can someone bring a small tv? 2 tvs for a smashfest imo is good enough, the place is free and a dining hall is right across from it. and also roby can get there with just 1 bus

BTW i called up magic stronghold n talked to jack to clarify the **** for me

he said its 5$ per person drop in venue fee that covers the whole day

or a 10$ membership per person that covers the daily venue fee and the tournament venue fee for a month

****, really? so, what we were doing before by just dropping in and playing wasn't legit? i wasn't aware of this. what's the deal with press start though? can we just do our smashfests there?

yeah it's kinda far from where i go to school though, which is where i'll be coming from. it kinda sucks that it isn't super close to any skytrain stations, it's like a 10-15 min. walk isn't it?

either someone get another 2 tvs, big or small to that dorm lounge, or forget weekly/biweekly smash.
too bad i threw out all of my extra tvs cause i thought we wont be doing smash anymore.

BC started gettin melee hype again because we FINALLY had a good solid venue in stronghold. but now that stronghold lawled in our face, im afraid to say that the upward direction we were heading in will start to decline back to where we used to be.

the only thing left to save us would be press start...

$5 isn't much for a month especially since were using their building and electricity. It wouldn't make sense if we went there for free. People just need to stop being cheap.

we've done the whole smash at sfu thing before. if the room isnt rented out and we arent students theres always a chance to get kicked out, and this has happened to us many times. im not sure smashfests at sfu is such a good idea.

paying 10 bucks a month for friendlies, like john said, isnt that much. you could play 20+ days in a month if u wanted for 10 bucks which is a pretty good deal. includes cover fee for the tournament (if there was one that month)... HOWEVER, its only worth it if everyone was going to pay and use the venue more often than not. our community as a whole doesnt generally like to spend money lol. which means there might be 3-4 people who pay the 10 bucks and come every now and then, in which case paying a venue fee would be useless if you play the same handful of guys every time. might as well host a house smashfest.

I like how no one really corrected me on the $10 thing when I accidentally said $5 lol. Im also sure they aren't charging because people are loud but its because theres always a chance something will break like a certain table and the big mess people usually leave behind. I remember Jack 2.0 asking people to clean up after their pho but they just left it and he had to clean it up. They've always been charging even for Marvel on Wednesday.

I'll stick to stronghold. For me its that or nothing. I think Sion/Genesis would agree too.

I believe its also $2 for the day. The best way is to call them and ask if the monthly membership is from everything. I wouldn't see why it wouldn't though. Also if you guys are doing biweekly its only $2 so $4 a month rofl.
