I'll update this later tonight (Since I just got home 40 or so minutes ago), Polt did pretty well at HOBO while Yosh and I played pretty oddly at the tournament.

I think it's funny that Polt and I both got knocked out by the same person, and in both cases it went to a very close game 3. Sorry that I gave Leaf all that Yoshi practice the night before the tourney Slush. Maybe you could have beaten him otherwise.

We always go Game 3 last hit. Except this tournament it was 2-0 but last hit last stock still.
And the weird thing is, whenever i'm gonna play him something dumb happens.
2nd time I almost got killed in that car wreck, 3rd was SD'ing at a fresh stock, this time was just not having my GC controller so I used a Spare one.

But either way While I did bad against Leaf., but like always in tournament I started playing really good after I played Maharba and almost took a game off K Prime getting him to around 180% on his last stock.
My problem is not knowing what to do against Pikachu so I throw out random stuff and hope it works as we both continue to poke eachother and just pray until either Pika or I gets the kill move.

Basically... What do (Outside of CG and jab thunderjolts) to pika anyways.

Pikachu is one of the few characters that I don't really have a solid strategy going into it. One thing that I started doing against Leaf during my friendlies with him, was I started DIing EVERYTHING right/left (except his forward-smash and down-smash). Pikachu's fast enough that he can combo Yoshi with good reads, so I think just getting the hell away from him whenever he lands a hit is the safest option rather than trying to counter.

The biggest problem I have against Pikachu is killing him. He's such a small target and his moves have such high priority that it's difficult to land a kill move. Even though Pikachu's projectiles are faster than Yoshi's, I think the camp game is pretty even. Eggs do more damage, and there is actually quite a bit of lag after the thunder jolts. My biggest success in killing/comboing came from when I read a thunder jolt and managed to hit him before the lag from it was over. It's hard because it angles down (if he's in the air), so you have to predict it and react before it happens, and you should be able to get in.

Play against him like you would Snake. Seriously, think of him EXACTLY like you do Snake, but be aware that he has Down B and a CG to watch out for. Difference from the Snake MU though (cuz they arent 100% the same), if Pikachu is recovering, pester him with eggs/bair/etc, but when he gets close, dont go crazy cuz he can go to the ledge quick, or QAC the ground above the ledge and do pretty much anything out of it. Just try and play it really safe, CG when possible, and dont try too hard to kill him cuz we dont have any reliable ways to do so.

Not at low-enough percentages. You're in hit-stun too much to get the double jump off, but once you hit like 30 I believe, then you can do it, but I don't think you have to double jump for it. I'd have to test it some, but that's what i remember from playing Leaf and K Prime

That's what I meant by CG, my bad. And yeah, the usmash is guaranteed until around 40%. I think.

Fluttershy

Only lost to Lada and Staz, both ranked top 5 in state, so yeah.

Both used Falco and ROB/Lucario respectively.

5th out of 18. Why did Lee Martin have to show up =( But seriously, even with only getting 5th, I was so glad he made the trip up to Arkansas. I learned so much from playing him.

The tourney was ARK IV, and the tourney fee was $10 for singles. They're still doing Marvel vs Capcom today, and I'm not sure if the results will be posted, but I'll try to get them on here if they are.

Also got 2nd in teams (out of 9 teams). Yoshi/Marth too good =b

Ive played Yoshi/Yoshi, and I dont like it. Yoshi imo prefers 1v1 due to his reliance on grabs, his moves like Egg Toss and Yoshi Bomb that only hit one direction/a small area and have lots of lag, he's kinda big making him get hit easily (dat nose), and his projectile moves in a way that disrupts most characters play styles, messing with your teammate. Also, Yoshi moves around a lot differently than most characters (really fast air speed with lots of wavebouncing, dip and huge height in DJ, etc) which makes it hard for you opponent to know where you're going to be without knowledge on the character.

Lol Z, what are you talking about? Everybody knows that Yoshi is a much better doubles character than singles!

Dude. I hate going Yoshi in doubles. I only do so when it gets serious I'd much rather just go Mario.

I used to think that Yoshi was terrible in doubles, but the more I play it, the more I think he's fine in doubles. Also, Depster, you should let me know when the Wichita tourneys are gonna be. My October and November are looking pretty open, so I might be able to get up there once or twice. You, me, Zeton, and company will have a blast!

Like, Yoshi is alright in doubles, but there are so many better characters for a doubles situation than him.

Two problems... Wichita is pretty much done with brawl, and I dont live in the area anymore. I moved to southeastern washington for college. =/

Drive 2 hours and you're at Washington Tournaments.

Also, according to Google Maps, Walla Walla is a little under 10 hours away from me :o

Me and tmacc ***** face in doubles with yoshi wario. Also I used to think yoshi was bad in doubles too, now I wish I spent more time learning to play doubles before.
