugging and stuff, it never messed up, but, I dunno.

No, Paprika stated in this blog (http://brawlplus.net/news-from-paprika-killer/) that flash memory only wears out from writing to it and not from reading from it.

But he also stated that this entire code was impossible.

Get **** on Paprika

Jokes, i still love you too.

So has anyone actually tested this? Because I am finding that with my own BRSTM as well as known custom BRSTM's that were verified working, are in fact not working and are giving me the same garbage output every time (Loud sequenced beeping).

Go here for a guide on music hacking:

http://kittycorpforum.xtreemhost.com/index.php?topic=9.0

Note that you do NOT need a WiiScrubber, A SSBB IOS, or USB Loader.

MAinly, follow the guide, but don't bother about and WiiScrubbing or DVD burning. Just put the brstm in X:\private\Wii\App\RSBE\pf\sound\strm\(Music Number).brstm

You can use this as a track list.http://westbound.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=vg&action=print&thread=4024

Like to replace FD, you name the file X05.brstm. Then what ever you replaced it with will play instead of FD, even if you play it in Sound Test, my music, etc.

Good Luck!!

And to reply to the above question, PW has worked it. Don't about anyone else though. The code only came out yesterday, give it some time! Also, stages work perfectly. So no more IOS hacking or DVD burning AT ALL!

Wait, wtf?

I'm using the code for the USB loader right now, and it's loading the textures, but not the custom music. What exactly is the problem?

EDIT: NEVERMIND, I FIXED IT AND IT IS GODLY

I was getting something similar. I replaced Brawl+'s file replacement code with this one and I was getting high pitched glitching. Using just the file replacement code, the music worked fine. There's some sort of incompatibility somewhere, I think.

Hey, I have a few questions. How do I get this code to work with the regular Brawl+ code, and does the music loop?

1. Get the text file, delete File Replacement 2.1a, pick File Patch 3.1 and paste it into where 2.1a was. Then put it through the BrawlPlusTweaker (search Smashboards)

2. You need to do the looping with a tool and need to have the looping set up with music editing software, see my guide I JUST made in the stickied topic.

Well, I tried to replace Bein' Friends with Smiles and tears, and while the music played, When I played a match the characters were invisible and the stage was black in a lot of places. I'll try again with that being the only code on.

Update: IT WORKS FINE!!! I was stupid and I caused the blackness. Awesome work Phantom Wings! Only thing is that it's a bit soft. I'll fix by simply making the original WAV louder.

If you use Androu's Brstm maker, it automatically put's loops and such in. I highly recommend it.

I have heard things that it doesn't work with Brawl+, any details?

And yes it works with audacity. Here's a guide to making brstm files with it. http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=240616

Credit for the guide goes to Slashy

Thanks a lot.

I just want to address something though.

LOL at this rumor of this ruining the SD card. This is the trouble with the internet. Someone suggests something (and usually substitutes knowledge with confidence), someone over hears it, tells it to a friend, and it is then solidified as fact.

When you WRITE to an SD card, you initiate a chemical process, which in fact DOES ruin the SD card. However, it takes quite literally well beyond 4000 times for this to actually render the SD card unusable. When you READ from the SD card, what you do to ruin the SD card in comparison to WRITING is insignificant. You can read millions of times without damaging the SD card even slightly.

TLDR; unless this music code writes to the SD card, it won't do any harm to your card.
