THIS TOPIC IS ONLY FOR VOTING, DISCUSS STAGES ON A DIFFERENT PAGE

I feel that we have enough of a group input to finally make an "official" stage rule set. I find that it would be the best to vote for each stage. I find the current list stagnant and it seems many others have found the same thing. I will list the stages twice, once for singles, once for doubles.

Rules:

Every person who is voting is required to vote for All stages. Do not bother trolling this page, I will report all trolling as this topic is srs bsns. The stages will be decided by a culmination of votes whether they be neutrals, counterpicks, or banned. (Or Neutral/Counterpick, Counterpick/Banned, etc). You can vote for all of them by category or just go by the list of stages below. For online specifically, hacked stages will also be included.

List of stages for reference/copying

PC, YS, CJ, DL, HC, Sect Z, Plat Z, SC, MK, BF, KB1, KB2, FD, MM

Peach's Castle: will be abbreviated below as PC
Yoshi's Story: Will be abbreviated below as YS
Congo Jungle: Will be abbreviated below as CJ

Kirby Beta 1: Will be abbreviated below as KB1
Kirby Beta 2: Will be abbreviated below as KB2
Master hand's Domain/Final Destination Will be abbreviated below as FD
Metal Mario: Will be abbreviated below as MM

There will be a list of each person below:
List of people voting:

I don't think that hacked stages should be considered neutral under any cirsumstances.

I meant

Post them by

Neutral
Counterpick
Banned

Do not use A, B, and C.

Both of your opinions were added.

Nintendude's way of posting is preferred (All stages in one part instead of repeating). If you find a stage better for doubles than singles, just post it with it (such as: neutral for singles, counterpick for doubles, or something similar)

ban Sector Z
you have to include Every stage or I will not voice an opinion

Boom, if you think that Gameshark stages shouldn't be allowed, then list them as banned and post all other stages.

In other words: I am only using votes that include all votes, no exceptions

I really haven't played much on the kirby beta or metal mario stages, so my opinions there should be taken with even more grains of salt than usual.

Sector Z - Too big for singles, loads of camping
Kirby Beta 1 and 2 - Not good stages, dumb platforms and ledges in wrong places.
Metal Mario - Too small for both 1vs1 and teams
Mushroom Kingdom - Terrible Side camping and grab spamming

you should change the topic title to "Online Tournament Stage List Discussion/Voting"
My votes would certainly change depending on which was intended. Which is this list meant for - online or console play?

And if you use stage striking (which I think is best), use all the neutrals and counterpicks of this list

doubles:
PC counterpick
YS banned
CJ counterpick
DL counterpick
HC neutral
Sect Z banned
Plat Z banned
SC counterpick
MK banned
gameshark stages banned

Same stuff with stage striking

The online stages/any hacked play are just for online.

The offline stage are for offline and online.

adding everything

Also, once above 10 people decide a stage specifically (as in, 10 neutrals for hyrule castle, 1 counterpick), I will take that stage out and list it as part of a "community approved' stage list.

The closest things to this occuring are:

Peach's castle becoming a counterpick
Yoshi's Story becoming banned

What if a stage got, say, 10 votes for neutral and 9 for counterpick? That would be kind of unfair. I suggest also requiring a 2/3 majority for a decision to be final (like what they do in the Melee/Brawl communities).

This is harder then it needs to be so, im just going to say the names, if blueyoshi wants to turn them into these letters then fine but im not going through all the work.

Saffron - counter pick
Dream land - Counter pick
Hyrule - Neutral
Yoshi Island - Banned
Mushroom kingdom - Banned
Peach castle - Neutral
Zebes - Banned
Congo Jungle - Neutral
Cheat Stages - Banned

Saffron - Neutral
Dream land - Neutral
Hyrule - Neutral
Yoshi Island - counter pick
Mushroom kingdom - Banned
Peach castle - Neutral
Zebes - Banned
Congo Jungle - Neutral
Cheat Stages - Banned

Dream land in singles you could easily be ness or kirby which have Dair spikes and are easy and quick to use and theres more air then ground so you have huge advantage against someone like Falcon or link or Samus.

Saffron - The pokemon make it sort of a counter pick against people who are use to using combos off walls and ness and kirby sense they can spike with dair once again.

Cheat stages - as said, there cheat stages. In the kirby beta ones the walls are horribly buggy and if you fast fall through some of them you teleport to edge.

The rest of banned / counter pick stages is just really known why there banned, Sector Z, Huge map, just for newbies to camp on, Yoshi island, camp the clouds with pikachu, Mushroom kingdom, just through while camping under the bricks or spike them when the platforms are gone in middle of map or use pow. Zebes, stupid lava everywere.

I feel like, because of the slopes, camping doesn't actually work all that well at Sector Z. Maybe it's a small sample size... I pretty much never play it with good players.

It was my favorite level before I started playing online (i.e. before I knew how to play). Now, it's probably my least favorite level, just because the matches take foreverrrrrr.

as I said, it is a majority towards a specific one. This means:

(as in, 10 neutrals for hyrule castle, 1 counterpick)
It won't be a majority if the stage is 10-7 or something similar.

I might post a separate topic if there are specific stages that need to be chosen.

Will add Smasherx74 once this page finishes.

You were very vague then, and didn't define what you consider to be a majority (a definite percentage should be set to avoid discrepancies on what a majority is).

if you think about, what defines a majority? Use common sense.

an even amount is between 4-6 and 6-4 similar to matchups in smash 64.

A majority is 7-3 or above or 3-7/below. This of this being a "hard" counter in smash 64.

Koro I hate to break it to you but:

ma·jor·i·ty
a number of voters or votes, jurors, or others in agreement, constituting more than half of the total number.

from dictionary.com

majority (plural majorities)

1. More than half (50%) of some group

@ballin4life Yeah technically supermajority is the correct word to use here.

@Korobeniki Common sense isn't related to knowing the definition of something >_>
