It would be pretty cool if we got someone from screw attack to commentate, I know they prefer retro games and they said they would prefer to try commentating so why not. Would also get our game more in the public view.

Also, for some odd reason, cannot find any kikoushi videos

Hey everyone,

I'm proud to announce that THREE Japanese smash 64 players are attending Apex 2013!

Kikoushi
Ruoka Danchon
Nangoku

Currently helping them register on the Apex website. ;)

GET HYPE!
I'm done registering them! They should show up on the list of entrants pretty soon.

Here's details on the players coming!

Kikoushi: Kirby player. Won the Japanese National Tournament in 2011 and placed 2nd in 2012. One of the top Japanese players.
Ruoka Danchon: Falcon player. Often goes to the final top 8 phase of the National Tournaments. Widely regarded as the best Falcon in Japan.
Nangoku: Ness/Falcon player. Don't know much about him, will add details once I do. ^^
Wow! Good job Funk.

I'd say the standings of this tourney were just RADICALLY altered.

Sorry Boom/Isai/Jaime, but top 3 is no longer a guaranteed for all of you.

And anyone who aspirations for top 4, you just got pwned. The Kirby and Falcon player are both legit contender for top 4.

Awesome. Good lord that just makes me even more pissed I'm not going.
WOW seems like top 10 for this event is going to be one big battle.

I'm sure Isai and Boom well still get some where in top 3. As for everyone other then them good luck to you.

Now that I've seen vids the Ness is also a top 4 contender.
If Nangoku knows that in (U):
1. recovering high with Ness isn't really as much of an option anymore (especially without platforms (via Hyrule))
2. An opponent can DI a lot more effectively out of the Ness combos
3. Utilt has more knockback, and Uair has less knockback meaning a change in recipe for juggles.

I mean I hope these Japanese players have a copy of Smash US.
Like there isn't a near parity like Brawl where (J) players can swoop in and destroy, the differences between the regions are substantial and take getting used to.

I say they will perform well if they prepare well because just by looking at some vids it appears as if the competition in Japan is pretty stiff.

I expect Isai (If he plays to win) and Boom to be safe, but no one else, not even Jaime.

Yes they have bought their tickets. And I paid for their registration.

I just need someone to collect the registration cash from them and then send me an equivalent amount of money through bank transfer.

Go Random every game Star King style

Actually if we had more online tournaments I would totally do that at some point

if some of the japanese players reaches semifinal. I wonder how they will adapt from best of 1 game DL only, to a best of 5 possible hyrule on many of them. ROFL.

Don't forget that with the new counterpicking rule, nobody can be forced to lose on Hyrule more than once in a best of 5 set. Same goes for Dreamland though.

I'd be ashamed of anyone going Hyrule against them.

But play to win I guess.
I main falcon (offline) but I dislike DL, i don't know why

Hopefully I don't face them then :c
On another note, hopefully my seeding is based off of last year, will help
..a bit

Can I ask politely why there's a cap to begin with? I mean if Nintendude and Chain-ace are running it themselves it shouldn't cause any problems with any of the other events right?

Plus if there were like 85 instead of 80 I don't see how that would make any difference at all.

At FC, I beat Knitephox 3-2. I went 1-2 on Hyrule and 2-0 on DL.

That's the only time we've played seriouslies. We played 2 hours of friendlies, and we were mostly even.
