I know I'm not the first to say it, nor the last, but RIP Twitch. Why must the good die young?

Youtube getting bigger??

thing is, with takeovers like these there won't be much to choose from in the future, since it's gonna be all from one big company... If the big ones keep buying the smaller ones, there's nothing in the future that CAn compete with it... They can make something that work, but the big guys will eventually buy it for a not-likely-to-resist price... I'd gave up that Twitch thingy too for one billion... but it makes youtube even bigger than it already was... soon we'll all have to bow...

And I wouldn't touch hitbox, wasn't there something about it being owned by a guy who's streaming site went down and he still owes people thousands upon thousands of dollars? eek.
Hadn't heard anything about that, but honestly, I haven't done any research on it. Someone pointed it out, there's zero delay on the streams so I can have a conversation with a streamer without it being a minute delayed, eh. I never stream there, but I might well do so sooner than later. Who knows.

It's something to at least consider. I have some plans to do streaming and some videos, and I'm just going to use another site. I like twitch but it has issues too, and I can't support youtube really.

Wow I hope YouTube helps with the lagging problem but other than that, I hope it stays the same, maybe link your YouTube and Twitch channels.

One Billion?!
I feel compelled to make ridiculous demands and use Independance Day Footage.

Imo, I have little issue with Google Plus. I just hope they don't force the whole Youtube Stream thing.

Variety is reporting that YouTube has reached an agreement with Twitch to acquire the leading video game streaming service for $1 billion. Twitch has been gaining more and more momentum in the last two years - the service boats over 45 million unique viewers a month who consume over 9 billion minutes of video. Variety describes the deal as follows:

"The deal, in an all-cash offer, is expected to be announced imminently, sources said. If completed the acquisition would be the most significant in the history of YouTube, which Google acquired in 2006 for $1.65 billion. The impending acquisition comes after longtime Google ad exec Susan Wojcicki was named CEO of YouTube earlier this year."

When news hit, gamers, and the Smashers among them, took a mostly negative outlook. Worries of integration with Google+ or of the poor buffering service seen on YouTube are large concerns. Others wonder what this will mean for advertising and how it will effect Twitch partners like VGBootcamp and Clash Tournaments. A final, possibly much bigger issue, will be if this deal effects music that is streamed and whether it will bring the often inaccurate YouTube Content ID system to Twitch.

At the moment though, Twitch faces considerable challenges in the streaming space. Major League Gaming's recently launched MLG.TV saw huge growth since 2013. Alongside the recent re-launch of Azubu.tv and newcomer Hitbox.tv, Twitch will need to maintain it's current commitment to service and innovation if it wants to remain the leader in video game livestreaming.

Twitch and YouTube have not yet made official public comment concerning the deal.

UPDATE: The Wallstreet Journal says this may not be inked yet.
Well its time to delete my twitch account now.

MLG.tv sucks. Seeing as this is just a rumor everyone who uses twitch is fine. But if this does happen theres two possibilities

What should happen :

Leave twitch as is, but increase servers so streamers can provide better streams with no lag and the viewers can enjoy without constant technical interruptions

Whats probably going to happen :

Twitch gets youtube ads
Copyright laws for everyone
Constant interface changes and why there good for you

But hopefully this just stays a rumor

Google/CIA literally 'know' the type of porn you watch. Think about that for a minute. Not to mention how much they know about the way you think based on your search engine queries. I am not saying that they care about what you think/watch. I am merely saying that the have the data and can access it anytime.

If you are not are not slightly concerned with this you are either stupid and/or ignorant. I dislike Google due to the simple fact that they have massive amounts of information about people's "private" thoughts and they never hesitate to give up this information to third parties (such as the CIA). Information is valuable and that's exactly why Google is always trying to get out even more. Why do you think Google is pushing Google+ in your face? Think about that as well.

I think this can be great news for the Smash community. Just keep in mind that Google is not your friend and from now on they have access to every bit of information channeled trough Twitch.tv.

So... Do you think Google will own everything by 2020, or will Disney own everything?
What I'm wondering is why nothing is happening on the food war front. Will Taco Bell emerge victorious, in slaying it's competition and being the only food place to get food? :O (If things are happening, then I'm just not looking closely at it because I rarely go there or really... pay attention to them. But I'm pretty sure it ain't that big)

IDK dude, but Taco Bell's been around since I've been born, and they're still going strong. They usually have a KFC attached to them these days. :D
