Hmm, part of me is all over this, but at the same time I may be busy, how often are brawl tournaments held in the Toronto area?

There's kinda a conversation going on and I don't wanna interrupt and such but I figured this is probably the most acceptable place to introduce myself, My name is Nick and I'm from the area of Toronto Ontario, a few years ago I just grazed the surface of getting to play brawl competitively and now I'm looking at getting right back into it! I'm probably a shadow of what I was in comparison, and even before I wouldn't have called myself anything extraordinary, but I'd enjoy making the climb all over again. If anyone has any questions or wants to go a few rounds I'd love to meet some new training partners!

We also have a Skype chat (although it's pretty inactive lately), but if you have any questions you can ask them here or add us on Skype to talk to us (or if nobody else wants to do that, you can ask me). I don't really do Wifi (nor do I have access to it), so I wouldn't be able to play with you, but I'm always down to talk about stuff if you need it.

Looks like there's a bunch of stuff coming up in Toronto soon. If you had to pick an event, I'd definitely recommend going to Impulse, since it's looking like it'll be a big event. Hopefully if you go you can meet a bunch of people and get some solid practice in. They're running pools there, so if you enter you should at least get three good sets in, more if pools are large or if you make it out of them.

There used to be a place to put your Skype username in your profile on the old SWF, but I haven't checked to see if there is one now.

Im almost definitely not going to SKTAR. I really dont think Im going to travel to anything outside of maybe states right next to mine/maybe Cali if I even go anywhere for Brawl, and instead wait for Smash 4 to go to any really big tournaments. When smash 4 comes out though, Ill probably go to stuff since I hopefully wont be as burnt out on the game.

Really really fun, but really really hard to play well.

Speaking of Melee, my dorm had a small Melee thing tonight for an ongoing challenge between all the halls in my dorm. Each of 9 halls had one representative to play Melee, with me as ours. We had two rounds of 3 player free for all and then a 4 player ffa for the finals. I took 2nd and secured our spot for 1st place in the whole competition! We played on the laggiest TV I've ever seen, though. The button lag was like 1/3 of a second! I went all Captain Falcon though, because that much lag is impossible for using Yoshi well. That and the good captain is better in ffa. I took the other 2 competent players to my room though after the tournament and preceded to stomp them in every match we played, with both Falcon and Yoshi <3 Twas awesome.

Melee Yoshi is just technical as **** but has no range and is bad lol. Hes fun to play though cuz his mobility is really good and with his djc you can do a lot of cool stuff, but he just loses hard to any viable characters.

Oh wow that sucks. From what i've seen though V3ctorman makes Yoshi look beastly in melee.

Shiri's analysis is extremely good. He was my mentor in Melee when I was coming up lol. Funny enough, Yoshi has some recurring issues in Brawl just like he had in Melee.

Currently writing my final paper/studying for my exams right now, but I wanted to say that you should look for videos of me, Raptor, or MX if you're looking for current Yoshi videos. I'd link you to some things, but I only know my videos, and they're all kinda boring. @_@ I suppose I'll do it anyways.

I'll watch the vid vs Nakat right now but you have any tips vs fox? Or rather the spacies in general? Recently fought a fox and lost both games with Yoshi . I got 'em down to the last stock each time but it wasn't really down to the wire. More than often I felt as though I was getting out-played, but I don't really know the matchup either.

I dunno what you mean, Nakat. You were ****** Delta pretty hard game 1 until you derped around and forgot Yoshi has range.
Hell if my two games from Megafox last year was recorded, it'd probably be a better demonstration of the MU to be honest.

Its definitely possible to go aggro with yoshi. However its not possible being only aggro against certain characters and also depending on your position/state during the match. I myself have an aggro style of yoshi. However you need to be able to balance offense and defense and be able to recognize Yoshi's options in Brawl to have a high rate of sucess.
