commenting for hype. on gimr's live stream coney was going ham for a bit. there were a lot of really sick combos going on that i havent seen in any other dedede vids, but i don't think any of those matches were uploaded to youtube.

d3is not a very popular character atm so i wouldnt expect to find a lot of vids till the full game is released in NA.

Oooo, nice! I have added it, thanks!

Yeah, there is a general lack of Dedede thus far... It's rather saddening... So any amount of good gameplay of the King at this point is excellent to see!

Though I have heard that For Glory online in Japan does have a good amount of Dedede players roaming about.

I play for glory daily, and I'd say DDD is a rare character to encounter. Glory is filled with sheik, lil mac, and marios :p

Well, I hope all those people not using King Dedede are prepared to be thrown into the dungeon for treason against the (100% official) Dreamland Crown. :4dedede:

Ohohoho, no, you underestimate me.

That was the first theme to come to mind. I, however, though it was to be expected of a thread dedicated to videos featuring the King, so I wanted to do something else.
Besides, being a "theater" sounds so much more regal and high brow. :4dedede:

hey guys this video is from like 2 weeks ago and only feature DDD in the first match but since I dont see it here I figured I would throw it in and ask a question about it at the same time.

heres the vid: http://youtu.be/3wYz2_C6fW4 and heres the question: how does Oracle do that built in Gordo reflect @ 3:23? in the video the commentator (Denti) said it was done by pressing Side B at the right time but I tried that yesterday at my brothers house and it wasnt working so im not sure if thats right. it definitely seems as if he was right about the difficulty but does anyone know if it truly is a well timed Side B or does it actually involve the A button as I heard elsewhere?

I think I heard something about the A button in another Oracle match video which along with my limited time with the game, confused the hell out of me and probably made it harder for me to do it successfully. anyone have a clue?

Side B is really all there is to it.

The timing is really strict, and you're probably better off just hitting it with a jab.

Hey guys, so here's a cool thing about DDD I can't explain and I wanted to know if you already knew about it or not.

The video h t t p : / / youtu.be/WyYVox_9gDI?t=5m35s (yeah it's starts @5"35)
(sorry it seems I'm not allowed to post a correct link)

As you can see, after that gordo throw, he goes for a Fair, then presses down and he is immediately able to do his Dtilt twice : no time to get on his feet needed.
So I don't know about you guys but when I do a Fair with DDD I have to be really careful because my penguin takes forever to do another hit. It's also really easy to be punished in that situation.

So I'm sorry if someone has already asked this question, but I can't manage to understand how this guy gets up so quickly :/

Thank you!

Just picked up King Dedede a few days ago, liking him so far, but hard to apply pressure. Any tips?
Only have time to analyze the first video, so here goes.

Short hop fair isn't safe at low %, as it doesn't autocancel at that height, and the knockback isn't enough to allow a safe landing. You could've punished Shulk's terrible jab with a dash grab. Or at low %, fast-fall nair into uptilt or even weak hit of fast falled nair into grab works.

You should try pursuing people off-stage / up in the air :

-UAir is a great juggle tool and a potent kill move.
-TripleD's primary strength is his edgeguarding game. Throw a gordo off the ledge to limit the recovering opponent's options, then go out there and spam aerials, wall spike him. Do whatever it takes. TripleD thrives off-stage, this is what you need to focus on the most.

At 1:25, you rolled into a smash. There was no reason for you to roll at that particular moment. This feels like you were playing on auto-pilot. At every single moment in your game, you must thing about what move you're doing. There has to be a good reason for you to do that move at that moment.

Never play on auto-pilot.

Other than than, you had decent spacing, gotta be careful about Shulk's aerials.

VGBootCamp posted up their first 3DS tourney up today. Two seperate DeDeDe's went up a good part of the chain. Maybe not the best but it should be some good video feed.

I'm really liking the potential for Gordo shenanigans on Yoshi's Island. I had never though of that... Seems interesting...

I only watched the first game with Manacloud and last game vs Ken, but here's what I gathered from what I saw:

1) You roll too much. Especially at the start of the match for the first minute you were literally using rolling as a movement option instead of walking. You got better as the matches progressed though.
As a side note, try to not roll into your opponent, it's usually not a good habit to get into. Instead shield and F-Tilt or something.

2) D3 has a lot of jumps, so try abusing D3's air game a bit more, you spent a lot of time on the ground. I really like creating space with D3's B-Air, as you can do it pretty close to the ground with no landing lag, as opposed to F-Air.

3) Decent Gordo usage but sometimes I think you use it too much/half-hazardly. If you want approach options, try B-Airs, jabs, F-Tilts, or simply shielding and walking up to them and grabbing.

4) Sometimes you use his smash attacks a bit wrecklessly, leaving you open for punishment. Try only using his heavy-hitting moves when you are sure about a read, as opposed to hoping he's gonna walk into it or something.

Hope some of this helps, I know it helped me because I make some of the same mistakes playing D3. Good stuff though, first purple D3 player I've seen!

I definitely agree with ewic on his first point.
I think you played overall pretty nicely, but there was too much rolling. I'd say that's what you should focus on at this point. The earlier you catch a habit, the easier it'll be to put an end to it.

Granted, that's not to say you should never roll.

Set from a tournament on the weekend. First game was not recorded. http://www.twitch.tv/newgameplustv/b/594230879
I am happy to hear any general advice the wise people of this board may have to offer. Apart from "Don't SD", preferably.
Sorry for the late reply, those where actually great games.
Which stage did you ban for game 3? I personally feel Battlefield is our worst stage to play on. The platforms being too cluttered and TripleD being generally terrible playing with them makes me feel uneasy on BF.

Biggest "issue" is probably to watch your landings. Often on BF (5:40ish, 6:08, 6:15...) you land aerials extremely close to Falco where he can mindlessly punish your landing lag. It's generally something I do on a stock lead to control space, as I don't really need to get in, just keep my opponent away/limit his approaching options, albeit on a larger stage, where I can safely recover from the landing lag.

Otherwise you seem like a solid player.

Thanks for your thoughts. I hate my landings as well; always seem to somehow pick the wrong option of aerialing, Inhale or do nothing lol.

Stage list was a bit weird for this tournament; I don't think the host had much prior experience with hosting Smash tournaments. Stage list was your usual 8-9 stages but there were three stage bans for some reason. He did win on Battlefield game one but I agreed to go back there. Because I am a gentleman.
- I did ask him what stage he would go to if I didn't agree to Battlefield and he said Final Destination. I was pretty comfortable on Battlefield since I have beaten him there in the 3DS tournaments. But I honestly have no idea about what Dedede's good stages are.

I like stages which give me room to breath while also giving me the option for varying approaches.
FD-sized stages (give or take) with some platforms, transforming or not transforming. I really like those.
Smashville and Town and City are my favorites, personally. The platforms on Town and City don't feel as congested as Battlefield.

:4dedede: 2BLOX vs Via :4megaman: :4sonic:

Megaman's such a rough MU...
I've conditioned myself to stop jumping from the ledge to recover on stage. At least vs Megaman. It's pretty absurd how easy Megaman can punish it with fair or even bair for a kill.

I feel 2Blox counterpicked himself into BF in game 2, I really don't think BF is advantageous for TripleD in any matchup whatsoever. But that might be just me with the strong BF bias speaking. Entirely open to hear tricks about playing on this ****ing stage.

Also, Megaman at close range basically gets a free UTilt on our shield at best for us; I don't think we have any option that beats Mega Upper.

I'm posting all of my tournament matches from last week (12/6/14) here. Let me know what you think!
Good matches. The thing that really jumps out to me is the lack of fast fall nair. It is one of our best options when we are above our opponents, and I feel like it could have been used in a lot of those situations. At low percents, it also combo's into u-tilt/u-tilt. Using more fast fall nairs would really improve your game, i think. Overall nice job.

I haven't watched the videos, but I've found FF nair to be a bit...bad.

It doesn't have enough pushback to stop a shield grab from a grounded opponent, so I've found opponents with good reactions can punish it almost every time. It's also not a disjointed hitbox, so it can be very dangerous and tricky to go for it against an aerial opponent.

I've found DDD's only real option when he's above the opponent to be "get away from the opponent". If you can get far enough away, drop a safe-ish up gordo and prepare to shield it if the opponent knocks it back at you.

Occasionally the opponent will mess up chasing you in the air, at which point I wholly endorse punishing them with a nair( just never against yoshi, it's nearly impossible to thread that needle against uair spam. Best to just try and get to the ground )

In the match with the Yoshi - you smacked him with a ton of Fairs. Good, but if any of those had been a Bair you would've killed him far sooner. Try using Bair a little more, both as an approach (RAR) option and from a fullhop -> jump other way + instant Bair.

Also agreed with Reverbo's note on Nairs. Falling Nair would've helped out a lot, in the Zelda match as well. Both from high up, and right after a Gordo throw to beat the reflection.
