to any and all who are debating over not coming, WGF are always a blast and as always Pat knows how to run a good tournament. Also if you guys need a place to stay feel free to ask the SD community, we're friendly i promise

Seriously, anyone not going to Pound 4 should definitely come to this! It's a two day tourny in SD! I've never seen the Ballroom, but AznLep has told me great things about it! I'm gonna start bumping this thang because it really deserves a sticky!

the ballroom is pretty epic. it's gamer heaven for two days and the projector is enormous, so all the big matches have major hype. i've been to the last 3 WGF's so i've got a fair amount of experience with them. also if anyone is into guitar hero/halo/gears of war/dota you can watch all of those/enter all of those on a competitive level.

it's ****.

I'll try to make it, but my efforts won't be anything extraordinary.

Though I doubt anyone actually cares.

I think I'm going to attend this.

Johnny, I'd be down to team with you, although I have no idea how the Falcon + ICs team works.

So this is how the other events go

All the other events are free. Since they are free, the prices aren't cash but instead its w/e the sponsors decide to give you. 2 years ago I got 2nd in Guitar Hero 3 and I ended up getting Halo3 (which i sold on ebay for 30 bucks) as the prize. Mind you however there are sign ups on the sixth college website for all the games except smash since the other events are actually being run by the UCSD Sixth College students and not an insider like Aznlep. The most popular sign up is Dota for sure. I recall signing up my team the moment signups went up and I checked an hour later to find that the limit (16 teams) was already full. Btw UCSD has a history of some wack dota teams winning with players like x6.chouji and former x6.demon? playing on the winning team at one time.

I believe Smash and "maybe" guitar hero are the only games in which outsiders actually come to the event to compete though. Say if I posted on SRK that an SF4 tourney was going down and like 50 non-UCSD students showed up, I have no idea if they could even compete. All in all I think that the events other than smash are aimed more towards students but a few outsiders here and there won't ever be noticed since they don't check for ID or anything.

I'll post the website when its up

The venue is also amazing. It is not the same venue as the UCSD triweeklies and instead its a huge ballroom that is more or less the size of a basketball court. The most similar venue would be HAX in which activegamers coast2coast was held. Free bawls every year usually too lol. A variety of food is literally a minute walk away. If you're not going to pound, any WC smash player should really come to this.
