Yup. That explains it then. West Coast was all over the site since it's conception which was close to when MLG took over Smash boards, I think. Either way, when I first even heard of AiB(I think it was before Brawl came out but if not it was shortly, shortly after) it was flooded with WC.

Actually, AiB was originally called "TIA" (to go in tandem with "TIO" bracket software). AllisBrawl was later created to make TIA a more social networking site in addition to the TIA bracket archives.

A contributing factor to WC being big on AiB could be the fact that Neal was active in promoting TIA in the West Coast regional boards here on SWF during it's beta and through its development. When TIA made the transition to AiB a lot of WC smashers already had accounts and profiles transferred with it.

I can't believe TeeVee outranked Teevee, wow.

It still doesn't take into account who you beat, or the difficulty of the competition.
No, just consistency over a 6 month span... cept for me, cuz I just have like two ROB wins or something putting me up there.

You get points for getting top 8 and above. It's basically a no-nonsense approach.

Points account for population, btw. If Chibo gets top 8 once out of every 4 tournaments with 64 people, he's going to do better than someone who gets top 8 at 16 man tournaments 4 times.

Someone who went only to one tournament and placed 3rd, for example, can be better than someone who went to some more tournaments of the same level and placed 3rd because not everybody can attend tournaments very often. Therefore, I think we should only use tournament results as a reference, not something that will decide the rankings. Imagine we were doing the rankings and placing 3rd = 10 points.

Person A - 1 tournament: 3rd out of 32.
Person B - 2 tournaments: 3rd out of 32 in both.

Person A: 10 points
Person B: 20 points

However, this doesn't mean that Person B is better than Person A. This means that Person B attends more tournaments.
