Due to extremely numerous and annoying requests, I present you with a separate thread to post your videos and analyze each others' playstyles. This thread is concurrent with the Celestial Archives, meaning any and all separate video links from what you intend to submit will be posted here. You're also allowed to link videos you've already submitted to the Archives. Just keep your critiques concise and to the point when addressing someone's playstyle.

I should be getting a video up here soon. I'm curious what everyone thinks (I play a lot like quiksilver from the moveset discussion thread).

The rules about where to submit your videos were not specific as to if they should be posted here or PMed to Serris, so I am going to be the guinea pig here. Here is one of my crappy matches I had when I was at the tourney, and you guys can tell me how badly I did. I reviewed this one like 20 times, so I hope I got more out of it than what you guys will tell me.

Expect to see more of my videos here. I've got one against ChuckNasty, a MK main, one against X_A, Rob, and one against a Falco, who I could be mistaken is BOBO? Don't know. I just uploaded these onto Youtube, so you may see them here soon.

hmmm well what stood out most to was your CS your use them at very predictable times, and not enough missiles for set ups. but over all i dont know the match up but i know for the most part if they dont have a reflector spam projectiles.

These ones are against ChuckNasty's MK. As you'll probably be able to tell from the videos, I fall for a few things, like his weak grabs -> fair -> upb -> death. So before this I had very little experience vs MKs. I know quite a bit more than I had known before, but any help in this matchup would be much appreciated.

This one is against a Falco player, I think more than anything the Falco would need help in this MU. He wasn't bad though, I just know Falco well enough to get around him I guess.

This one is against X_A, the TO of OKGamers events. Not a bad Rob, there are a few things he could work on though.

Hey Raigoth, nice vids, I like your style. The MK matchup is really hard, and ChuckNasty is clearly no pushover. I made a video response to both those matches with annotations giving my critique. Alot of the mistakes I recognize from stuff that I do wrong all the time, but just can't break my habit to correct. Hopefully you'll have an easier time adjusting!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_CM4OC7fZY

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbfLT316j_U

The most common mistakes I noticed:
1)You're recovery is a bit predictable, and sets you up to be gimped. Samus is pretty heavy, so if you can avoid those early gimps, you'll do much better.
2)Bad DI upon getting grabbed.
3)Letting MK run underneath you while you try to shoot a projectile thats too high.

Anyway, keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing more of your tourney matches.

(sorry for the double post, but no one has posted here in a while)

Can I get some criticism on these two vids? We've been doing a lot of olimar discussion so lets see what kind of improvements I can make. These are two matches from a bunch of friendlies I had a couple weeks ago:

Muz (samus) vs Coco (olimar)

1)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xDtSpwKJyQ&layer_token=c014d6a36689e16a

2)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGxkU95e9qw&layer_token=acef6fe9b043d39

You should be able to add annotations directly to these vids on YouTube, so go ahead and be critical! Make sure to post here afterwards so I know to check for new annotations there.

Thanks :)

Eh... I honestly don't have time to do all the annotations or write up a critique.

Muz, my AIM is buildav. Also, get a skype account. Whenever we're both available (we can set that up on AIM), we'll go over your vids via chat. I'll be available anytime tonight to do it. Not sure about tomorrow yet.

This offer isn't exclusive to Muz either. Just hit me up on AIM and I can discuss your vids via skype. But still, be sure to post your videos here for other people to critique. People learn just as much from watching Samus players perform well as watching Samus players make mistakes.

I deleted AIM a while ago because it took to much of my time chatting when I should have been doing more productive stuff, and I don't plan on installing it again because I'll probably waste alot of time there again. But thanks for the offer, I appreciate it :)
You can also post some comments here, even something general like:

"You dash attack his shield way too much"
or
"You don't get pikmin off of you fast enough"

would give me an idea as to what I need to work on.

We did play PLENTY more matches, but my friend's Wii can't get replays to work properly, so he had to send the ones that did work to me. We are currently EVEN in the amount of matches we've won and lost.

I will be getting some matches of the best Link in UK on here aswell.

I left a comment on video 3, I'll talk more later.

But it's interesting, that snake was very unagressive, which was his downfall. If he's getting in Samus' face with DACUS, neutral a and tilts, it's MUCH harder for samus. At least the snakes here in the west play that way.

I guess that's why you played the ledge. VERY smart. But some snakes will also rush the ledge and bair you, so be wary of that as well.

Yeah as you may have seen in the other videos, he did attempt the bair rush, I avoided it with ease and proceeded to spike xD.

Thanks for the advice on video 3 <3

I have to agree with LanceStern's comments, that snake had to play a lot more aggressive. Plus he fell for the zair way to much. You did well to spam it against him since he had such a tough time getting around it, but a better snake will get through it very quickly, using the dacus, rolling, or even just crawling towards you.

I would suggest mixing in more missles with your zairs to throw off their dodging rhythm. But other than that you have a very fluid samus, you kept the pressure on, and you spaced very well. Keep it up!

Oh I forgot to mention, you have a very interesting style as you don't walk or run much on the ground, but use aerial mobility well to get around, very interesting to watch.

People have just recently began to pick up on this, I love Samus in the air, shes an absolute monster, I cannot deny it. As bad as Samus is, I can't knock her air game.

Also Lance, I'll give you a critique when I get some sleep, it's 5:15am over here, im exhausted.

Okay lance, I completely forgot about your critiques man im so sorry. <3?

Okay here we go Match 1:

Your use of zair is impressive, you retreat with it well, but against a Sonic, your asking to get rushed, keep up your aggressive zairs but don't be to obvious with them since with Sonic's speed he can get in and punish you. Retreat if your feeling a bit pressured, try going to the edge a bit more, Sonic can't do much to us there if you need some time to plan your next move.

When going for the spike, try not to be so predictable with it, Im not even in the match and I could tell when you was going to spike, and im pretty sure your opponent did aswell. I'd suggest sticking to standard gimps on Sonic, since he has a really predictable vertical recovery. Punish him when he's coming back to the stage with zairs and missles.

When Sonic is at a high percentage, just try and bait some attacks from him. Sonic will become REALLY cautious when this happens, and when your using fsmash like its a god send, he will begin to catch on, try to pressure his shield, Sonic is more then likely to go into his shield, so look out for it.

Stop standing grabs. Seriously. The amount of times that Sonic could have punished with an fsmash were just unbelivable. Try a few more pivots, especially when Sonic rushes you with his side b.

I LOVE YOUR RUSHING TECHNIQUES. Your ground game is beautiful. Seriously. The pressure you applied was perfect for racking up the damage.

So to summarise:

Be more aggressive with zair
Less predictable kill moves
Stop stand grabs.

Overall, well played.

Match 2:

You can grab banana's with airdodge xD. Try mixing it up when your holding a banana. I find dropped banana > reverse CS is literally guaranteed, Diddy's just don't expect that.

If Diddy is pressuring you towards the edge, don't give in and roll away, your asking to get dsmashed, and that move hits pretty hard. Just spotdodge to upb, we can UpB all of his moves out of a spotdodge or OoS, I myself prefer spotdodging since when your shield is up, it's obvious your going to UpB OoS a move.

Before I say anything else, Im going to say that I know this MU like the back of my hand, and no offense, but you played it pretty badly, but that's understandable, you don't know the MU. To defeat any Diddy, STAY ON THE LEDGE. Im telling you now. Get a NICE lead, and stall on the ledge with zairs and missles. Diddy can't handle these well your so low down and he will be forced to come to you on the edge. All he can really do is:

Attempt to spike
FFed aerial
Banana Drop

None of these, with the correct spacing on the ledge, should be of ANY threat to you. Look at Xyro's ledge game thread for tips on this, because when you apply this, the horror of glide tossing bananas into a semi lock, the annoying tilts/smashes will all be a thing of the past. Diddy cannot take us properly on the ledge. I have defeated the best Diddy over here PURELY because of this, I stalled the 8 minute timer out twice and it nabbed me the wins.

Apply that for match 3 aswell. Take a Diddy to BF. Its EASY to tech the ledges incase he hits you with a drop down move.

I'll do the seriousness matches later on, sleep time, I won't forget to do them <3.

Bahamut, if your still looking for a critique...

I noticed that you love to do Samus' standard AA jab combo. Whilst this is effective on characters who can get out of the combo with a speedy move, Ganon lacks one of these, or at least, an effective one at that. His only option is to powershield a jab cancelled d/ftilt, and even then, if you have been mixing up your cancels with the standard combo, it should not worry you to much.

Remember that you are playing on NORFAIR. One of Samus' BETTER stages. You don't need to approach Ganon, he HAS to approach you regardless whether he wants to or not.

Stop using dair. Seriously. It's really not an amazing move. Offstage, sure, if you have been mixing up your offstage game with missles/zair/nair/fair/uair/insert other move then he may not see it coming. Space your zairs more wisely, just throwing them out there will get you punished by a Ganon who knows how to space.

Never usmash. Nuff' said.

FF'ed uair to literally anything is always good, I personally recommend UpB since it is ALOT harder to punish here then anywhere else. UpB OoS any of Ganon's attacks on your shield aswell.

Overall there is work to be done, but read a few more guides on Samus and you'll see progress.

I shall be adding some videos here later on this week, watch out for them <3.

Thanks KillerJawz. I'll try to work on what you said. I've read the pinned guide here in the boards and will try to get some friendlies uploaded this week.

BTW, I would like to know if Morph Bomb is a good move or not. It's really a doubt for me.

It's no problem, glad I could be of assistance.

Morph ball bombs are terrible in terms of doing anything to the opponent, but for recovery/stalling they are superb. They are also pretty good for knocking somebody off a ledge. For example, when you lay a bomb next to a person standing next to an edge whilst they are not shielding, they will be pushed off, and if you have spaced correctly, you can spike them. This is situational however, and will not be any use in a real match, it's always an option however.

Please do post those friendlies here if you want a critique, I'll give you one a lot sooner then this. I just kind of forgot this thread existed for a little while.

NO. It DOES have potential.

The kid is smart. He just needs to work on situational recognition and tweak his camp game and he's set. And I'll teach him some gimmicks he could have used during the match that would have scared his opponent ****less.

But it'd be rude to critique him unless he asks for it. It's really interesting to see that style of gameplay develop. So post it here! xD

Also, if you want me to critique a vid (not directed to anyone, just in general) please only post one. I usually do a very in-depth analysis which takes a lot of time. Besides, you should be learning something new after every match; attempting to gather critique from multiple matches divides the mental resources you should be devoting to learning/fixing a new/bad habit.
