That's true. But from the data we have now (properties of characters, match-up's) we can assume that some characters are better than others. Mybe Wario is a better character than Dedede? At the moment it looks otherwise. But who knows? Maybe the future will show me wrong

It is notoriously easy for a good Wario to avoid being grabbed. He has disgusting shield pressure.

After much deliberating, I have decided NOT to accept MK-banned tournament results. Better metagame or not, it's still a completely different game when Meta Knight isn't in it.

At the moment Ankoku, Meta Knight is at the [approximately] 40% mark.
So a tournament without him should only get 60% of the points.
Or because there are less than '37' characters available, just times the score by 36/37.

Such a percentage isnt precise enough, this wouldn't work as well as just leaving the tourneys out.
Are you nuts Lirok? More and more tournaments are banning Meta Knight.
Do you think of how the list will skew as time goes on where reasonably sized tournaments all have Meta banned and the only points in the list are those from specific areas where the character isn't banned? I'd totally like to see a Character Rank List with maybe 8 characters with points with the rest being at 0.

Not that this is a relevant example, but one early tourney banned Pit.
Exaggerating aside, sure. But it's not exactly taboo anymore to ban him, and people are doing it. 'We'll see' doesn't seem proactive enough in my opinion.

Shaya: Until the much larger part of the community is banning MK, putting those tourney rankings into the current list cant be done. The major factor is that the entire thing could still go either way, it isnt set in stone that MK will be banned and it's just a matter of time. When the "sckew" effect you stated starts to come into play, it will probably be when the community has already decided to ban MK, if that happens.
I think Steel36's idea is actually good. The comparison between the lists would defiently have an effect on the debate on banning MK, and it supplies rankings to those who dont want to be in tourneys with MK. However, this will only work if a large amount of competitive players dedicate themselves to these tourneys, especially the higher level pros.

I just programmed a program that calculates this.
But you can only input one character... so you'd have to input every secondary if there are some xP (and don't forget to part the individual values)
Btw, I'm not sure anymore...
If there are listed two characters. Do they get 50 % each? Or 66/33? 75/25?
And if there are listed more than 2? Does the first one always get's 50 % and the rest is parted and everyone get's the same number?

Yeah, Wario might just be better than those characters despite the way we perceive it. It will take time, but IMO Wario is definitely the same league and breath as those three.
A better question is , why can't "certain players" win with Game and Watch the way these 'certain players" win with Wario? Would you mean to suggest that no one good has tried winning with Game and Watch? Surely there must be a reason that so many people try to use him and so many good players use him and many fail. I'm not saying wario is better than these charracters, I'm saying there is a lot of substance to be taken out of his character from the fact that people can win at such a high level using him.

I agree with Edrees. Also it could be due to the fact that there is not a person that great behind the character to show its true power. Like how people were going on about Zelda is this and that. But who has come to the top and has beasted with Zelda to show how great she is from what people are saying? From her tournament results, no one. Untill a Person Picks Zelda and beast with her in tournaments. She will not be seen as people want.
That's why I say tournaments matter. Tournaments matter cause the pressure is on, and you will be tested mentally as well as how you can handle yourself when things get tuff. And with Characters like Zelda its too hard. So that's why people go to characters like the high tiers. No one has took a stand with Zelda in tournaments to beast and get her records up.
Remember how it was with Peach back then? "Peach sucks, she got nerfed, I need my broken Dsmash or I can't win, can't kill, waa,waa,waa" All that crap and look at Peach now. Look at her rank. Edrees step it up and did not care about all those babies crying about Peach. He just Picked Peach and beasted in tournaments cause he is freaking smart and knows what to do. Thats how it should be with every good man behind each character if you wanna see what they can really do. if not its ether:

How good a character is is ALL about the character matchups.
