Hey, this is Honors.

Place: Alvin Sherman Library at Nova Southeastern University
Time: 1-3 pm
Date: 9/16 (a saturday)
no money earn, just a fun tournament.
Open to anyone 12 and up (you can go now Slynkee :))

Directions and Parking

Address:
Preferably

3301 College Ave
Davie, FL 33314-7721 (for free parking, will need to walk but not far)

If you find or know how to get to the Library it is 1 dollar per hour

You get there by turning on 30th AVE if on University Drive

or by turning at Abe Fishchler AVE (30 st, which is a continuation from 30th AVE at University drive) at College AVE.

Other helpful things:

It is nearby BCC Central Campus and Nova High School

Here are the URL to getting to the university in general

http://www.nova.edu/cwis/campusmaps/maincampus.html

Here is the campus map

The building with the number 7 is the library in the map and the mailman Hollywood building is number 4 on the map. Both are located in the lower half of the map.

http://www.nova.edu/cwis/campusmaps/forms/campusmap.pdf

This is a much more simpler version of the map
The protusion at abe fischler blvd (30 st), at the top portion of the map, that goes into the campus but looks like it went into nowhere is where the library is at

http://www.nova.edu/facilities/shuttle.html

Here is how it looks like: (This is the back of the Library)

Try to be there early

I'm just announcing that there is a free tournament at the university I go to, which is Nova Southeastern University. It is in the Alvin Sherman Library. and it is from 1pm to 3 pm.

This is more of a fun thing because:

The bulletin board doesn't have contact information nor any details on the rules of the tournament.

So if anyone want to go, let me know.

Update: 9/10

Well, I found out that it is hosted by a sector of Library itself, called Teen Corner, of the University. It does have contact phone number so I'll see what I can do on monday in calling them for rules, time schedule, equipment etc.

here is the link if you want to check it out yourself and call personally

Where I found it

And link to their background info if anyone is interested

Here is the phone #

I will contact them personally myself also.

Also to those that are coming, I would like to know who would be able to contribute TVs, Gamecubes, and/or memory cards if the library would allow it for a more efficient tourny just in case if they would allow help.

Update 9/11

I wasn't able to speak to the coordinator of the program, but to the supervisor. She was only able to tell me that the coordinator won't be avialable till wednesday.

Also, she mention that the age is only from 12-18, but she said I could try to speak with the coorinator to work something out, and that they only have two tvs.

To everyone:

If I can't solve these issues, who would be willing to go for a smashfest instead and bringing tvs and GC and maybe have a mini tournament on our own?

We could have it separate at the Flight Deck of the University with the one TV they have, its a big one, not sure if it is a regular or plasma though. Or we could go to the Parker buidling of the Univeristy and hook each GC to the projectors, which would have lag.

We have two GCs, one from my friend and the other, which is university own.

Update 9/12

The coordinator says that people over 18 can come, just need to watch language.

The coordinator also says that it is okay to bring extra GCs TVs memory cards to help the tourny. There are few outlets so we'll need a surge protector.

And she would also would like those bringing the equipment to sign a document saying that it's not their responsibility it something happens with the equipment (just a safety issue, so they won't get sued or anything)

Also, the coordinator says that would could speak to the hosts running the tournament at the tourny to see if they would change the format (tournament brackets from Smash, time, items, etc.).

She also said that it is kept simple was because there was confusion in doing the brackets so that is why they used the tournament bracket in the game. We could try to let them know about the bracket program and a person knowledgeable enough could educate them.

Update 9/14

Go to top for directions, the links should help you.

To everyone:

I will most likely not participate or at least leave early if we do an additional smashfest/tournament after this tourny hosted by the library.

However, the I could escort you all to the location where you all could continue the smashfest or dollar tourny if you decide to do so after the tournament hosted by the library, and help set up.

Thanks to Llama and Advent for helping me with the brackets and organizing the tourny under short notice.

First place of the Library tourny was Triple A or AAA (Samus). A former smashboards member. He came over a little bit with Lime Fury.

The placing of who people faced was done by picking numbers from the towel. For those who have experience in doing brackets, especially double elimination could give me advice for future tournies. Plus you could give me advice for pools too if it is ever needed in the future.

I'll go, but at the last tournament for ssbm, the rules were a little... stupid. The people running it used tournament mode, 2 minute timed matches, items on, any stage, and didnt have any of the secret characters unlocked. Hopefully you guys can run it with real rules?

I see what I can do. The problem is that I don't know who is hosting it. I'll ask around to see. Who is in charge. Do you know if it was the library in charge or if it was a specific person? That would help out. And if you know how many GC and TVs were there to see. We could try bringing our memory cards at least or our GC.

What we could do if I couldn't change anything, we could have a small smashfest just before or after the tourny by bringing our own GC and go to the Flightdeck use the Tv, which is nearby.

There were 2 tvs, but at the last tourney, one had ssbm, the other was mario kart, so I dunno what would happen this time, but those 2 minute item matches were really dumb.

As far as I know, there is no rule against it.:chuckle:

BTW congrats on your win. I believe I faced your G&W in a friendly at DooDah's tourny. Let me know if your coming!

The room that holds the tvs and gamecubes is pretty small. Could probably hold 10-12 people with two tvs comfortably. I don't think any more tvs or cubes would work without a bigger, or seperate room.

I'll see what I can do. I'll put it in the first post to see if people would prefer a smashfest or a dollar tourny. Or do you mean a dollar as an entrance fee and that goes to the pot?

Awwwwwwwwww, well enjoy it Linguini.

I'm actually more for a smashfest, but we could discuss it over there, or vote here before the event if we can't participate to the Library event.

Hmmm, what i don't like (and this is the only thing) about the Dollar tournament idea is that if you're knocked out, there's a chance that you won't be able to play anymore because the two TV's that are there (sry, i can't bring one) will still be in use for the tourney, and there will be no chance for friendlies. (and at my player level, that's a concern, lol)

If this works out, it will be fun. I wanna play Aiyan again, that last amtch was WAY too close...

If i go, I MIGHT be able to bring a GC.

Just wondering, do you guys still want to have the smashfest and/or tourny before/after the free tourny, or just go to the free tourny?
