For the record, that's called a warstory.

Hey, you know on Route 214? That one chick that used a Wormadam (Grass Cloak)? Well, that Wormadam p!ssed me off one time.

It was after the Elite 4, and I had forgot to fight her. So, I ran past her and was challenged. I was like, "Fine, I'll KO that bug with mah Swellow's Aerial Ace". The Swellow was supposed to be the Burn Orb variety, but I decided to keep the Naive Swellow I happened to catch in the wild. I didn't EV train it, though. Well... I trained against Bibarel and Staravia, but didn't keep track. Anyways, because of the battles before, my Swellow was burned and had somewhere around 26% health left. Swellow was level 50, and Wormadam was level 25. Guess what happened?

Wormadam used Protect!
Wormadam protected istelf!
Swellow used Aerial Ace!
Wormadam protected itself.
Swellow recieved damage from it's burn! (~14% left)

I was so p!ssed off. So I sent out my level 50, Dragon Dance Salamence. This one was EV trained, but I didn't bother to breed for good IVs. Hey, it was quick tempered, so it must've had a good Attack IV. Anyways...

Remember guys. I may know a lot about Pokemon in general, but I've been in next to no battles. This means my overall prediction skills are quite weak. The thing is, I think I can do something, but end up messing up and letting the opponent set-up.

To recap, if any of you want an easy win, or are feeling depressed from a boatload of losses, look no further. >_>

I need to believe in Stallrein more. In recent battles, it's always the last one to be sent in. I keep thinking it will take a severe amount of damage when it switches in, which means it wouldn't be able to stall. I have to remember these things:

1) I have Protect. I use it and...

2) I have Leftovers and Ice Body. This means I will heal 12% health each turn. That is roughly half of Substitute's HP reduction. Look at this:

Walrein Protects.
Opponent can't attack.
Opponent hurt by hail (and possibly toxic)

Opponent attacks.
Walrein Subs.
Residual damage for opponent.
Heal for Walrein.

Walrein Protects.
Opponent can't attack.
Residual damage.
Healy.

From there, if I predict the for will break the sub, I use sub (if they're slower). If not, I attack or Roar.

All this time of healing my damage from the sub and damage, the opponent is hit for 18% damage from hail and 6/16 damage from toxic (i think)

3) Walrein is bulky. 110 / 90 / 90 exceeds Swampert, which can take quite a beating, and I also heal 6 more % than he does. The HP EVs generally help my defenses and is some sort of "magic number" for Leftovers/Ice Body recovery or something.

Hey M4F, how come on like turn 21 the skarmory's Whirlwind went first? I thought Roar and Whirlwind always went 2nd in battle.

they are definitely a lot easier to make than a damaging team

also, SS teams are much easier to make than Hail teams, due to the fact that 3 types (and cacnea and cacturne) don't take SS damage while only Ice types don't take Hail damage

Not all Pokemon on a Hail team need to be Ice types. The 6% from Hail will pretty much only be a problem for your non-immune walls. Fragile sweepers generally don't care about the 6%, but sweepers that can take a hit like Garchomp and Gyarados may not like the residual damage.
