Roll Dodge Tier list. Under Construction.

Pit's are pretty nice; not sure on the frame data though. Lucario's is obviously indisputably Top Tier.

Criteria should be...

- Start-up
- Invincibility frames
- Cooldown frames
- Distance/speed to get to that distance

Glide Tossing should not be factored in, as there is no direct link between rolling ability and glide tossing.

Gaw's roll is slow and eaily telepgraphed, so it's easy to punish. Gaw's roll sucks.
Did you really not get the gist of my post? It was to show how the best and "worst" stack up framewise. It's really not any slower, the main difference is that it's shorter. He goes a shorter distance with those frames, while Lucario has similar data on his roll, just that he goes farther.

This is a very dumb list. No criteria, and very little effort put into the original post.
The main reason this is useless is because everyone should know a characters defensive options if they have played around a bit. Everyone knows Lucario's is a beast roll, and G&W's distance is terrible, so why make a list for something everyone should know about from simple play? At least the recovery tier list has some merit from the discussion generated in it.

Though, if you really want to do this, you can make it into a Defensive Options thread. List a characters defensive options (Roll, Spotdodge, Airdodge, and some things like G&W's upB) so people can compare that. But people should know their own character's defensive junk, even without frame data.

Zelda's rolls are actually pretty good. Ironically they seem much better than her counterpart, sheik's.

diddy has pretty good rolls, i'd say mid/high at least, he's pretty quick and his roll goes fairly far.

Zelda's airdodge does go on for quite a bit of time...

I was under the impression R.O.B. has the worst roll? I've been told by a few R.O.B. mains that they don't even bother with it.

u guys gota take in mind that what makes a roll good. the invince frames, the speed or is it used to side step a bit or aactually do a barrel roll

I will give you what I know.

Ike's roll dodge is about average. It takes a while to start up, but has a long duration of invincibility frames, and an alright range. He should be mid tier.

Falco's roll dodge rocks. Minimal startup time, good distance, and good invincibility frames. High tier.

Lucas' roll is not bad, but it is quite short. He would be a Mid-Low tier.

Kirby's roll is good. Short, but gives a LOT of invincibility frames. Mid-Upper Tier.

Surprisingly, Ganondorf's roll is ok, it has a great range, but is just a bit too slow (lol @ Sonic taunt) He is a mid tier roll dodger.

Dedede's roll is very impressive, it has great range, and what it lacks in speed, it makes up for in invincibility frames. High tier, up with Falco.

Lucario's roll is average. Average speed, range, and time invincible. Mid tier, not top, wow.

DK's roll is average. It has good range and invincibility frames, but is quite slow.

MK has above average with speed. Wow.

My signature justifies my expertise. Go with it, or not.

I updated the list. Give your opinions on the new list, as long as you play the character. Good data to give is:

Long roll
Alot of invincibility frames
Speed of the Roll
Is the Roll Glide tossable?
Roll with a fast start up time to invincibility.

If you look at Marth's frame data and distance for his rolls they are actually ok. Not abusable or anything, but not horrendous.

Average.

Mid tier IMO.

Now his airdodge is crap. lmao.

LOL. Kirby's is NOT better than Lucario's. That said...none are better than Lucario's. And I'm not just saying that because I main him, I'm saying that because it's f*cking true.

The boards really need to cut back on useless threads.

Exactly how is this constructive for the community in any which way? Wouldn't it be better to just construct frame data for every characters rolls? That's information we can actually use, and wouldn't be arbitrary.

sheik's spotdodge is bad, but her rolls are only meh.

it's ironic that a ninja like charter has some of the worst evasive maneuvers in the game.

Zelda, on the other hand, is quite good at dodging in all forms.

Link should be top tier. Who else rolls over entire lands just to get across (besides that hedgehog)? But like everyone else in brawl, Sakurai doesn't stay true to the character. :laugh:
