America has places stricken by poverty. People need to understand this. Just because your family may be doing fine or whatever doesn't mean everyone is. People don't want to have to resort to prostitution.

Poverty? You call America poverty? Have you not seen the wages of some of the countries in Africa, Asia, and even portions of Europe? How many Americans that are unoccupied have you seen starve to death on the streets? There are plenty of people that would leave their home countries in a heart beat to come here if they could, even if they couldn't find a job.

This just shows how detached society is in this day and age. Because we see **** like this on the internet and in movies, people just seem to not think about this as a crime, and more of something that they can get away with because they think they have all the power in the world. I hope that the step sister dies in a fire, i know wishing death on someone is wrong, but i can't think of anything that would be a fitting punishment for her. You must have no moral judgment to sell a 7 year old child to grown men and teen-aged boys, who, didn't even bat an eye at this very young girl while they were doing horrible things to her.

Articles like this is why I believe the death penalty is a necessary thing. What else do these people deserve?
Edit: I know that's harsh, and I know some my best friend used to be a horrible person before he became a Christian (not a rapist or anything, though), but even still--I just can't stop my anger from burning against people like this.

Killing them will not un-**** the little girl. The death penalty is cumbersome, expensive and pointless outside of this outdated Hammurabi revenge mindset that some people have.

I have officially lost all hope for humanity.
News flash: Welcome to the human race.
That this happened is deplorable, but worse things have happened in the past and worse things will happen in the future.

It's saddening that the general consensus within the thread is that such behaviour is no longer deemed to be a rarity, a view that I very much agree with. Merely indicative of our current social climates.
A couple of points:
The offenders' actions are utterly undefendable and I hope they recieve apt legal punishment.
@ Proverbs; luigi is right, the death penalty is redundant and achieves absolutely nothing.
Poverty is a global problem. Developed countries do exhibit areas of extreme poverty, don't be deluded.
Our politicians need to spend much more effort on attempting to address the complete degradation of society's moral fabric. We live in an increasingly disillusioned environment where people are displaying less and less of a concern for their neighbour. It is imperative we do something. I know it's easier said than done.
My thoughts are with the victim and her family.
Typing this on an iPhone is excruciatingly cumbersome.

Capital punishment would work if it weren't so inefficient. With appeals and everything else, they end up in jail for **** near as long as they would have been anyway, and then the additional costs of the final execution on top of all that puts it through the roof. So yeah, it actually is more cumbersome/etc than prison, because it's prison with a big expensive ceremony at the end.
We need speed passes for capital punishment

Just chop their heads off, hang them on a pike, and you won't see that problem for a while. Just look at pirates. You haven't seen them for quite awhile after Black Beard was taken off and even when they came back they're avoiding America like the plague.
This is completely terrible. I hope that they know that they ruined that girl's life, and she's only 7.

Capital punishment should exist but not for this. The act is terrible but they should be put in a correctional facility. also stop comparing poverty here to poverty in africa. if your poor you poor. doesnt matter that the us is more deveoped they arent seeing much of that development and you arent in their situation.
Nice try. The Death Penalty is indeed more expensive than a lifetime in jail.

The point is: This happened. We feel sorry for the innocent, and hope the guilty burn in hell when their time comes.

Incorrect, its not about making the girl feel "un-*****" or having her "un-*****" its about PUNISHMENT. The death penalty ensures that these guys will NEVER see the light of day again and further ensures that they will NEVER have a chance to commit any OTHER crimes. Its a justified punishment that needs to be used more often.
