If I were to face Tabuu right now I'd use something like Toon Link, Sonic, Wolf, Lucas, Olimar, and Ike.

If you're asking who I used the first time I beat him, I believe it was something like Ike, Olimar, Lucas, Lucario, Sonic, and Link.

On most tries, I got him down to about 50% with both Kirby and Mario, then weakened him all the way with Lucas/Pikachu, and simply dodged until a trophy base came with Luigi/Ness.

Ness + dramatically increased leg attack + B-air = dead Tabuu.

But my unused backups are usually Meta Knight, Toon Link, Ice Climbers, Sonic, and Samus.

The 6 I used to catch Tabuu were:

Fox
Yoshi
Sonic
Ness
Lucas
Peach

In that order.

I found Yoshi to be brilliant against him coz I just continually fired eggs in random directions and because he teleports a lot, most of them hit.

And Ness, Lucas and Peach are at the end because their bases are covered in trophy dropping stickers. Helps that they're at the end coz the first 3 characters are likely to die before Tabuu's health is low enough. By the time Ness, Lucas and Peach are being used to chip away the last bits of health, trophy stands are falling quite frequently.
