I remember lending this game to my neighbor along with Melee a couple years ago.

His house was then robbed.

I got back Melee; still haven't gotten another copy of Sunshine.

Such a good game.
Clearly the thieves had issues if they took Sunshine and not Melee.

So let's talk about how scary the eel in Noki Bay was

It might be my least favourite mission in any Mario stage ever.

Haha, yeah its teeth were even worse. They were all purplish and then when you rinsed them the tar-like substance would start peeling off D:

I think this game is actually supposed to be a prequel to Luigi's Mansion. All throughout the game, there are these boxes with "symbols" that are undoubtedly Dr. E.Gadd's symbol. He created the FLUDD and the magic paintbrush that Bowser Junior was using. This is very plain to see. But E.Gadd's name or character isnt ever brought up throughout the entire game. You would think, since Mario has met him in Luigi's Mansion that'd he'd make more of an appearance than just on boxes.

King Boo in "Sunshine" also stated that he will get his revenge on Mario someday. This might point to the idea that King Boo and Mario have never even met before, and that the occurrences in Luigi's Mansion might be the revenge he was talking about in Sunshine. In fact, there are several references to Luigi's Mansion in Sunshine that might also prove that Sunshine os a prequel. "These ghosts are everywhere! I wish someone would come along and suck them all away with a vacuum or something" being the most obvious quote.

Then again, I dont know. It's just interesting to think about that.

That and you normally can't see what the heck you're doing if you're using the Hover nozzle made it kind of overly complicated and annoying. Still an interesting "battle" though.

Ugh.....I think I'm gonna try my luck at that lame episode that I quit on the other day.

Like, I know I can beat it because I've beaten it multiple times before, but now it intimidates me lol

I never understood why this game got such bad reception, though. I personally though it was good, but I guess not all the critic and whatnot.

I could never finish this game completely.

4 Blue Coins were laughing at me throughout my tiresome searching for them, laughing at me the whole time ;_;

Honestly, I don't hate Sunshine...I just don't like the Blue Coin aspect itself. There's a point in a game where they make it "Hard, it's challenging but fun", and "Hard, it's just stupidly hard". That's how part of Sunshine was for me.

The game itself was funky. I felt like I was on a huge vacation.

As annoying as Ricco Harbor could be, it was always my fav stage. Sure falling off of scaffolding, missing the jump for Yoshi's start and swimming all the way back, getting the right fruit, and those wind enemies (wind sprites?) would get in the way, but for some reason I've never had distaste in this level. Also the music is very, very good. I can almost always relax to it. :) Reminds me to go download some of it for my leisure time.

Ahh good ol' Mario Sunshine. Takes me back to the fall of 2002 when I got it for my birthday a month after it's release. Good times. My favorite world was the one with the haunted hotel. Cleaning up all that electric ooz on the level of that world took my quite awhile to figure out due to there being a race against the clock. I also liked going through the air ducts and the casino part was fun too.

Ahhh Sunshine. I think I had a love/hate relationship with it.

The tropical theme was very refreshing, as well as the ingenuity of some of the level designs. Yoshi was a great bonus, I remember after seeing him on SM64 I was like 'Let me ride him!!!!'

But by far the greatest aspect of the game was the FLUDD-less levels. They were just great, so much fun. Some of them were annoying but the challenge of beating them was great. Add the fact you could go back to them with FLUDD to get the red coins and that made it even better.

Bowser Jr./Shadow Mario annoyed me.

Noki Bay and the theme park level annoyed me the most.

Favourite stages were the Harbour and the Airstrip lol.

I played through it recently but I can't remember if I ever got 100%. Add that to my to do list.

I liked Sunshine. Using FLUDD was fun, I liked the worlds, and it was a challenge in some places. My favorite level was Pinna Park, because you got to fight Mecha Bowser, and I just loved riding the rollercoaster.

My only major complaint is the blue coins. To get 100%, you have to get every single blue coin. It's not hard to actually get each coin, but remembering which you have and haven't gotten is a huge pain.

My only complaint about sunshine is that they didn't create any real memorable enemies. Every game up to Sunshine added in new characters and enemies that have stuck with you. From goombas to koopas to Yoshi. The closest that sunshine came to that was Petey Piranha.

Aside from that I like everything else about it. While the story was still Peach gets kidnapped they added more to it to make it at least a little more interesting. I loved the voiced cutscenes and I think they should have kept those in future games.

The environments and music are great. FLUDD was a good mechanic to alter the gameplay into something more than what we had seen before. All in all I enjoyed it way more than Galaxy.

Well, Petey Piranha is a pretty big deal if you ask me. He's appeared in other games like Mario Strikers Charged, New Super Mario Bros, Brawl and even as a dino in Super Mario Galaxy. I'd say he's a pretty memorable character.

Meh, never liked the game much

The FLUDDless levels pissed me off, that **** water melon contest level pissed me off, the coins pissed me off, and the enemies also pissed me off.

Has to be my least favorite out of all the 3D Mario games

I have to admit, the mudboats at the end of corona mountain really pissed me off. I just couldn't get the steering down, and mario had to become realistic and make lava a one hit ko.

Least favorite Mario game.
I don't know, the FLUDD really, really pissed me off. Especially that "cleaning Serena Beach" first mission. I.....I hated that so much.
I was also looking forward to the Amusement Park world, but it just didn't settle right. It was more about the navigation of the back, mechanical aspects instead of like...having fun in the park.

Basically it's hilarious to say "Least favorite" because that makes it sound like a bad game, when it's not. It's very good, just my least favorite.

They took both.

After much laziness, I was able to find another copy at Gamestop yesterday. I can finally cross it off my to-do list.

Personally I think that this mario game was pretty epic, very original in my opinion. Enemies WERE memorable, and all in all it was a pretty easy game.

I loved Super Mario Sunshine. It was like Mario 64 but with a twist. Sure, the FLUDD-less levels annoyed me, but they also added a challenge to the game. Like Mario can be awesome without some crazy device to help him. I wonder why Professor E. Gadd gave the brush to Baby Bowser and made FLUDD to help Mario?

Sunshine did introduce some very memorable characters, actually. It introduced Bowser Jr, Petey, Toadsworth, and the Toad Brigade. The Toad Brigade was only officially named in Super Mario Galaxy, but if you look at all the toads, you can tell it's the same group that was in Sunshine.

It also put more emphasis on the importance of E. Gadd, as even though he didn't appear in the game, his inventions and logo did. The inventions introduced in the game are somewhat like characters and the inventions he made have occured in more than just Sunshine. Sunshine introduced Piantissimo as well, but he hasn't appeared in any other games (or has he?). Although the ending where he finds the paint brush makes me think they wouldn't just leave him with it for no reason.

It's not traditional mario, but I like it all the same. But, then again, Nintendo has to try super hard to screw up a mario game.
I don't understand why people say it isn't traditional mario considering when super mario 64 came out, it wasn't traditional style either :/

>< I wish I had never pawned this game. It's so good... playing SMG2 makes me really miss it. I need to find it and Drakengard, I thoroughly regret pawning those.

Tell me a memorable enemy besides Petey Piranha and Paint Mario (I call him that ok?)/Bowser Jr. who ended up being a staple character in the series anyways.

And he wasn't a legit enemy in that game anyways. I mean all you did was chase him around a bit and spray him. Then he goes to Bowser and you end up defeating HIM not BJr.

Not to be mean, I'm just wondering if you missed it.
