Official Summer of Smash Episode XII: Umebura SAT, Endgame & more

Summer of smash 2016 is currently at its apex with SSC2 and the eSport Olympics in Rio just having finished. The latter has taken place during this week with the following results:

Still coming up this weekend will be the biggest tournament Japan has seen in smash 4 yet, Umebura's second anniversary tournament of smash 4. Capping at 'only' 300 entrants due to bigger venues being difficult to find in Japan and with all of Japan's top level talents as well as visits from Mr r, dabuz and Nairo, Umebura SAT is going to be the most densely packed tournament of this summer with the highest amount of upset potential we've ever seen in smash history! As usual with japanese tournaments Umebura SAT will be broadcast on SHI-Gaming's Twitch channel.

The main tournament to look out for in the USA will be Endgame, the finale of the 2016 Midwest Circuit. More than 300 entrants are registered for smash 4. Among them are Zero, Trela, Ally, Mew2King, Tweek and Mr E. The exact schedule of the tournament can be found on Endgame's smash.gg site, the twitch stream will be provided by events2compete.

Those on top aren't super stacked pools but a list of people that don't have to do pools in order to qualify for the bracket.

If you haven't watched the stream you really missed out on something. A lot of strong teams were taken out early due to how tight the competition was [Shu + Ryuji, Nietono + Nyanko, dabuz + Abadango], there were tons of interesting teams, character combinations and matchups as well as some insane doubles gameplay, especially by the two teams still left in winners side.

Wowow, a clean 2-0 by Taiheita over Abadongo in WInners' R4. Two 2-stocks with all of Taiheita's KO's off throws. Two Hoo-hahs, an U-throw, and a D-throw Bair spike. Fairly quick set too.

Edit: Clean Greninja play by Some but still gets 2-0'd by Nairo. RIP lol

Kamemushi clutches game 1 vs. Mr. R with the footstool combo and very cleanly mops the floor with him game 2. No SDs from Mr. R this time, just him getting outplayed. Never would've called it.

Doubles finished this morning, winner's finals being a pretty clean 3-0 (especially the final game) for Komo and Ranai vs Gomo and Taiheita.
Truly showing how exploitable and exploitable both characters of that team can be despite massive health gains for Lucas / 'extra stocks' for Lucario.

Grand Finals was a closer affair, 3-2 reset into a 3-2 win for Komo/Ranai (I think?).
Double Cloud seemed to have been the most successful 'these aren't my mains' picks against them, would've been interesting to see a double Cloud from Nairo/ZeRo at SSC.

Singles is getting towards the end, Kamemushi could win this (while ZSS v Megaman could be in ZSS favour, it's difficult to play properly). Not sure if they're playing in winners semis or finals though.
Is Mario the only thing getting in Megaman's way?

Ranai in losers after Tsu- () beats him 2-1. He'll have to overcome his kryptonite (good DLC mains) and beat ikep's to get into top 16. Feel like he would have had a relatively easy path to Winner's Finals if he didn't drop that.

The Sonic/ZSS match up being shown to not be that bad, or just the level of MU knowledge is firmly in Ken's favour here (he didn't get grabbed or trapped by paralyzer almost ever, although there were too many attempts to aerial sonic out of spin dash, which doesn't seem to work anymore with the nerfed nair :<)
Maybe you could argue Nairo was off his game, but ---

Not gonna lie, i'm dissapointed in a couple of players i expected to at least make it in here: Ginko, one of the 3 Duck Hunts & ogn mainly, but i'm not going to complain for hours when Sonic finally got its breakdown result everyone was waiting for.
