Let me get this clear: A,A DI crouch, A,A? Like that? And can it be combined with smash attacks?
You can even cancel after every single jab, comes out pretty fast and takes the opponent a while to di away from it, I always do this with Sheik granted her jabs are extremely fast, but I don't think there is that much of a speed difference with Links. It works especially well on heavy characters, it can wrack up a pretty good amount of damage.

Theoretically, yes. I've never put this to use (I've seen Ike mainers do it. :p) but I guess I'll start. Put this in my game some where. Anyone know when to do this (other than the wall infinite)? Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing maybe when in the beginning of the jab lock, when the guy is too close for you to take a few steps? I dunno really, just a thought.

You use Jab canceling to rack up more damage at low percentages. Of course you can't do this all the time due to predictability, and you're able to DI the 2nd jab (not sure about the first).

One good string of attacks is jab > jab > *cancel* > jab > jab > U-tilt. Easy damage racking and a good way to follow up with air attacks.

Ike mainers do this cause it's harder for people to DI out of it since the 2nd jab makes Ike move forward. Link stays in place the entire time, so the tech can't be used as much.

Ah thanks for clearing up the Ike thing. And that combo seems nice. I'll try to remember it. Thanks! :D

Actually, Link's second jab either doesn't move you very much at all. His first jab moves them away more. You can cancel the first lag and use it for really good shield pressure if you can do it properly. It's faster than doing jabx2 cancels, but jabx2 can lead to better combos and it's relatively easier to punish bad DI. So Jabx1 on shields to pressure and jabx2 for combos ^^

knowledge is power . That's what Link mainers need?

There's a few stages that might help, but i don't think the neutrals do very much. If Mario Circuit isn't banned, it's generally good against characters with good recoveries and strong edgeguarding abilities. It's bad vs characters that can chaingrab though. Norfair's multiple edges can help you. Uhhh there's other stages I'm not really thinking of right now.

there will not be an update this weekend. I'm working on setting up match-ups and stuff, plus I need to fix jab cancelling and move it in the guide. (Thanks to Deva for clearing that up, jab cancelling confused me) So, this weekend I will definately work on it, but expect the next update in 2-3 weeks, with at least 2 character match-ups. Thanks for being patient.

Seriously, for the match-ups, just provide a link to Bouse's thread. It'll be much easier for both you and the readers, since all the opinions will be in one place.

Yeah, either copy and paste Bouse's thread ( with permission and citing of course) or post a link to it. And yeah, Izaw's a great guy, and I respect what he's done for the smash community, but from the first time I saw jab canceling in his vid I was like "crap, this'll take forever to clear up" lol.

Di imensly helps Link's recovery. Also throwing a rang and pulling a bomb really help.
U know how you can be put in the situation where your recovery is so bad that once knocked of stage the opponent doesn't even need to attempt a gimp?

DI fix's that for the most part.

For starters. Use aerials. Bair is your faster areal so smash back on that C-Stick. Aerials affect your flight trajectory after you take a hit.

If your not online learn to smash DI. It is pretty hard to do online due to lag but it is essential offline.

Do you want to help Links recovery? Then do NOT air dodge. Use aerials. THIS IS PROOF

what about the matchup and Link mainers need to stop making to much at's for link and find a way to help his recovery.
Im working on it,

So far I found out that using dair to bounce on opponents projectiles is fun.

Im also trying to make wavebonce a recovery option. so far I´ve found out that you need to DI away from stage first for a short second, then fast make your wavbounce. so if you are sent off stage to the left first DI upwards/upwards/right(think compass when reading that) until you airdodge when in the end of airdodge animation DI to the left(away from stage) a short second then FAST move your control stick to the right(towards stage) and at the same time move c-stick to the left(away from stage) and press special attack button(for me its R). so in shor its t: DI properly -> airdodge -> DI away from stage -> control-stick towards stage + C-stick away from stage + special attack button (if you dont B-stick, which I would say is kind of stupid)

Pulling a bomb helps, as bombjump setup if hit out of your up B. throwing rang at edgeguarder helps too.

and if an attack hits you so low that you cant recover from it you probably just could have zair whiplash recover.

so there is a lot of options that all works for a certain situation, that makes links recovery ehm, not totally suck, you need to practice a lot though to learn what option to use at a certain situation.

nice , that will help a lot
I maybe should add that wavebounce recovery is still under testing, it seems that it makes you can survive at higher percentages if its used correctly but dont help your recovery that much really.

I forgot one thing, if you catch your rang(catch animation) you will get a slight bump upwards about as much as snake gets from his fair.

Yeah, I've noticed that. The key to getting back on stage with Link is to be aggressive with his projectiles. If they chase after you off the stage, they only have two options:

Dodging them: they will fall under you and then THEY'll be the ones that are now trying to get back on.

Getting hit by them: they usually can't do crap about you getting back on stage. This might also turn the tables as to who's edgeguarding who.

Win/win sitch. :p

O btw, MK will be banned for the next few tournies in Houston, so I'm hoping I'll see some more mid/low tier chars. *cough*LINK*cough*.

Please tell me you're kidding o_0. Theyre actually banning MK? Whoever is running the tournaments there should stop being lazy and learn to play against MK. He's top tier for a reason, but not enough to ban the character. Why dont they just run a low tier tournament afterwards?

I'm sorry, I'm just against banning characters. It's just my veiw of how the competitive smash scene should be. Honestly, what's the point of going all Link in a tournament if you dont get to **** the face of a few MK's along the way =P

I dont agree with banning meta, people make it seem like meta is invincible. He is a very light char and if you play smart you can overcome a meta. 105% of metas play aggressively and if you can counter that rage you can win. You have to stay out of chars **** combos/stringed attacks but the problem is meta is a **** combo so if you make a mistake against a good one youve already lost a stock.

But fighting metas, snakes ect and winning gives you a sense of accomplishment so I dont agree with the banning.

ok, so I've recieved the pictures from LinkSpecialist and I've fully uppdated the images in this guide. It may be another week before I finish the MK match-up, so I figure I'll release MK as a seperate update from the rest of the God tier characters. I will also be releasing ledge tactics and some other metagame stuff like spiking.

Jeez, man I admire you. The amount of effort is unreal.
I wouldn't call it unreal. I've been slacking off like no other the past couple of weeks. LinkSpecialist and I have been having problems with the pictures on the OP and we've (well, mostly he) been finding a way to fix this tedious issue. As a result, I've just waited for the pictures have been re-done without doing any work.

I'd like to apologize for the slow updates lately. School has also been demanding lately, which has also been impeded my progress. I'm pleased to anounce that updates will increase after this week. All of my projects are due this week, and after they're completed I'll have nothing but time on my hands. :)

I don't mean how much effort you put it into it daily or whatever, I meant like.......it's huge as is, thorough as is, amazing as is, and you still are adding to it. That's like.....unreal lol

lol, that's exactly why I want your guide to be stickied, too. I mean, there are several people who simply don't have the time to read through my entire guide. I concise guide such as yours deserves to be stickied because it states the facts.

:) SASOOK'S GUIDE FOR STICKY! :)
