if you change characters, it will not take away your stars (not that they do anything). if you change your name, it will. if you change yuorself to a CPU, and change yuorself back, you still have you stars

Those stars tell you how many KO's has that particular player performed on a single match round. They can be reset by getting out of the BRAWL mode, or by getting out of the game (that includes power shortages). The star count is not affected by rules or characters used, but it is affected by player selection. For example, if you are playing as "SMASH"and you switch to the name "IM#1", the stars earned by "SMASH" will be erased, and "IM#1" will start earning stars for the KO's. Even if you started using Peach when using the name "IM#1" and then you swithced to Ganondorf, the star count will remain on the last score registered when playing as "IM#1".

i find you should keep your stars no matter what. on your name. keep track of your kos, that would be so much better

There is a limit on Melee.
You could only go up to 255 stars.
Anyone know if there is a limit on Brawl?
I think you can go to 999, but I havn't done it.

255 in Melee could've been a foreshadowing of a future charachter (ZSS) o.O

Alright, I just finished testing.
It really did take about 2hrs.

999 is the cap, as was expected.

Guess I'll go find someone to talk to, I'm feeling the need to get out of my room.
