So this is my 4th Annual End of Summer Tournament!

10AM-12PM = Early Registration and Casual Play

12PM - Brawl and Naruto Rev 3

2PM - Blazblue and Melty

4PM - TvC and HDR and Smash 64 and Casual Play

6PM - SSF4 and Tekken 6



Tournament Pots

All Tournaments have a split of: 1st - 70%, 2nd - 20%, 3rd - 10%

** Depending on turn out for any tourney, 4th might receive his money back as well. ^_^


Venue Fee:

$5 - For everyone wanting to play games. (Includes unlimited Drinks)
Free - For players that bring a Full Set Up and is used at the tourney.
Free - Spectators going to watch or family members are Free to watch the event.

* No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players.

* King Dedede's standing infinite is banned. Any chain grab done with King Dedede MUST include a dash between each grab. Any chain grabs done in place on moving platforms or against a wall are legal, as these are only temporary stage-specific occurrences and no legal stages have permanent walls.

* If the timer runs out, the victor is determined first by stock and then by percentage. If Equaled, a 1 Stock match is played, same Characters and Stage. NO SUDDEN DEATH IS PLAYED OUT.

* Meta Knight's Infinite Cape glitch is banned. Anyone caught using it to lengthen the distance of Dimensional Cape will automatically lose that game to their opponent.

* If the game ends with a suicide, the winner will be determined by percentage. This includes Swallow-cides, Ganon-cides, Wario-cide, and Bowser's Koopa Claw.

* Stalling is banned.
Stalling: The act of deliberately avoiding any and all conflict so that one may make the game unplayable. Running away from an opponent to reach a better position is not stalling, while doing an infinite grab endlessly against a wall is. Any infinite chain grabs most end quickly after 300% has been reached so as to prevent excessive stalling.

Set format (In Order of Procedure):

1. Opponents choose their characters for the first match *
2. Opponents start the stage striking procedure
3. Each player may announce one stage to be banned for counterpicks of the set
4. The first game is played, using the stage chosen during step 2
5. The loser of the previous match announces the next match's stage from either the Starter Stage List or the Counter Stage List
6. The winner of the previous match chooses their character
7. The loser of the previous match chooses their character
8. Repeat steps 5-7 for all proceeding matches



No Pool Play will be played at this event!

Working on the Rules for Brawl. I think the Stage List is ok, but I am willing to listen to anyone's suggestions before finalizing them. Otherwise I will keep these. ^_^

Looks like the tournaments will have a very nice showing. Nice to see BBCS have some solid support here in the city!


I am currently trying to get a stream working, so if anyone can help with that, I will greatly appreciate by waiving your Venue Fee.


I will be adding a Systems Donations/Set Up Donations list to the Main post later one this weekend. If you can help with a set up, please post it will greatly help in running the event much quicker, which in turn means a lot more free time for Casuals for everyone! ^_^

Hopefully by having just 1 smash related game I can finish this on time and not stay until 2AM or later. =p

Downtown venues wanted near $1,000 for only 6 hours.... I laughed at them as I walked out the venues. >_>

I'm going either way, but whats so bad about Screenz? All I know about it is that Webster doesn't like it, and that Paul's Video Arcade was supposedly an upgrade from it.

$10 venue fee for a dark, hot basement with no parking.


but tbh, I don't think screenz is really that bad (besides the $10). It does have more space & time than Paul's, there is a decent amount of chairs, public transport goes right to it, and the Wiener's Circle is just down the street.

So... where are we supposed to park?

Technically I never confirmed it to be Screenz. Since I am still talking to them and a couple other places. I have a meeting with them on Wednesday about the venue fee I want.

The thing is, no matter what venue I get in the Chicago downtown area, parking will be very hard and the best options are to carpool and split the cost of a parking garage with the rest of the people in the car pool or just take public transportation.

I know this not help much the drivers, but like I said this is mostly a Chicago tournament, so the biggest expected attendance is going to be local Chicago players that take public transportation in the first place. Pretty much like the Clash of Brokenness Series I ran last year, the bulk of attendance was local players.

Downtown Chi? I was there awhile ago. The most expensive part of the 3 day weekend was the parking, so I know what thats like :X

I'll see how many people we can load into lil ol' Starscream.

Yeah I know. City parking is very hard, which is why I stopped going to work by car and just use public transportation now. lol

I am also talking to another venue but is closer to my house, the only problem is that is more towards the south side of Chicago. So free parking is available but the hours of the venue will be less, kinda similar to Paul's so I don't know if you guys prefer that.

Just weighing the pros and cons of different places.

I'm very tempted... I'll have to think about it etc.

If possible, try to convince them to have $5 venue fee. There was a legit AiB blog mentioning how $5 venue fee compared to $10-15 venue fee really helps out.

Screenz wanted too much for only the back room and not the rest of the venue and was realistically going to cost about $15 per person... so I said no. >_>


For the moment I decided to host it in the same place it has run for the past 4 years, the End of Summer tournament.

I changed the venue fee and added a few things to what it covers and the WiFi spot been there. <3

Unless i get a better location within the week I am going to stay with this, since the turnout is just as big as regular EoS tourneys since yeah it is a lot of names, but some of them are not going to show up and others are just the same person entering multiple games. >_>

Nice thing about it, I have more Space now and a WiFi Hot Spot for anyone wanting to check out the interwebz while they are here. ^_^

Yes, same location as all of the previous End of Summer tourneys.

All the other venues were either too small, too expensive, or too little time. God I hate city venues, kinda the reason why there hasn't been a tourney IN the city in a long time.

I will look into the city locations or that arcade for future events but for this one no, not going to bother.

With that said, I am changing the line up: Only Brawl Singles Bracket will be run at the event. If you guys can't adjust to that, I am truly sorry, but now I am trying to fit everything I am running there.

If you do however want a truly Brawl Event just head to Norm's tourney the following week. I completely understand and I have no hard feelings towards anything.

I will still run Brawl Singles Bracket at this event, but I figure it would be best for those showing up for other tourneys as well and not just Brawl, since I know you guys like Pools and I just can't run that right now.

Sorry for any inconvenience, I truly am. I will look into a bigger venue for a November or December event for Locals, and this time have adequate time available to advertise. Once again I am sorry for any person that this new update feels bad for.

Are these times absolutely final? Me and my friends have been wanting to go to this, and have been practicing Brawl for like the past week so that we wouldn't completely suck at the tourney, but we won't be able to go until about 2 at the earliest. Is there any chance that the time could be changed?

I personally have no problem. This is the proposed schedule based on attendance, but if people want to show up I can move it to around 3PM if that feels better for everyone.

Screenz was closer in my favor, but hopefully I can get there still. I know some of my friends are also going. : D

So this'll be at your house then DK? It's possible for me to get there, but do you know how long the bus to the Orange Line (I forgot which one it is, it's like a Pulaski bus I think?) runs to? Lol, I don't even remember the Orange Line stop, all I remember is that it's the stop right before Midway at the end of the Orange Line.

I ask this because last time I went to your house with my friend, we just barely caught the last bus and if we didn't catch that bus we would've had to walk like 40 blocks. I don't want another close call like that to happen.

It is tentative at my place, unless I get a confirmation from another venue later this week.

Since I am running just Brawl Singles, that event should be done with ample time for you to head back home. The last bus going to Midway leaves at around 11:30PM, Brawl singles should be over long before that. The Pulaski bus is the 53A.

I only ever intended to come because of Blazblue, this Brawl setback does not affect me.

I'd like for you all to come out and support. Brawl singles will be the only smash ran at this event due to space and time constraints. So this tournament would be ideal for those who either have:

a: nothing better to do than to come out and have fun at a local smash tournament.

or...

b: if you're a competitibe player or curious about playing more fighting games to come out...play Brawl, and then compete in other fun and exciting fighting games.
