Buying a New Laptop. Need Some Opinions...

Don't get Dell. Most of their stuff is refurb, and sometimes all they do is clean it. Also avoid Gateway, their repair company went bankrupt, so if your **** breaks you're ****ed.

How to: Dual-boot Windows and Ubuntu Linux

Try an older version, like 8.04 (Hardy Heron).

    HD TVs question

LCD, plasma, and other such TVs just don't refresh the screen as quickly as CRT TVs do. No set of cables or different Wii will ever fix the lag issue; only an update to the hardware (IE: new TV breakthroughs) can fix it.

How to: Dual-boot Windows and Ubuntu Linux

Yeah, a lot of drivers are proprietary. Ubuntu usually does a really good job of handling them, though. Any specific errors?

Delete that clock applet. It's the date/time/clock dealy on the top bar. You can add it later, but see if it boots into GNOME without the applet.

How to: Dual-boot Windows and Ubuntu Linux

https://help.ubuntu.com/9.04/installation-guide/i386/index.html Good link! You should read through that before you have someone try to walk you through it. Also, 4GB is too much swap. You only "need" (I use quotes because you don't actually need swap) 1GB.

How to: Dual-boot Windows and Ubuntu Linux

You don't need swap at all! It's a lie! All it is is a partition of HDD which is used as extended RAM. Having swap actually slows down your computer because it creates a bottleneck. Swap was good back in the days of 16MB RAM, but not nowadays.

Uthrow-uair: Know when to use it!

I play good Peach and Ganon almost every day, and I can tell you now that uthrow->uair almost never works (Ganon can jump out at 0%, Peach can DI/trade). It's pretty gay.
