Yeah, I wasn't really moved by the first episode~ I do realize that slice-of-life type animes are meant to be light and uneventful and I might keep watching it to pass time... but compared to say, Soul Eater, it really isn't as engaging. You take both the Melancholy of harui and Beck, blend them together, add some fanservice and this is pretty much what you get~

Haha, my bad. So anyway, it seems like the storyline (if there will be any plot at all) is going to be very Lucky Star-ish. There's nothing intriguing, no dynamic/deep characters. Just another Lucky Star or Azumanga Daioh-like slice of life extravaganza. The magic is in the personalities and humor.

Well there wasn't exactly a goal in Lucky Star.. this one at least we know there will be a focal point of them trying to form a good band.

Hm, yeah, true. I suppose that's the only 'direction' the anime can possibly take. I doubt there will be any twists and turns... just a lot of random adventures. Overall "cute" is the word to describe it, haha. I have a feeling the ending will have a good-feeling and satisfying air to it, with a pleasant climax.

It started airing in Japan on April 3rd, so Friday. But I'm not sure what time it airs, so it might be airing when it's still Thursday in the US.

fansubs these days are really fast
as soon as the episode is finish ppl upload it a few minutes or even right after
then it takes only a few hours for the team of translator and encoders to finish it
those are speedsubs which can have bad quality
but some fans can wait for quality
others take there time and can take a few days for superior encoding and translation and video
while others take forever... as in months lol
i usually wait but this time i just got a speedsub and am going to replace it as soon as someone better releases a higher quality release

It's too bad some of the bigger fansubbers aren't doing K-ON!, such as Eclipse, gg, etc. They not only release stuff within 12 hours, but they pretty much always have really high quality video, and have really good translations as well.

Yeah, it kind of sucks that a big fansub group isn't subbing K-On! yet.
I've only download the sub by CoalGuys, so I don't know how the other are like.

PLATiNUM just used CoalGuys' translations, but with a slightly higher quality video. But I wouldn't recommend you download episode 1 of theirs, though, since the first version has the audio off, and the second version has the subtitles about half a second behind the video.
Also, don't download Aasasubs. Theirs may have "wisescreen" resolution, but they just simply stretched the video horizontally to make it look that way (i.e. anamorphic widescreen).

So I watched the first episode last Saturday and I thought all of them were really cute.

I especially like the "flashback is a lie" from Mio. It sounds like meme potential (must have been those humorous translators/editors at CoalGuys).

There were some boring parts but it's not too bad, especially considering it's the first episode. The CLANNAD recap episode and some of the Lucky Star episodes are worst, so yeah...

the real reason I watch this is for the girls. KyoAni knows where the money is printed from, and in its case, it's not the Wii.

Can't help but think Mio is a non-loli version of Nagi.
