Just noticed JB is taking pre-orders for it.

Got me wondering if it's going to be any good. What are people's opinions? I know it's early but I'm bored and was watching the trailer.

I think it looks really good personally. I just hope it doesn't turn out like twilight princess did.

Step 1: USE ITEM TO GET TO NEXT DUNGEON
Step 2: DISCOVER NEWER ITEM
Step 3: USE NEW ITEM TO BEAT BOSS.
Step 4: REPEAT STEP 1-3.

I also hope it doesn't just become a gimmicky wii game that makes me do stupid **** with the controller everywhere that it's possible.

But other zelda games before it at least utilised your existing stock of items.

in twilight princess I found alot of items I only used once, or VERY RARELY outside of the dungeon.

The best example was that stupid spintop thing lol.

It's Zelda, of course I'm looking forward to it and tbqh will automatically like it.

That said, I am somewhat apprehensive about all the motion **** they say they're doing, hopefully that won't be too gimmicky. And a return to the original LOZ-style open-endedness would be fantastic. I'm fairly hopeful on that front purely because of how picky they were to make sure every single person ever knows they are "changing the formula", whatever that means.

inb4 it's the same formula as before except for one tiny trivial thing.

i liked twilight princess, it was easy but it still felt creative

and you do use that spin top thing outside of the dungeon you obtain it in so idk what you're on about.

Yeah, you use it about one time outside of there lol.

I don't want a new formula, the classic zelda formula was already so good.

I just had a problem with TP, it felt like a regurgitated OoT to me, graphics-wise and story wise. I have high hopes for this one because it looks somewhat original. I can understand why they had that approach though, after so many casual zelda players whined about "OMG WINDWAKER IS SO KIDDY".

But yeah I'm a bit the same about the motion stuff. Games on the wii are becoming more about shaking the **** out of your controller than actually beating the challenge of the game.

Miyamoto has already said that he wants to try and move away from the original Zelda, enter dungoen > Slay boss concept. So fingers crossed for something pimp.

link's new task is to kidnap zelda, ride around hyrule and hijack people's horses and **** and do underground missions, and if you commit enough crimes throughout the city the hyrule police start chasing you.

Sounds original right.

New Zelda Game

Hope storyline is involving.
Hope controls are smooth.
Hope difficulty level is consistant.
Hope any new characters are memorable.
Hope there are some memorable puzzles too.
Hope landscapes are pretty/epic.

Other than that Nintendo can **** with the game and the formula as much as they want, its still gonna be an Puzzler/action RPG kinda shennanigan with items and bosses and stuff...

inb4 its an FPS

Maybe it means ther will b less dungeon elements? like more open gameplay elements aka the 1st halfish of wind waker wer u just went around discovering ****. Its unanimously agreed the worst part of WW was the final 2 dungeons. It's lucky TP was so much like OoT otherwise it would have been much more poorly received.

What Luke said about the spinning top, it was fun to use cause it was ****. Just use it in the middle of a battle for the lols. I just hope that the game is hard enough that you don't have to try to die.

With nearly all the items in TP, you can use them at points and they are more effective than the usual Bow n Arrow/Sword combo.

Spinner great for going down slopes fast if you cancel it right and for killing small enemies like heaps of rats.

A few other things too.

Of course shiz like the Wrecking Ball, lol, what junk.

I don't mean to sound negative all the time in regards to games (and specifically, Nintendo) but I have the feeling the sword play won't be 1/1 despite what Nintendo say and it'll just end up being another waggle fest.

In the last 3 years or so, a lot of games have been using this handy thing :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsFswQ7W81c I wouldn't be surprised if this game does too.

In recent years I've completely lost faith in Nintendo, I used to love them. Games have changed, they're about making the most money possible, there are very few games these days that are made from the heart.

EDIT: I really wanna see gamecube controller support Nintendo! Don't make me have to download a homebrew code like I had to for Donkey Kong Country Returns!!!

if they make it properly then gamecube controller support would be impossible

Ric, have you not seen ANY of the demos/info regarding SS at all? The sword control will be 1:1.

GC support would be sweet, but I'm doubtful.

The only actual footage I've seen where I can what the player is doing while also being able to see whats happening on screen, is the E3 demo... and I think we all know how that turned out... Jokes aside, it was obvious there was some major interference, but its not actually possible (afaik anyway, I don't mind being proven wrong about this) to have complete 1:1 with the Wii, even with motion plus.

Could you explain a little more why?

Ric, your large font man..It annoys me lol.
The little bear saw Alzi's font size and it was too small. The little bear saw Richard's font size and it was too big. The little bear saw default font size and it was juuust right.

why would you use the beyblade as your example when the gale boomerang literally has like two non-speedrun forced uses after the first dungeon, one to get to the grove and one in a flashback battle >_>

beyblade was used in the
temple of time a bunch
, plus that **** owns spiders

Tbh I don't even remember most of the items from TP lol, nor the maps or the people or the dungeons. I remember mostly everything from every other Zelda, or atleast have some fond memories of them, even the gameboy ones.

Oh yeah Temple of Time exists. I keep forgetting >>; Such a ******** dungeon.

THAT ****ING MAGIC STICK!...It's like...Use in dungeon, use for next part of story, use in vein of it doing something, alas it does not.

Plus the Temple of Time can be skipped in speed runs so who cares.

Oh and the Gale boomerang is used to put out the horse carriage when your escorting it, and is used outside hyrule castle.

Only things that triggered certain things (as in you could only use them at all in certain places, like the magic stick) and the Wrecking ball were like completely useless out of their element. In terms of speed and accessing areas anyway. . . afaik haha

Its worth noting I played TP on Gamecube. It had my favourite swordplay out of the Zelda games coz i liked the sequences where you get taught new sword tricks and I enjoyed applying them and they were all useful.

I hope the Wii controls are minimal.
GC support would be good. I could easily find this game unplayable.

The only game where shaking the Wiimote has sat well with me is DKCR.
That intense moment where the ground is flat and all you need to do is shake wiimote/chuk consistantly to roll and then time a jump to get Shiny Gold... oh so good :3

but yeah swordplay better be topssss

as i said
if they make it properly
the motion control simply won't replace a button input and will be essential in playing the game

Well a lot of the enemies shown in trailers and such so far require particular strokes with the remote. Something the control stick and buttons can't really replace, but something I've seen on so many enemies in this game that its starting to look more like a dull chore, and a stupid gimmick that hampers the pace of the action.

it could be applied with a control and buttons by setting aside 1 button that changes the control stick from movement to the direction the sword will swing. but that would make it incredibly annoying.

dude did you miss like the ****load of other demonstrations since then, not to mention vids of people playing the demo and all the other wii games with 1:1 via motionplus (wii sports resort, etc)? it is possible, and it's happening. look around you.

didnt think to respond to this before but, you can do it with the current control standards, just have it so that you can change the direction of the stick during the startup of the swing and that will change the swing direction. they do it like this in some of the star wars games for lightsaber swings, it works fne and is totally natural.

So miyamoto threatened that if the next zelda or starfox games weren't the best in the series yet he was ending the franchises.

Pretty strong move there... and come on... BEST in the series?

I'd be happy if either of them came anywhere near their predecessors, based on how good they were (except TP, I wasn't a fan...).
