Welcome to Newbie Mafia 7!
You will be playing what is known as Mafia. A game of deception. The core of the game is revolved around Mafia and Town. Town are the good guys, while Mafia are the bad guys. Town generally has a larger majority of players, and many more 'power roles' as we call them, to aid them in their victory of exterminating all of the Mafia. Along with these powers and large numbers, they can choose to kill someone they think is mafia once every Day Phase. The only problem is, they don't know who's town or not. Mafia on the other hand, knows their accomplices, and are able to kill one townie every Night Phase. Their drawback is simple, they are clearly outnumbered by town. Ah! I forgot to mention! The game works in Day and Night phases, just like real life. During the Day time, the town as a whole (this includes mafia) discuss amongst themselves who should be killed (or whether they should kill at all). During the night while everyone sleeps, the mafia discuss amongst themselves who shall suffer a taste of hot lead.
Now there were other aspects of the game i lightly touched on, but didn't fully explain. They will be listed in the sections below.
[collapse=Power Roles? What's that?]The regular townie and regular mafia (these are also known as vanilla townies, or vanilla mafia). can do nothing but vote towards a kill during their respective phases. However there are other roles that are allowed to do much more. For example, cop is a town aligned, therefore they are teamed with townies. Just like vanilla townies, they vote towards who they feel is scum. During the night time, cop can investigate one person, and find out their alignment. Doctors work the same way, as they can also choose someone during the night time, however their role makes it so that if that chosen person gets killed by mafia, they will be revived before sunrise! These power roles are extremely important to town winning in most situations. Generally speaking, these roles should be kept under wraps until direly needed.
Of course, it wouldn't be fair if mafia didn't have their own roles. Mafia has 'roleblocker', a person who stops a townie power role in their tracks. This can prevent doctors from saving, and cops from investigating.
Now that all of the basic things are out of the way, we will now go into who is playing the game with you. [/collapse]

[collapse=IC's (inexperienced challenged)]There are a few things I ask for (and expect) to happen during this game.
1) Please be respectful to the other players.
Although you all have far more experience than the players around you. These games are for the newbies. Make this a fun experience for everyone.
2) You are here to teach
Explain what should happen throughout the game in certain situations. Newbies tend to become inactive without a gentle nudge in the right direction.
3) You are here to win.
While you are here to teach, you are also here to win. With that being said, you need to have a perfect blend of both rules 2 and 3. Win condition comes first, teaching comes later. If you come to a point where you have deceived someone to meet your win condition, tell them what they did wrong, or why you did what you did.

1) Please enjoy this game and do not act in a manner that would make the game unenjoyable for others! (This includes personal attacks!)
2) The game mod is the game god. However, if you feel the game god happens to be testing your faith by placing an error in the game, then please feel free to point it out!
3) Editing your posts is not allowed, and multi-posting is instead encouraged in its place. Any and all edits will be reversed!
4) If you are allowed to communicate with another player outside of this thread, then please follow the communication instructions within your role PM!
5) Do not quote role PMs or any other form of communication with the Game Mod unless your role PM explicitly states you can (in which case follow the instructions in your role PM). Failure to comply will result in a modkill. You may paraphrase your role PM as you see fit, but keep everything in your own words!
6) Once all role PMs have been sent, please confirm by quoting your role PM back to me along with the symbol in rule #8. This thread will be unlocked once all players have confirmed.
7) All votes must follow the format of "Vote: NAME".
8) You are not required to unvote, however if you do, then please use the format of "Unvote:"
8a)
.9) No Lynch is a valid vote target.
10) A lynch will occur when a majority of votes has been reached.
11) If a majority has not been reached, then No Lynch is forced as the lynch target.
12) A) Deadline for the Day Phase will equal a time of eight days.
12) B) Deadline for the Night Phase will equal a time of two days.
13) During any day phase a player may perform the command "Request: Deadline Extension". The deadline will be extended by 4 days if a majority of players perform this command. This can only be done once over the course of the game and the deadline will not be extended for any other reason.
13a) For the sake of Newbie Mafia, the first day phase will be given an extra four days (a free deadline extension) so that newbies can be comfortable with their roles and the game plan.
15) Since this is a semi-open game, there will be no Twilight Phase.
16) After your death you are allowed one bah post. This post is to be short, not game breaking, and in no way harmful to another player.
17) You are expected to post at least once every 48 hours. If you are not active for a period longer than 48 hours, you will receive a prod. If you do not post in thread with-in 48 hours of prod, you will be replaced. Multiple prods will result in replacement at moderator's discretion. If you have pre-planned absence, then please notify the game mod ahead of time and you will not be prodded. However if your absence is for an unreasonable amount of time, you may be forcibly replaced regardless of advance notification.
18) Failure to adhere to rules will result in replacement or modkill based on the moderator's discretion.
19) Please avoid using HTML and coloured font in your posts. All colours used in this post are strictly forbidden for use as they are the colours the game moderator will be using.
20) You may ask questions to the game moderator using the command: "@Mod: ___".
21) Please do not post in code, hidden text, or languages other than English.
22) You may not post screenshots [print screens] or anything resembling a screenshot [print screen].
23) Hydras may freely quote text logs of conversations, after all it's only the playerslot talking to itself. Sadly, hydras are not allowed to play in this game.
24) You may not quote logs of communication with other players if your role PM allows you to communicate with other players outside of this thread. You are free to paraphrase.
25) You are allowed to claim anti-town. However you are not allowed to claim anti-town and that another player is anti-town with you (either explicitly or implicitly). This will result in an automatic loss for your faction.[/collapse]

You have been randomly invited to the Liar Game. A game of which deception is the only path to survival. Your next game assigns you with 8 other players. You're all escorted from the entrance to a luxurious hotel. Inside you all feast upon some of the finest meals that could be offered in the western hemisphere. While you feast, a young, well dressed individual wearing a white mask, slowly walks through the entrance. You first notice his white mask, covered with small but detailed designs, you then notice his cold, steel grey briefcase that he grips intently. His anonymous gaze pans across the room, then with a confident roar he speaks.
"I would like to welcome you all to the Liar Game, where your lies and deceitful qualities are rewarded with the most magnificent of prizes"
He turns to his side and lays his briefcase onto a wooden oak table. The briefcase makes a loud thud before settling into it's position. Whatever he was holding, was packed tightly, there were no trailing sounds of light items rustling inside of his case. He then looks at everyone again, then turns back to click open his briefcase. It makes a crackling noise, like a old opening door. Everyone's chatter and bliss comes to a progressive halt, as he rotates the briefcase into our direction. The case is filled with American Dollars, 20 million dollars the man later tells us.
"Among the 9 of you, some of you will be receiving a hefty cut of this 20 million dollar grand prize."
He closes the briefcase quickly, and continues his speech.
"The game you will be playing is called Mafia. This game is the epitome of deception, for while I will assign you all to teams, you will not be able to trust anyone. At the edge of the door there is a pamphlet telling you all the rules necessary to be known for this next event. I will expect you all to read this pamphlet as deeply as possible, for it will be the only information you can trust. Good luck to you all."
As the man leaves, the dinner continues as usual, but not for long. Having the 20 million dollars of cash in sight ruined many of the competitors appetites. Everyone got up and leisurely walked to the door to receive their pamphlets, with so much money on the line, it would be insane not to study the game at all.
And so the night comes to a close, and we all wait for this game of mafia to begin..
