I hope we find out whether we need 8 or 12 tracks soon.
If I look for 12 songs and we only need 8 I might have a hard time deciding what ones to cut, on the other hand I might be thrown off if I have 8 and we need 12.

This is my problem as well.

I have a solution; Just find all the songs you want for an 8-song list, and THEN you look for the four next best to put in a 12-song list. That's how i'm gonna do mine, anyway.

Maybe this is blind hope, but I would love it to be Teomo City. If Sakurai hasn't won the ultimate fanservice award already, this would seal the deal.
Why would you remind me :( the wounds haven't healed quite as much as I thought.

Assuming we stick to the classic series for stages, however, I would love the Robot Museum. If we get one from a different series, tho, then the Gesselschaft from Legends would be amazing.

Well, I had a fine vacation... but I'm glad to be back. Looks like I did a little better than last time with Rainbow Road... But Wily Castle? Sons, my body is ready!

Wanted to make sure. :p So, 10 songs from the entire Mega Man series... should be fun!

Starting without Swampasaur? I guess that's fair since he's been gone for over a week.

Do your best everyone. As a diehard Mega Man fan you can expect me to be the Simon Cowell Dr. Wily of this round. :troll:

Uh, by the way... what are the confirmed tracks for the stage? We've got the Title Screen / Dr. Wily's Castle medley and Spark Man... am I missing anything?

In the Developer Direct there was also the original version of Wily's Castle. Not sure how any of this counts towards your song count though.

LET'S DO THIS!
I don't have the best knowledge for Mega Man music, but I might as well give it a shot!

1. Opening Stage, Title Intro, Wily Castle 2 Medley: Confirmed to be a whole medley for a single track.
2. Spark Man's Theme (Mega Man 3): Confirmed.
3. Cut Man's Theme (Mega Man 1): This is probably the first Mega Man Robot Master theme that you will ever hear if you started out with Mega Man 1. It's iconic.
4. Galaxy Man (Mega Man 9): One of the more popular tracks from Mega Man 9.
5. Elec Man's Theme (Mega Man 1): Another popular track from Mega Man 1. It's a pretty catchy tune that fits in with the stage.
6. Mr. X Stage 1 (Mega Man 6): This is a popular theme from MM6 when you infiltrate totally-not-Dr.-Wily's fortress.
7. Skull Man's Theme (Mega Man 4): A darker sounding theme that oddly fits in with Wily Castle in my eyes.
8. Solar Man's Theme (Mega Man 10): One of the more popular tracks from Mega Man 10.
9. Title Theme (Mega Man 3): Another popular title theme. Easily one of the more recognizable themes from Mega Man.
10. Frost Man's Theme (Mega Man 8): One of the most popular Mega Man 8 tracks. Hey, if Halberd can have Frozen Hillside be a song, then I find this to be justifiable.

I tried to diversify my list as much as I can without having to overload my list of using songs from Mega Man 1-3. I had trouble squeezing in a song from Mega Man 7. Also, my list is strictly classic Mega Man tunes since we are dealing with Classic Mega Man here.

And with that...
*teleports away*

It sucks that I never played Mega Man as a kid; it's hard to fine one last good song. :urg:

Huh wow I haven't check on this in a while.

I should probably throw a list together, for this round at least.

Got my list together! Glad this round has more variety to choose from than Rainbow Road did. :p

Name: Cut Man
Universe: Mega Man
Game It's Originally From: Mega Man (1988)
Link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUb0d8T2A7Y
Reason: A fairly memorable tune from the original Mega Man. Cut Man himself has also appeared numerous times in the series, such as a bonus boss in Mega Man 8.

Name: Title Screen / Dr. Wily’s Castle
Universe: Mega Man
Game It's Originally From: Mega Man 2 (1989)
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOQhuuG1rfs (title screen), https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJRoRt155mA (Dr. Wily’s Castle).

Name: Spark Man
Universe: Mega Man
Game It's Originally From: Mega Man 3 (1990)
Link:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZ2JxpBeeIc

Name: Pharaoh Man
Universe: Mega Man
Game It's Originally From: Mega Man 4 (1992)
Link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T11JGxCxFPY
Reason: Pharaoh Man’s theme sounds the most suiting for a fighting game from Mega Man 4’s soundtrack.

Name: Charge Man
Universe: Mega Man
Game It's Originally From: Mega Man 5 (1992)
Link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzEcd14fWFg
Reason: Just because Wily’s Castle is ominous doesn’t mean we can’t have a bright and optimistic song. Charge Man’s theme would also be great for training mode. (Ha, ha…)

Name: Tomahawk Man
Universe: Mega Man
Game It's Originally From: Mega Man 6 (1994)
Link:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8gzLfs3d60
Reason: Like Pharaoh Man’s theme, I feel this tune would suit best out of Mega Man 6’s songs.

Name: Zero’s Theme
Universe: Mega Man
Game It's Originally From: Mega Man X2 (1995), remixed for Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
Link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kp3m3xS6qDA
Reason: Zero is Dr. Wily’s greatest creation, so why not have his theme play at Wily Castle? Plus, this theme was used when X and Zero clashed, so it’s super fitting for climatic one-on-one battles.

Name: Opening Theme
Universe: Mega Man
Game It's Originally From: Mega Man 8 (1997)
Link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wh5coxa-avg
Reason: This tune, the English theme for 8, is just pure 90’s bliss. Having an instrumental song would also be closer to the 8bit Mega Man games, too.

Name: Flutter vs. the Gesellschaft
Universe: Mega Man
Game It’s Originally From: Mega Man Legends (1997)
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9v07PY14Zyw
Reason: This song served as a theme song for both Mega Man Volnutt and Tron Bonne in other games, so it’s fair to say this song represents the Legends series. Volnutt himself appears in Smash, too!

Name: Wily Stage 1
Universe: Mega Man
Game It’s Originally From: Mega Man 10 (2010)
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H01E8MuKx6M
Reason: One of Wily’s themes from the most recent game.

I'd say it doesn't.
Cool.
[collapse="List"]
1. MM2 Medley (Stage start, Title Screen, Wily 1/2) (Confirmed)
2. Spark Man's Stage (Mega Man 3) (Confirmed)
3. Cut Man's Stage (Mega Man) - Some of you may be shocked that I didn't use Elec Man's theme, but I think Cut Man's theme is more iconic. Plus I don't like Elec Man's theme very much TBH.
4. Pharaoh Man's Stage (Mega Man 4)
5. Dark Man Stage (Mega Man 5)
6. Ruined Street (Mega Man 7)
7. Bass's Theme (Mega Man 8) - Was waffling on whether to include this or Proto Man's theme. Went with this one because it seems more suited to a fighting game.
8. Tornado Man's Stage (Mega Man 9) - Going with this one because it was what was used in the MM9 Trailer IIRC
9. Mega Man Killers Medley - Heart of Enker, Get the Punk Out, and Farewell to Ballade (MM10/ MM:WR, MMIII, MMIV)
10. Central Highway (Mega Man X) -gotta get some not MM Classic Music. Plus, the aesthetics of the Wily's Castle remind me of the Central Highway Stage quite a bit.[/collapse]
With explanations for some of the songs.

Time to rock on and roll out.

[collapse="TJ-Works' Wily Castle Tracklist"]

1. MM2 Medley (Opening Stage -> Title Theme -> Dr. Wily Stage 1/2)
Origin:
Mega Man 2 (NES - 1988)
Reason: Heard during MM reveal and is used when playing Smash Run with Mega Man. A no brainer.

2. Metal Man
Origin:
Mega Man 2 (NES - 1988)
Reason:
  • Probably the most memorable of robot masters, wielding the overpowered Metal Blades.
  • His theme is also top-notch.
  • Can't explain much more besides being catchy.

3. Spark Man
Origin:
Mega Man 3 (NES - 1990)
Reason: Well, a new arrangement of it was used in the Smash Bros. Direct, so it's safe to assume it will appear in the stage. (why spend time making a song cover if it wouldn't be used?)

4. Proto Man's Theme / Whistle Concert
Origin:
Mega Man 3 (NES - 1990)
Reason:
  • The theme of a memorable partner to classic Mega Man; Proto Man, the first Mega Man!
  • Very somber melody, radically different from other Mega Man classic themes.
  • This arrangement is mostly blues-y, eventually changes a shift in tone when the electric guitars kick in.
  • Adds an emotional variety in this tracklist.

5. Cut Man
Origin:
Mega Man (NES - 1987)
Reason:
  • Despite it's surpassing sequel, we can't ignore the first one, can we?
  • Cut Man is often referred to as the very first Robot Master people often face.
  • His ridiculous design was a trendsetter for later Robot Master designs.
  • Was tough to find a remix that would fit in Wily's Castle, so I opted for the traditional rock remix (ignore the other themes in the video.)

6. We're The Robots (Dr. Wily Stage 2)
Origin:
Mega Man 9 (Various - 2008)
Reason:
  • From Mega Man's comeback entry, Mega Man 9!
  • Wily Stages have often had great themes besides Mega Man 2. This one is no exception.
  • Just an awesome song that screams Mega Man, with its mix of rock and techno.

7. Nitro Man
Origin:
Mega Man 10 (Various - 2010)
Reason:
  • A popular robot master from the most recent entries.
  • Also has one of the better themes from MM10, and was used in its debut trailer.
  • Builds up the instrument to a nice pay-off.
  • Gets your adrenaline pumping with its piano/synthesizer and guitar.

8. The Flutter vs. Gesellschaft! (TvC Version)
Origin:
Mega Man Legends (PS / N64 - 1997)
Reason:
  • An underrated series with an alternate Mega Man universe.
  • This appears to be its most iconic theme, as it was used as character themes in Capcom spin-offs (look at Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and Tron Bonne's theme in UMVC3)
  • A varying mix of techno, brass, guitar and piano that melds together.
  • Fast-paced fun!

9. Through the Air (Theme of Quick Man)
Origin:
Mega Man: Battle & Chase (PS - 1997)
Reason:
  • Oddball pick, existing in a kart racing spin-off.
  • Surprisingly jazzy and cheery.
  • Changes up the variety over instruments.
  • Somebody shared this on this forum ages ago. Whoever you were... I gawt yer gold!

10. Storm Eagle
Origin:
Mega Man X (SNES - 1993)
Reason:
  • Mega Man X, probably the top favorite of Mega Man spin-offs.
  • Next to Spark Mandrill, Storm Eagle is a popular Mega Man X theme.
  • A catchy bass riff that makes this theme feel badass.
[/collapse]

First the confirmed stuff.
Medley https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjD9atkEo70
Spark Man https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdl0NPqaH4k

Now my stuff
Name: Galaxy Man
Game: Mega Man 9
Reason: A popular track from an awesome retro-inspired game.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdDbbzuq1vY

Name: Storm Eagle
Game: Mega Man X
Reason: One of the best and most popular tracks from the the MMX series
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FiyOQoMavo

Name: Theme of Mega Man (Cut Man)
Game: Street Fighter X Tekken
Reason: The original Cut Man theme is superb, but this remix takes it to a whole new level.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8imb_xQzY0

Name: Whistle Concert
Game: Mega Man 3
Reason: While it might not be the best pick for a fighting game, it is a popular and memorable track. I think it also works nice as it was a credits theme, signifying the end of an adventure, like what the Wily Castle stage is in the games.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d30OSJkt7Dc

Name: Mega Man Cartoon Intro
TV Show: Mega Man
Reason: After the invitational, how can you not have this? SUPER FIGHTING ROBOT! MEGA MAN!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ufVQIUEiYc

Name: Juno (Little Fugue in G Minor)
Game: Mega Man Legends
Reason: While it may not be an original Mega Man track, it is a cool and creepy track from MML. It also fits nicely with the stage.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=feimQjaydPw

Name: Crash Man
Game: Mega Man 2
Reason: WHAT? More MM2 stuff in this game? Well I hope you will forgive me because this track is too funky for exclusion.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOIjzmMZi_s

Name: Heart of Enker
Game: Mega Man 10
Reason: A cool track and the most popular out of the three Mega Man killer themes in MM10.

To start this off I'm going to say one thing.... I have never played a Mega Man game, EVER. However, I did a lot of research so hopefully my song choices aren't bad (and I hope I'm not faced with bias from judges because of that one fact :awesome:). One thing I noticed with the Sonic music in Brawl is that there wasn't an overflow of music from one particular Sonic game, all in all, everything was pretty even so of course I wanted to recreate this for Mega Man. I also tried not to overload it with a bunch of robot master themes especially considering there are other notable themes. Finally, I tried to get MM songs from almost all of the classic series. I found that some of them didn't really have very popular songs so I didn't force it if I felt that way.

*Title: Title Screen/ Wily Stage 1 and 2
Universe: Mega Man
Game of Origin: Mega Man 2 (1988)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOQhuuG1rfs / http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJRoRt155mA&feature=kp
Reason: Confirmed and why wouldn't these iconic pieces of music not be used for a Megaman stage anyways?
The Smash version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlUl_hgXplg (part of it)

*Title: Spark Man
Universe: Mega Man
Game of Origin: Mega Man 3 (1990)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUha-uphaSg
Reason: Confirmed but a popular Mega Man boss theme anyways.
The Smash version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eZ0sFxyhjs

Title: Cut Man
Universe: Mega Man
Game of Origin: Mega Man (1987)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAeIMQierX4
Reason: I needed something from the first Mega Man game and this happens to double as the most popular theme from said game. It also is of a boss that was probably one of the first that people faced in a MM game EVER.

Title: Metal Man
Universe: Mega Man
Game of Origin: Mega Man 2 (1988)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=si8HiBgcg_U&feature=kp
Reason: One of the most popular robot master themes of all time can not be turned down for Smash 4. One of the TWO Megaman 2 songs on my list. Metal Blade is a popular MM weapon as well and it is featured in Mega Man's moveset.

Title: Whistle Concert
Universe: Mega Man
Game of Origin: Mega Man 3 (1990)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d30OSJkt7Dc&feature=kp
Reason: It stinks that so many people have this song now but it is iconic regardless and I'll stand by my original list too. Protoman is a very well known character in the Megaman verse and this song played as the ending to Mega Man 3. I would be utterly surprised if this didn't make it in in some capacity. On a side note, it's not short so really remixing doesn't really have to be done (think Green Hill Zone in Brawl).

Title: Final Battle
Universe: Mega Man
Game of Origin: Megaman 6 (1993)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BselAFaGfaQ
Reason: I have faith that Sakurai's composers would be able to recreate this catchy song into a longer more tune even though it is fairly short. Heck, as far as we know they did it with Spark Man. TBH, I think it would be quite easy to do as well since all he would really have to do is maybe add an interlude or make it play twice having the 2 times it does play sound fairly different. Maybe throw a Wily Machine esc. countdown beginning in there.

Title: Intro Stage (Ruined Street)
Universe: Mega Man
Game of Origin: Mega Man 7 (1995)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1T1RZttyMwU
Reason: This song is the standout from Mega Man 7 and is ultra catchy as well as not being too short.
Bonus: I found this sick remix! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G95dZBANOUw

Title: Galaxy Man
Universe: Mega Man
Game of Origin: Mega Man 9 (2008)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdDbbzuq1vY&feature=kp
Reason: Another incredibly popular robot master theme and is pretty much the most known theme from Mega Man 9. A nice space atmospheric sounding piece would make a lot of sense while also giving variety to the stage song selection. Also, the Black Hole Bomb appears as part of MM's FS so although this is a newer game from the classic series the newer games haven't been forgotten and I'd say this is a safe bet for a song.

Title: Megaman X Medley (Central Highway, Spark Mandrill, Storm Eagle)
Universe: Mega Man
Game of Origin: Mega Man X (1993)
Link: Central Highway- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jIPUdmOR9A/ Spark Mandrill- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwe9n4Den7M/ Storm Eagle- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETkGroUOEsk
Reason: All 3 of these songs are not only popular Mega Man X songs but very popular Mega Man songs in general so I wanted to include them all in a way without overcrowding the song list with Mega Man X pieces. Since all 3 of these songs are repetitive and don't really last longer than a minute I also think it makes the most sense. I would have loved to include Boomer Kuwanger and Armored Armadillo as well but then I think the song would either be too long or make it so that the more popular songs (the 3 in the medley) only have little blips which I don't think would be very good TBH. That worked for the Ocarina of Time medley mostly because the songs ARE little blips. As compensation I found this awesome medley though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APNQghAQlzM&feature=kp

Title: X vs. Zero
Universe: Mega Man
Game of Origin: Mega Man X5 (2000)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_NRP3fLh1g
Reason: This is easily the best music piece from X5 and is pretty popular in general. I thought the Mega Man X series could use a little more representation on my list and the result is this awesome piece.

Joke Piece: Smooth Mcgroove's version of Wily Castle- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iW_Ct49H1ng

EDIT: Note, I only used console games as sources for pieces. There is a reason for this...

1. Name: Dr. Wily’s Castle
Universe: Mega Man
Game of Origin: Mega Man 2 (NES, 1989)
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4VtxWRfPOk
Reasoning: It’s Wily’s Castle, of course you’re going to see one of the most iconic themes in gaming history appear on a stage COMPLETELY DEDICATED to it. Since the remix is present in the medley, I’m betting we’ll see the original as a track as well.

2. Name: Spark Man
Universe: Mega Man
Game of Origin: Mega Man 3 (NES, 1990)
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eZ0sFxyhjs
Reasoning: While I much prefer Snake Man, we’ve seen this song included in the Direct, so it’s no wild guess to say it’ll be a track for Wily’s Castle. And it’s an amazing remix at that.

3. Name: Mega Man 2 Medley
Universe: Mega Man
Game of Origin: Mega Man 2 (NES, 1989)
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjD9atkEo70
Reasoning: Besides being confirmed for the game, this literally takes the best from MM2 and mashes it together in a remix so beautiful my ears are melting.

4. Name: The Yellow Devil
Universe: Mega Man
Game of Origin: Mega Man (NES, 1987)
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HCCr6EKlkM (The Yellow Devil)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIKISh2lJGA (Fire Man’s Theme)
Reasoning: The Yellow Devil is a boss on the stage, so I thought his own theme would appear. I’ve linked the Powered Up version, but I imagine it’ll be a remix of the original, similar to this. Another idea I had for it, is to make it a bit more presentable, at certain moments (I’d say around the 0:40 mark of the first video) you mix in the first 30 seconds of Fire Man’s theme, and then go back to the chaotic Yellow Devil music. Continue this pattern. It’s a great way to represent Mega Man 1 while still keeping in touch with the stage. BUMO BUMO BUMO, BUMO BUMO.

5. Name: Skull Man
Universe: Mega Man
Game of Origin: Mega Man 4 (NES, 1992)
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZl4wMMf11w
Reasoning: Skull Man is an iconic Robot Master, and has by far the best track in Mega Man 4. Tying into the fact that Wily’s Fortress is indeed a giant skull, theming made sense.

6. Name: Wily Machine 9
Universe: Mega Man
Game of Origin: Mega Man (WiiWare, 2008)
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_BfoHsJxyU
Reasoning: This is the definition of amazing boss themes. I think it'd fit in perfectly with the stage, and Mega Man 9 needs some love anyway.

7. Name: Robot Museum
Universe: Mega Man
Game of Origin: Mega Man 7 (SNES, 1995)
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-YuRnf3KPc (Robot Museum)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAblzmf2els (Cut Man Remix)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QJTv6ZSTUg (Quick Man)

Reasoning: SNAKE MAN LIVES ON!
Let’s face it, if you’re going to have a Mega Man stage, you’ll need as many Robot Master themes as possible. I think extending the existing themes and adding a few more of the iconic ones into a remix of the Robot Museum theme from Mega Man 7 (Cut Man, Elec Man, Quick Man, Tornado Man, Shadow Man, Pharaoh Man, Slash Man, Hornet Man, Sheep Man, all good pieces to add.) much like how songs in Brawl took parts from other songs (Go KK Rider, Song of Storms) would really add to the experience. Besides, we see that Mega Man 7’s getting it’s fair share of content.

8. Gravity Man
Universe: Mega Man
Game of Origin: Mega Man 5 (NES, 1992)
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0skeFCuyfw
Reasoning: Gravity Man’s theme, remixed with a combination of orchestral and punk rock, would actually add an interesting piece to Wily’s Castle. I linked the Complete Works arrangement, mainly because the original seemed a bit too confusing.

9. Whistle Concert/Proto Man’s Theme
Universe: Mega Man
Game of Origin: Mega Man 3 (NES, 1990)
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d30OSJkt7Dc
Reasoning: This is the anthem of Mega Man fans. This theme is likely the most emotional track of the classic series, and it would be the counterpart of Midna’s Lament on Bridge of Eldin. Still mentioning Zelda, I envision this theme with the same instruments as the Ocarina of Time Medley, making a very nice remix while staying true to the original.

10. Name: Central Highway
Universe: Mega Man
Game of Origin: Mega Man X (SNES, 1993)
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNsVOdQmp-c
Reasoning: So, this is my "strange" pick.
Mega Man is a highly diverse series of video games. The Blue Bomber has taken several forms over the years, as has his music. While classic Mega Man is by far my favorite video game series, the evolution of a series really shows how much love and hard work was put into the character, from classic, to X, to Battle Network, to Legends, to Star Force, to Zero, to Mighty No. 9. Inafune’s creation lives on in many forms, whether it be the classic Blue Bomber, the Maverick Hunters X and Zero, or as the spiritual successor, Beck. Central Highway, as a stage, was the introduction to this. This was evolution. A small robot became a more powerful one. Characters die. Time goes on. The legacy of Mega Man? It lives on, even if the character himself isn’t a official Mega Man, or even part of Capcom. They are the Mega Men, every Proto Man, every Zero, every Bass, every .EXE, every Maverick, every Robot Master, every Roll, every Beck and Call, they are as much Mega Man as any other. What opened this door to the legacy? A trip down a highway. With a blue robot. Becoming stronger as he progresses to bring justice to the world and stop the infected Mavericks. This was no longer just one hero, this was a generation of them. Central Highway introduced millions of gamers across the world to an expanded universe, one that is a complete story, in many different formats. You are there when Mega Man is born, and you’re there when he finally falls. And with the Blue Bomber being revived, I think that having a song that introduced us all to the next chapter of the Mega Man Legacy is deserving of this spot.

Wait, now i'm confused, isn't the original Wily's Castle 1/2 from MM2 also in as a separate track from the medley like --- said? Pretty sure that's what I heard in that first developer direct with Villager, Mega Man and WFT.
