Not sure if this has been mentioned, but it sure looks like dash-dancing is back to a similar mechanic to Melee.

Source (watch megaman after he drops through the platform)

This is the first place I noticed it. Watch Link after he jumps on the right platform, he seems to do a short dash, then up-B.

This could all change, but I'd be incredibly happy to see short dashing come back.

You could say that Wavedashing was something unintentional during planning and development, but intentional in the sense of they felt like keeping it in the final game upon finding that exploit. They could have removed it, after all.

It's more of a "sure, why not?" kind of thing, I guess.

Not sure if this is the information that you're looking for, but Sakurai said that he's thinking about putting Mewtwo back in smash bros. 4.
I think since they confirmed his new form (I think it's called "Awakened Mewtwo") Mewtwo has a much higher chance of being in smash now than ever before. And they always tend to put the popular Pokemon at the time. Like with Brawl, Lucario was put in because he was popular at the time. Same with mewtwo in Melee.

I didn't see this mentioned but in the Megaman vs. Mario video you can see Mario doing a pivot grab at around the 1:14 mark.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Q3r8m31GXg
Good catch. Megaman also does a pivot jump aerial just before that, so pivoting is back. (EDIT: I'm an idiot. Proof that you shouldn't watch these vids on your phone and think that mario's cape = pivot jump)

This video also clearly shows an air clash (or just a physics miss) between their F-airs fairly early. Near the 0:19 mark.
Considering the speculation that air clashing was a thing, from evidence on some of the posted pictures on the official site, I'm relatively certain that's what it was. Should be...interesting? Not sure how I feel about that, honestly.

EDIT. I made GIFs of a few of the things pointed out. See below:

Mario's pivot grab:

Megaman's dash dance:

Link's short dash:

F-air "clash" (definitely looks like a clash with a slight pause):

This is taken from Madame Overswarm thread, does that mean Peach is a definite?
iirc, sakurai posted a comment with one of the daily updates about villager having a turnip attack, so I'm not sure this confirms peach, unless that comment was tongue-in-cheek.

Now that said, I don't think there's a chance peach gets cut, so sooner or later, I think it's safe to say she'll be confirmed

The dash dance example doesn't look like a dash dance to me. I'm sure that's just how Megaman's move works mechanically. It's probably a B attack, which can be used out of a run. It probably allows him to change momentum.

Also, it seems the magnet hands or auto-cling for Up B on to ledges is the way it was in Brawl. The original 8:00ish minute video Sakurai posted shows Mario at one point doing a double jump to a ledge. Just before he gets there you can hear the cue of his Up B, but he doesn't go past the ledge, and clings to it instead.

Top spin is definitely his dash attack. There are other examples showing that in the videos, but I don't have time to pull them up at the moment.

And there's a clear dash to the right, then a dash left + attack. The whole movement is not just an attack, because there are other examples of him using the same attack without that animation.

Yea MegaMan is the only character that shown his full moveset in Sm4sh. His dash attack is definitely his Top Spin.

Oh ok, thank you! I wonder how it will all turn out in the bigger schemes of things :oneeye:
I think another slight confirmation that it isn't Peach's turnip, is that all of her's turnips have a face on them. Granted they could always change the art, but it seems doubtful they would.

Up smashing your girlfriend
for the op, I think you should factor in if the wii u might have slightly different characters than the 3ds version (yea I know that they said that they would have the same number of characters, but they didn't say if all the same characters would be the same for both). I notice from the smash 4 website they have wii u version photos and 3ds photos, and I didn't see WFT or villager with any 3ds pics so I'm assuming their might be some differences in both the games consider different stage and what not.

Except it has been confirmed there will be no different characters between versions. The roster will be the same on both versions.

Idk if anyone mentioned it already - I just read the first and last page - but there's a Battlefield stage without the platforms on the Wii U version.

Also perhaps a new version of auto-cancelling, or l-cancelling is back

I don't think that's l-canceling. he could be shielding as fast as the landing animation allows him. with some moves, you don't necessarily have to view the WHOLE landing animation before you can shield again.

Yeah like Brawl's auto-cancelling. It would be awesome if something like this was in Smash 4.

oooh, so THATS auto-canceling..., i do it all the time yet don't know what its called. Embarrass

Well that's not really Brawl's auto-cancelling, I was just comparing the two. Auto-Cancelling is when the animation of your aerial finishes just before you hit the ground, so you can move again immediately.

That's very interesting. The first time he falls he was actually in the middle of the attack. This does mean there is much less lag after moves.

eh idk that we can base anything off this...
1. the physics are still really early.
2. there are examples of very little lag in Brawl, such as Ike's N-air...

I want to believe it though.

The initial connection I made upon seeing this picture was that it was from either Donkey Kong OR Ketzal's Corridors...since it has a sort of aztec/ruins theme.

Upon looking at the Ketzal's Corridors gameplay though (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhyg1kIfWf4) there doesn't seem to be much of a connection.

A mystery.

(By the way, I believe Ketzal's Corridors belongs to Nintendo, is that right?)

Ketzal's Corridors is owned by Nintendo. I've actually played that game and it's quite fun. It can be quite challenging too.

A stage based on that game would be interesting, now that you mention that game.

It might be a DKCR stage, since the first trailer shows that stage briefly and the upper part of that stage is jungle themed. Given the size, however, it could be an Adventure stage or possibly a scrolling stage. We'll have to wait and see what that stage might be...

Perhaps, the daily website pictures might eventually show more of that stage? Could be something to look forward to...

Now that you mention it, I suppose it might be a successor to Rumble Falls from Brawl.
