Shanus, your comments on infinite PKT1 are, if nothing else, a little shocking. I was under the impression that infinite PKT1 was put in to prevent someone from just jumping into the **** thing and instantly screwing Ness over. Now you don't want it in because it actually buffs Ness's recovery?

Falco400 stated that the intended purpose of PKT1 was to stop stupid deaths, not to buff his recovery. Here are his words here.

Infinite PKT1 never buffed Ness's recovery, nor did it hold the Ness main's hand when they used it. Rather, it prevented the game holding the other person's hand when they wanted to gimp ness. Please rethink this.
No, I was referring to infinite PKT1's paired with the downB change. That would be way too beast of a recovert option. However, your claim that it didn't buff Ness' recovery is far from truth and you know that.

Lol just imagine picking Olimar as an example :p

Shanus, is it possible for a new Nightly build to be fast-tracked with a fix for Charizard's Usmash? I really want to be able to get some more impressions up, and Charizard is one of my local player's best characters. I'd like to be able to see how some of these changes interact with a fully functional Charizard. Especially Bowser and Ness.
Yes, I'll try and get one out tomorrow. Sorry I have to make you wait till then, family visiting today.

I feel infinite PKT1 is more of a mix-up. If someone destroys your first PKT1 (With an aerial, not with their body) then its not likely they wont destroy the 2nd one or gimp Ness anyways. This is just something people will learn to do, and catch on to.

Ness can retaliate by using PKT1 early in an attempt to knock them away before recovering. However, this could potentially set them up for a better position to be edgehogged.

So edgehogged or gimped, Ness mains choose their poison. I don't feel hand-holding makes a difference in this equation, it just leaves a different way for people to approach this situation. Just keep in mind it can do more then just prevent stupid deaths.

On Green Greens, ROB's laser takes forever to charge for me. Anyone else have this problem?

Also, during the SA window, Ness appearantly gets hurt by projectiles. Lucas' PK thunder tail whipped me and I took dmg. So the magnet doesn't absorb during the SA window it seems.

I'd also say that Zelda deserves the ability to DI after her UpB before Wolf gets such a thing.

Zelda's freefall DI is still slightly better than Wolf's is with the buff XD Not to mention that she could use Din's Fire to get a better horizontal recovery (assuming that she doesn't go into freefall after Din's Fire... I think I read that somewhere but I don't play as her) Is the ending lag on Farore's Wind that bad that she falls a substantial distance before she can DI?

Id be willing to argue against Zelda getting the same treatment, and here's why:

Her recovery is FAR more versatile than Wolf's. Wolf can only Up-B in eight directions, with the downward portions being worthless due to no knockback. Zelda's can move in SIXTEEN directions, is invincible during the travel from point A to B, AND has knockback and zero lag upon reappearing and landing.

Zelda also travels nearly three times the distance Wolf's does. If you can't recover with that, you need to practice more.

http://www.mediafire.com/?zj2oddmz0yy for ZSS fix!
Immediate first impression of 7/20 changes:

I am filled with hate for the new CSS. It's organized in the weirdest way, and what's up with the complete removal of stages? I thought Brawl+ was all about improvement and tweaking. What's the reasoning behind the complete removal of options? It's fine for competitive play to lock out certain stages, but not all of us are competitive players, or want a competitive environment ALL the time. Can we have those stages back in the next build, to keep our options?
it was never meant to be like this. looking over the code, i realize that a line has been (presumably accidentally) deleted. 10 stages, all banned, seem to have been lost.

No, I was referring to infinite PKT1's paired with the downB change. That would be way too beast of a recovert option. However, your claim that it didn't buff Ness' recovery is far from truth and you know that.
But Shanus it's already been established that infinite PKT didn't buff his recovery. I believe Count said that.
The Psi magnet buff helped his recovery, but it isn't the GREATEST tool.

SA for 1-7 frames isn't that long. After that it's the same move from vBrawl. Ness in B+ recovery option are nearly identical in regular brawl.

PS: Cue cornered/pursuit theme.

MK and Tim, thanks for the code fixes.

Now comes the dumb question: How do you batch Brawl+ with .txt files? I've only used the premade .gct's before, and I can't find the guide on the forums. >_< If someone can PM me the way to get this on the road, I'd be most appreciative.

You need a program to convert those txt files into gct files. (GCT)

Put the new text files into the text folder of your SD card. Assuming you cheat manager, convert them into GCT files.

The World That Never Was
So a bunch of us tested this new nightly out the last half of a smashfest held yesterday.

I originally had a lot to say on other characters, but I'll leave comments to those that actually main them.

First of, I never thought a 5-degree angle change would be so drastic.

Please remove that dthrow angle change. Ivy was an extremely solid character before; anymore buffs (such as this) are just silly attempts to make her an easier character.

Charizard also needs absolutely no change in his usmash. It linked just fine before. He also does not need anymore changes.

Regarding Wolf's changes, please see my above Ivy comment about making characters more "easy mode".

Omg thank you i feel the same way. And the "Easy mode" thing can also be pointed to zards usmash change. Why in the world would u want to make it easier to connect? His usmash connected just fine with a little bit of practice. Also zard has like 8 ko moves. Now you want to make one of them easier to land? It makes no sense.

And like i said ivy's dthrow to uair was already legit to people who didn't di. Now your not even given them the option of di. Its making the chars easier to play and it makes no sense. I thought we were trying to have a competitive game?

Charizard is perfect the way he is. He needs nothing else.

Im kinda iffy on ivy. I stopped playing her when yall took away her leaves but i know making dthrow to uair a unescapeable combo is not the way to go.

Systalis, I mentioned it for the fact that Zelda isn't the onstage monster that Wolf is and yet she suffers from the dead wieght effect as well.

But yeah, her recovery probably doesn't NEED a buff.

I'd like the old SSS if it means all stages. The ROB laser thing doesn't happen on Luigi's mansion tho.

Use BrawlPlusTweaker which can be found here or Ocarina Code Manager which can be found here.
Open the txt with either of them, check the codes you want, then export the gct

Not sure how making sure all hits in a multi hit attack requires any practice at all. Keeping Ness and Wario from falling out of Zelda's usmash in vbrawl didn't seem like something "practice" could fix. Same w/ Samus' old usmash.

GuruKid, it's just to fix a move to do what it's supposed to do. Charizard's Usmash first hit is supposed to link to the second hit, so they try to make the hits connect better. The change is fine.
I have not seen the intended usmash "fix" yet, so I'm not going to assume the new usmash will be better. I don't see what's so wrong with the current usmash to warrant such a change anyway.

Wolf can actually use his up B in sixteen directions as well, but I agree with your main point.

Not sure how making sure all hits in a multi hit attack requires any practice at all. Keeping Ness and Wario from falling out of Zelda's usmash in vbrawl didn't seem like something "practice" could fix. Same w/ Samus' old usmash.
a little luck makes a game interesting too yknow.

I am currently making a fixed version of the set right now and testing out a lagless PKT1 too

The fixed set yes, not sure onthe PKT1 part though. The CAM code has a short line limit due to its current memory location, and I'm near positive we are at it's current limit.

Are the lagless PKT1 and infinite PKT1 hand-in-hand? Because while I found the lagless one quite useful, I'd trade it off any day for infinite.

Zap jump, imo, is why Ness's recovery is what you call "broken". Without that, getting back to the stage would be just as hard as with Ivysaur. I don't think what Ness should excel in is recovery, what I think his main strength would be is Onstage aerials. However, Ness now has too many things to worry about at one time. He has to look out for cheapo PSI Magnet in dittos, he has to watch out for mis-aimed PK2s bouncing off of the ledge of the stage, he has to watch out for characters jumping into his PKT, he has to watch out for characters jumping into his PK2, and lastly, he has to look out for further hits, making him suffer this again.

And the main argument here I see is fair. I don't care what you do to fair; all I want is to have a recovery that doesn't smell rancid like a dead fish.

Darn, and I was hoping to see PKT revamped too.

Does that mean it's impossible Shanus?

EDIT: Wait, Shell are you sure about that?

If you don't mind, I'd like to be another person who asks "Why does Ness no longer have infinite PKT1s?" I keep hearing something mentioned about his PSI Magnet, but I don't know what it is, nor have I recently tried to use it to see what it does.

I'm wondering how anyone can say that infinite PKT1s is not a recovery buff and keep a straight face.

Making a "broken" (in the bad way) move less "broken" is a buff, no matter how you look at it. Making a move that doesn't work right, work right, is a buff. If something is doing it's job better than it was before, it's a buff. Stop acting like you're entitled to it (especially if it's something that wasn't even in the original game) and think about the consequences for a second.

@Philly: That's what I've been trying to tell people.

@PKNintendo: Pretty sure.

OK fine, it buffs his recovery.

But think about it. You removed the only other character who can't upB after being hit, Pit.

Why should Ness suffer alone then? He isn't even a solid character as-is (other than the old fair).

It. Doesn't. Make. Sense.

@ Philly: I already have Peach as a tertiary. Aerial characters always keep me interested.

@JCaesar: I think I just got owned...

@Shell: SWEET!

I'm pretty sure Pit still can't Up-B after being hit. He just doesn't go into freefall.

What the hell. I'm getting freezes with the updated codeset posted just now. I have no clue what's causing it.

It might be due to me using the snapshot method, since it froze right after going into the snapshot menu and as it was loading the snapshot thumbnail, but this hadn't happened with the earlier 7-20 build. I even tried disabling the SSS code, but it still froze. Then I tried reverting back to the old hitbox mod data code, and it didn't freeze at the snapshot screen, but it did when I tried going into training mode.

I'm gonna see if this happens using Gecko OS.

Nope, just got a freeze using Gecko OS before the safety screen even came up.

Gonna revert everything to the old build now.

Edit: Ok, it works now. I disabled the SSS code, but I'm not sure if that's what was causing it.
